I actually pulled off a No Augment Ghost run with little to no item usage, recently. Didn't take as long as I thought it might, but it was pretty boring to watch...then again I'm not the best commentator as I play through games.

I can't seem to figure out how to pass through the lasers that early.

You need to crouch a bit before the laser and stay crouched a bit after the laser beam. I've found that sometimes the alarm doesn't trigger even when the laser is on.

To clarify why this wasn't working for me, and how to do it reliably:

Holding forward during the loading screen will allow Adam to take one step before usually being allowed to move, making it possible to reach the lasers in time to slip in between during the first interruption of the laser beam. I usually never hold forward during loading screens, making it seemingly impossible for me. If you listen closely as the cutscene ends, you can hear the stepping sound.

Quote from Onin:
Escaping Zhao's penthouse stealthily isn't that hard, really. It just takes one vent shaft and a lot of patience waiting for the guards to pathe the right way.

Try putting a concussion mine on the upper level.  Some of the guards will patrol up there, and then one of them sets off the mine and everybody goes to look except the two heavies.  Nobody gets knocked out and subsequently discovered, so you can still get ghost for that part.

Re: no augs vs no guns, why not do both?  Grenades and mines aren't guns Tongue
It's possible to escape the penthouse without using the vent or ever stopping, it's just very random and requires good timing.
none of these box boosts are very consistent for an SS, are they? Maybe they don't work on 360 or I'm just doing it wrong.
Then you're doing it wrong since I did it on the Xbox 360 as well Wink It's really not that difficult to do, but a bit inconsistent for a single-segment yes.

I'd be really impressed if you can make a boost jump in a SS. Easiest one is at picus.

I think I'm looking forward even more to runs of The Missing Link. Quite a few options, especially later on, and a much more limited tool set. Less planning, more Batmanery.

Is it possible to unlock the debug menu in The Missing Link ? I don't know how to do that.

Edit2: computer passwords in TML. I think I've got most of them, if any is missing just let me know. As with DX-HR, look for the username and the next line is likely to be the password.

Edit3: is one of you doing the DX HR speedrun ? Either SS or segmented.
My SS is on the backburner, but that's going to change when I start marathon practice next month. IDK about Vunik either.

So does The Missing Link interject itself into the gameplay at some point, or is it accessible through a menu? If it interjects, I want to avoid downloading it on console.

I had some time over to spend looking through the DLC, and pretty much what I've come up with is:

The first two codes you need are of course 0451 and 7331, and the code to the storage room with your equipment is 1923, you want the stun gun/emp grenade here. The guard outside the storage room is avoidable, but it's possible a takedown will be faster than waiting for him to start patroling the area. Running in front of him to punch in the code might work, but I'm not sure what consequences that would make, if you managed to access the storage before getting interrupted or killed.

I upgraded the cloak to max skill, and the energy cell regeneration to max skill at this point. Edit: Replayed and skipped  the energy cell augment, it's not really needed. I opted for the leg augments at this part, costing me all my seven points.

Make your way up to the deck, the first guy outside can be avoided by just running past him, even without the cloak. The code to get inside the ship is 1284, cloak past the lasers to avoid setting off the alarm and get inside the next room to trigger the cutscene.
There's a proenergy pack in the left locker, I'm not sure of where to find all the consumables at this point, so I took it and ran past the guards with cloak. Jump down the hole and grab the ladder at the bottom, run into the next room, cloak between the guys talking and into the next room. I just cloaked past the guard at the next hole with the lasers and grabbed the ladder at the bottom as my energy cells ran out.

Go down the elevator and cloak past everyone in the next room, if you haven't used the proenergy pack yet, you might need to use it here. If no one saw you at this point, there'll be a lot less traps and bots around in the rifleman station, so I spent some time making sure I never got caught. It doesn't really slow you down, and it does save a bit on your energy. Make your way through to Keitner and cloak as necessery, at this point it doesn't really matter if you get spotted.

Rendezvous with Keitner and make your way to Burke's office, stun gun away at the guy guarding the door, otherwise he'll hear you when you open the door behind him. The code to Burke's office is 6325. I think you'll have the points for the leg augmentations at this point.

In the detention block, you don't need to cloak at all on the first level, so that time can be used to recharge your energy for the descent of the detention block. Just take the stairs up the tower, take out the guard with the stun gun and make your way up the stairs on the sides. Cloak past the bots and lasers for extra experience points, if needed. There's a proenergy bar in the first room on the right on your way to the morgue. Edit: I could buy all the rebreather augment upgrades at this point.

Backtrack to the detention block, if you have a Praxis point to spare at this point, pick up the heavy lifting and do a drop on the larger box as you reach the big room again, otherwise just go down to the second level and pick up a smaller box for a drop down. Edit: Definitely go for the box on the second level.

Cloak as you land on the floor to avoid being caught by the guards. Cloak past the laser in the room after the check-up, and cloak past the guys outside the elevator towards Quinn. You could buy a lot of proenergy stuff off of Quinn, but I didn't really need any of it. Take the elevator back up, cloak past everything and into the detention block. Edit: I would really love to have another proenergy bar at this point, but I really don't know if there are any quick one's, I'll probably have to search the guards I take out, to see if I can find one more.

Take the elevator down to Kavanagh, there's a proenergy pack in her lab. On the way back, it's possible to just jump on the railings and whatever to avoid most of the obstacles in the descent of the elevator shaft, if you have the leg augmentation. Pick up the gas grenade before dropping down into the room with the guards and make your way back to the detention block. After the Keitner cutscene, loot two gas grenades from the ammo box in the same room. Cloak as soon as you enter the big room again. This time, drop with the smaller box and climb the stairs to the top of the tower in the middle. Drop down the hole and gas the lab/prison, I don't know which one's faster. Climb the ladder and lay low until the transmission's finished.

Head back to get mocked by Burke, and when going back into the base, instantly climb to the second level, take out any guards with the stun gun and punch in 8078 on the level 5 security door. A quick left and you're in the final room, without having to use the cloak even once.

Throw an EMP on the bot, one gas grenade at each sniper and run behind the boxes to your right to take out the guard with your stun gun. Throw a gas grenade on top of Burke's hideout to take out both the heavy and Burke, and stun the last guard alive. Wait for Quinn's transmission and finish the game.

I'd love to see what anyone else would think of this mission, seeing as it's very flexible, and that I at this point still don't know too much about it.

TML is a 2GB download and is a separate exe in steam.

@sportlov: awesome. I'm going to explore the maps a bit as well. There are a lot of praxis kits, mine templates and explosive barrels. Maybe we can find some shortcuts there. But without the debug menu it's not going to be very fun. I'm just going to explore on easy, and maybe I can edit some hypostim in my save file. That would be nice.
The boss fight is very easy. I don't even know how I killed Burke. I think I sniped him.

Edit: I can't find the save files anywhere Sad For DX HR, they are in steam/userdata/(bunch of numbers)/(bunch of numbers)/remote
Edit2: duh they are at the same location. Windows wasn't updating the modification date.

Ok, here is part 1 of my speedrun route. I think the AI is pretty funny at 0:30. I take the rebreather level 2, level 1 leg and level 1 cloak augs.
Yeah, killing Burke is easy, but I had 3 stun gun darts and 3 gas grenades upon reaching him, I really didn't bother picking anything else up, and you need to kill everything in his room.

You can distract the first guard with the fire extinguisher on the wall next to him, he'll start patroling and will be out of your way before you get back outside when picking up the stuff at the beginning, it's probably just as fast as what you did, and doesn't trigger the alarm.

I'm intruiged by your choices with augs, and I'm very interested in how you'll play with that little resources, of course you can play very reckless, but it will of course make the rifleman station a bit more tedious, seeing as you have to deal with the additional guards and traps for setting off the alarm on the boat.

It looks nice thus far! I'll see if I can just slap together a route video of what I wrote down in my long post, it's hard to visualize a whole game in just a couple of lines of text.

I haven't planned anything ^^ I took the augs that make me go faster, and hope for the best.

I was wondering, maybe the tranquilizer rifle can be used for the boss fight.
I'm not sure of where to find a tranquilizer rifle, actually, but it's possible it's faster to use it somewhere. If you can find a frag grenade/strong enough weapon somewhere, it's possible it'll be faster to break the glass between yourself and Burke and kill him instead of knocking him out, seeing as it will skip the "Ugh, you're not making this easy, are you?" part of the transmission following the final room.

Right at the beginning, in one of the containers. I've already skipped it in my video.

Edit: I've uploaded part 2 of my route. I don't want to spam the forum, so I won't be posting all of my segments.
@sportlov: Yes, make a video. It'd be interesting to compare the routes. But from what you wrote I think they are very similar.

I made a video of the part up until Rifleman Bank. It's probably processing at the moment.

By canceling the cloak earlier, it's very possible you could do the whole ship on just one energy cell, allowing the second one to regenerate in the beginning of Rifleman. It's probably not that big of a deal though.

Edit: I really didn't have to shoot the guard at 2:01, I could've had just fooled him as I fooled the guard at 1:15, and I don't know why I activated the cloak right after that either, I think I was afraid I was going to break the laser, seeing as I got stuck for a moment at the top of the hatch.

Very nice work ! I don't know why I didn't take the sprint enhancement, silly me. Well I guess we will see were this will take me. Part 3 will be up in 30min.

I'm done with my speed run route videos, hopefully you can access this playlist. I'm not used to Youtube at all.

The last room of the game is quite slow, but it's the best I can do with the arsenal I've given myself during the course of  this.

Yes the playlist is working. I've skipped most of your last video (just to see the boss fight), I'd like to find my own route and then compare it to yours. That'd be interesting Smiley Do you know what your total time is (including the parts that were edited) ?
I've found a cool boost jump. Doesn't save much time tho. The video will be up later today.

Edit: yay boost jump

See the description of the video for more details.
I don't know how much I edited out, but it might be easier to just discount that which I cut out from your total time when you're done, to see what kind of time you got compared to me. I'll see if I can get a more accurate timing by timing the bioscans and Burke's speech at the end, though.

For my route, unfortunately, that boost jump, while a cool addition, breaks stealth, which means I'm not getting enough experience for the rebreather on my way back. If you can somehow bring the fire extinguisher with you to the top, to use it to drop down on your way back, I'm sure it'll still be worth it though.

The boost jump can save 2sec top I think. In my last segment (up in 1-2h) there is another boost jump, but once again I don't think it saves much time.
Edit: on my way back I use the large wooden crate.
Yeah, I used the wooden crate the second time around. I'm thinking if you can use something else the first time, to avoid having to descend to the second level and drop from there on one occasion.

Wait.. I never had to go to the 2nd floor. I'm confused now Cheesy Well you'll see for yourself. My total time, including everything (including the final conversation with "Quinn") except segments is about 22:10
I'm encoding the video right now, but it will take forever to upload.
