I did some times, and I can gain a full level in about 2:30 in NM baal. But, I can also gain a level in about 45 seconds doing hell act 1 champ packs. This 45 seconds is not the total time, it's the time it takes a regular segment WHILE gaining a level, minus the time it would take to JUST tele that segment. It's definetly faster, it's just way harder.

Are you sure you don't want that higher fireball for Andy herself? Remember she has -50 fire resist. Wait no, that would only save like 2 seconds. I think I'm trying too hard to convince myself that one skill point will make a galaxy of difference speed-wise.

It's too bad you can't let your merc stay dead after Countess because he's probably needed to beat hell ancients. This one is for keeps, he can't be replaced in Act 2. Too bad he's dependent on equipment and thus pretty much useless in hell until he gains about 30 levels, but all you can do is level him up with you. Must be frustrating. IMO Countess should give him a Jah rune.

@Siyko nice start in hell. i like the liitle confusion when you select waypoint first time you're in hell Smiley

but leveling is much better then i expected, i think i underestimated the %xp boost from boss/champion packs with xp-shrine on your head.

@ShinerCCC countess only drops up to Lo rune Grin

but runes to upgrade his weapon would be nice. or an eth rune might be useful. but probably not worth the trouble.

countess has two different types of drops. one is her 'runedrop' which goes up to ist runes. the other is her normal drop, going up to Lo (which is still quite low, the monster around her can drop up to cham/zod).

right, and trying to get a Lo is like trying to get a Lo off any other mob - it's not something I could ever expect.

In any case, I don't really need any runes, unless I was going to up the kelpie or something.

Keeping the merc alive is a pain, but it is worth it. The clumping during leveling alone is valuable enough to spend the extra seocnd every now and then to teleport the merc out of danger, and the extra potions. If I only wanted to use him for ancients/den, then I'd just let him die nad res him before those segments.

I know this might be off topic a little bit, but Diablo 2 really sucks now, and for years. Not the game itself, the fact that nobody can ever legitimately hit level 99, all bots. Even if someone did, nobody would ever believe him either. It is ridiculous. Sorry if I am to off base.

Err, my roomie has a legit level 99 Summoning Necro offladder. I also know a bunch of people with 96+ ladder Hammerdins that they use to Hell Rush and are planning to hit 99 by the end of next month. Hell, even LLJK has at least one legit 99 on the USEAST ladder. That being said, that was some pretty useless input on your part mister.

Well, maybe I was wrong about nobody, I figured someone could. But tell me... Have you ever gone online and told someone you made a level 99 legit and they believed you? What's it worth if you go on a ladder that you can never be recognized on?

Yes, if I told someone that I made it to 99 without bots or maphack, they would believe me. They would also tell me that I wasted a lot of time and effort when the bots are only there to help magic find and power level. The fact that the leaders of the ladders don't use bots should be proof enough that your claims of ill repute are flawed at best.

Now, enough of this banter about ladder work and bots and whatnot. This thread is about Siyko's run.

It's definitely possible to reach level 99 without bots etc., I know enough people who managed by a lot of Baal runs in a serious and legit community (or even alone!).

Concerning me: No, I haven't (I don't even have a level 99 char.), but why do you care about the other's opinions? I wouldn't have to show it to someone else because I play the game for me and the chars that far as I want (and good enough for my purposes). And if I played on level 99, I'd do it because I want. Besides, the battle.net is full enough with cheaters who won't believe you, of course, because they don't know, what it means to play legit.
(That's not meant as an offence or so.)

Siyko: I don't really remember your merc's equipment, but have you already put a Treachery on him? Or you don't want to luck-manipulate for runes? With random armor and helm, it is difficult to keep him alive, but with a little resist boost...

Treachery? That's an ASN only runeword, and it doesn't give any good resists. He is right now 65/30/-10/-10, which isnt' very good, but he can live.

Next segment is coming - i'm taking a few days break though.

Those resists are quite good, though.

99-102 is done. It's a pain doing these segments, but I'm getting about 2 minutes per level (while still doing quests).

Next up is the countess.. this is going to be harder than i thought. The rogues are all cold immune, and extra fast 100% of the time. I'll probably just have to clear the area and make them run single file through doorway into my merc. It'll be a break from the above leveling pace.

Still, at this pace, I'll be 60 before entering act 3. That'd be nice.
