I'm trying to do the same project but in impossible mode
first i will analyze the best posible time of each chapter.
and for chapter 1 this is my best result in [impossible-mode], i'm saving for now to know the final time for the "internal game"

once I have all best times for the 12 chapters shall begin to try the single-segment

I see your speed run is almost ready, what will be your video settings?
30 or 60 frames for second?

sorry for hiatus but school has cut into my time. i will submit once i record a worthy run. as for impossible runs single segment would be torture. you take so much damage and enemys are more aggresive making them more lethal. segmented would be much more successful so you could get proper enemy spawns and drops. good luck with chapters 9 and 7!

I've been working on easy runs. So far i have gotten through chapter 3 with a 49:18 and I can still shave about a minute and a half off of it. Once I get better with that I'll add through Ch. 6 and so on. The main problem I've been having is with my supply of stasis without picking up the two available packs to save inventory time. With the next run I do I'll probably charge at the one in the medical deck.

just so were clear sahailaway are you playing on PC? if so you got advantage with faster load times. and are you using in game timer?
the in game timer allways knocks off like 2 mins my time when i beat the game. so i don't fully trust it.

Yes i'm playing on pc.

Load new chapter on xbox360 or pc takes 5 seconds. Sometimes 10 seconds on pc
...multiples of 5 seconds depending of cpu specs.
but i'm agree with you, i have a advantage: "Dexterity is better with mouse and keyboard"
My Failed Run have a total duration of 37m44s. if i put a gamer timer, this starts the count when i press "new game" this skip 20 seconds of intro:

with game timer then is about 37:24
and the only loads are when a new chapter is completed because if i die, i reset the game. just like you: and you was righ, chapters 7 & 9 are really a headache! Angry

so, if game-timer knocks the time, you should save at last in chapter 12. i'll do.
would be a shame never know the "total-time" for the console data.

as of how i time my runs i start my timer after i confirm my brightness. And i agree that the mouse gives you much better reaction time and faster camera moment. i also play single segment my timer is still going after i beat every chapter. my w-split says 40:31 at the end of chapter 3.

ok i have been doing my own testing with the in game timer. so far i have seen around a 30 sec difference for every additional chapter. i had a in game time on the end of chapter 1 0:17:29, but my Wsplit timer says 0:18:08. And then on chapter 2 in game time was 0:27:06 but my wsplit time was 0:28:44. i played on the 360 so i can't really compare times myself with yours sahailaway, but in my its my opinion that the PC is the overall faster game.
I'll be streaming this game for most the holidays so if you want to chat together to compare strats feel free to join.

its ok, in game timer I have an advantage of 5 seconds in load for each chapter, total will be (5sec)x(11loads)=55 secs
chapter 1 don't have a load screen. so, my advantage starts at the end of chapter 2.
but now I'm in trouble... i cant complete the game in impossible, i always die!, some enemies can kill me with one hit even if i have a full vitality and full amno isn't enough in quarantine
I'm seriously considering lowering the difficulty to "Hard Mode".. just the brutes are a real pain!
Black Brutes and Leviathan, these 2 are too tough!

thats part of the reason why i haven't done a speed run of impossible. this game wants you to upgrade to handle the black brutes and the sheer numbers you will have to face. now i want to see how you would do a easy run. theres not alot of other runners of dead space so i don't have many to compare to.
i hope to have my run complete soon but i have had bad luck with enemy paterns.

People Running in Easy, Medium & Hard, maybe impossible mode is... [impossible] with lv1suit and no upgrades jeje.
I have so many attempts!, that I could do a compilation of my failures Tongue

Anyway, my goal is to finish a Run before January!

Pardon my ignorance, I've honestly never even played the first game, so this is an honest question - what prevents you from upgrading your equips?

Each weapon's upgrade or suit takes several seconds. This goes against the original idea "SpeedRun" "Finish the game in the less possible time!"

Except if upgrading your weapon or suit will save some time later on, i.e. stronger weapons to kill bosses faster.

this is why i believe that easy mode will be faster because i have beaten the game with only one stop at the upgrade station in chapter 7. chapter 7 is the only time to upgrade without losing time due to a cutscene. it takes a about a minuet and 10 secs to go thru the cutscene for every suit upgrade. this goes for both games. i plan to record a full run even if its not my best ever so i can show my ideas and maybe get some input.

well i got some bad news. my recordings have been not lackluster but more just really crappy quality audio and video. my laptop just doesn't have the power to record at standard i prefer. until i get some new hardware this run is on hold for me.

Sorry for not being around for a while..... School has been taking a major priority for now...... I'll probably do a couple of casual playthroughs on normal to get the feel for it because I'm still having a bit of trouble with the enemy health but I should be able to pull through.... anywayz...... I feel that I could definitely pull a sub-1:30 on ch. 1-6 if I can just be alone for a long enough time.....
