Remember CTR is one of my three favorite games

I haven't played in a while (wow almost four years!):

SEWER SPEEDWAY
My best lap time w/N.Gin just now was 39:04
Same race I clocked 1:59:13

I beat oxide with that time Wink

I used to play this pretty heavily, though it's been a few years now. I can feel the rust.

You are using N.Gin right? Because that seems pretty close to perfection with him.

Ive got down to 1:55:39 track time
and 37:50 individual lap

Do me a favor and dont improve your time until I catch it, that way it seems mildly reasonable to attain Wink

It's a BIG HEAD!

No offense, but I can't see any reason why only take times with N.Gin. I shouldn't be that much more to do even if you add the other characters. I'm quite sure I and my friend have the best times in all the tracks, but none of them use Gin. As such, I don't have any times to contribute now.

XFUBX: You probably should remove the "No Glitching" rule and replace it with "No codes besides Penta Penguin"
You cant unlock penta without a code but there are a couple of CHEAT codes IIRC that give you infinite high boost and turns all the pads into super pads.

We want the glitches, they enable the tracks to be performed more quickly.

If XFUBX decides to change the challenge then well add more times.
I have plenty of times that beat these as well but the fun of this challenge is seeing how well we can optimize the tracks with this character. So take a few minutes and enjoy the game enough to post some NEW times

It's beena long time since I and my friend played this, so no way we could get impressive times, which most use awesometastic routes...

It should be pretty beatable, it was just the first time I got where I didn't crash. It's not even close to my best penta times from back in the day.

Just got 2:04.14 for mystery caves on my first try (40.81 lap). You know this topic is really making me want to try for a serious adventure mode speedrun.

I tried my hand at an adventure run earlier but it was an exercise in stupidity and ineptness so I'll just have to stick to this for a while. Still any excuse to play more CTR Wink

Penta is unlocked with a code? I thought you had to play for 20 hours or something.

No penta isnt unlockable by playing.

I remember playing for days and thinking there is just one more spot for a racer here. It must be Oxide when you finally beat him in time trial mode. I beat him in every track and..... nothing. HA, so I looked it up online. There is no way to play as Oxide, but I could unlock this stupid PENGUIN with a code. Great, turns he's pretty usefull, penta is the only character that fast with such a small turning arc.

Unlock Penta Penguin in versus, arcade, time trial, and battle modes:
Hold L1 + R1 and press Down, Right, Triangle, Down, Left, Triangle, Up
at the main menu to race as Penta Penguin. A sound will confirm the
correct code entry.

What about relic runs?
Those would have to be in adventure, so your character would be tied down, but relic runs would still be a good thing to add.

My Slide Coliseum (relic) best is just under platinum time with Crash.

Is this thread dead? C'mon, let's revive the casual CTR running scene. Cheesy

I started running this game 5 days ago because of nostalgia reasons and I finished the adventure mode (round 1 vs. Oxide) in 59:37. I played it on emulator and I know that the time sadly isn't amazing. :c
But would anyone share some tricks to get better in CTR? I'm currently using N.Gin for adventure mode since he and Coco seem to be god tier.
PS: Papu's Pyramide is the bane of my existence.

Coco and N. Gin have the best acceleration. Fastest characters who are available in adventure mode are Tiny and Dingodile.

So, I just finished uploading a 59:51 which I recorder last night. I tell you, playing with laggs all the time is really hard.

is good for like theory and stuffs. There's also the #crashbandicoot crew on SRL IRC who all live on Skype and they are all good and stream. Also there's a google doc (I'm too lazy to fetch it) in the topic of #crashbandicoot which shows you the times and everyone's video if they bothered to link it so you can watch fast runs as well to learn off of.

how do you turn real sharp in mid air? i know holding the square button will do it, but then you get slide and it slows you down.. what are the quickest ways to turn tight bends?

There are different styles of turning. All involving Square, L1 or R1, or down.

Fastest turn is Square + Left/Right + Down.
