Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
It randomly came to mind as I was scrolling through my box of PS1 goodies. It seems like a good game to a speed run for. I'll experiment and see what I can come up with.

But It's been years since I picked it up, so anyone here could probably outdo me. By all means you're all invited to comment and participate. x]
Thread title:
yeah, I renember that title, my cosuin once one of these, too, butI can't exactly renember whether it was 1 or 2.. or 3... well...
Good luck with your run anway, if 2 and/or 3 are the same like the one I played, or didn't change I'd say they're very good running titles since you only need to get some boxes and things, so you can go quite straight through the levels...
Rock on, Earthbound. Rock on.
I'm kinda iffy about this...  I never much cared for the Crash series, actually.  it felt too confined to me (compared to, say, Mario 64) and even though it was fun and funny, it just never felt quite right to me.  In any case, I wonder what could truly be done with speedrunning this game series...  there aren't exactley many tricks around, are there?  most of it will just be running in one direction, and avoiding enemies.  That doesn't seem very interesting to me...
Well, there're many runs using no tricks, eg. consider the Banjo Kazooie 100% run I can't renember he uses any trick in this game. Just finishing the game real smooth - and fast.
Not going to school today
I'd be interested in this.  It's basically the Spyro games with a different protagonist.  And a lot of speedruns are running around real fast not getting hit by enemies, and they seem interesting to me.  For example, Super Mario Bros.  That seems to be exactly what a speedrun is.
Did I shoot 3 times or once from different angles
Go for it. That game could get hard at times(part one was atleast).
Nintendo are the Gods of gaming
Urgh..3 was an awful game, lol. I can't really comment on it as I didn't like it..

1 and 2 I really enjoyed though, it's a very restrictive game where there's lack of routes etc which IMO makes for a good speed run. No fannying about with the easiest route etc, simply mastering the only way there is.

I'd love to see a Crash Bandicoot run, so good luck if you do it!  Grin
Coming from the guy who did the DKC2 speed run, a speed run of a linear game can be very exciting, especially when the game itself offers little room for error in terms of "Hey, you only got 2 hits and you're done."

I would watch this run.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
me too Grin
Rock on, Earthbound. Rock on.
I hadn't thought about the old school platformers...  then again, with the exception of the megaman games, and the SNES Marios and Metroid, I haven't seen many that stuck with me, maybe I should just be quiet about it ^_^;;

Also, I'm gonna have to say that Crash is not really at all like Spyro.  one is a 3D platformer on rails with a two-hit spinning marsupial, and one is a free-roaming 3D platformer with a dragon that can charge, breathe fire, and fly.  Pretty harsh difference there.
Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
Sorry to let you all down, (I didn't have an opporunity to check here yesterday) But I found out shortly that my Crash 2 disk is too scratched to play. x\ So I won't be doing the run unless I miracally find one at GameStop tommrow.

I still can't find my crash 3, but I agree with everyone I'd love to see someone do a Crash run, preferrably Crash 2.
I'm planning on doing a Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back any% run over the Summer, so if I manage it, I'll send it to the Site.
Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
Cool, I'd recommend a minimum% run, where you just do the bare minimum to pass, which I'm assuming is a 25 crystal run, right? Or were those box crystals required?.. x\
Take This! Ultra Frisbee-Disk Attack!
The Crash Bandicoot games for PS were awesome and I actually have the 3rd one in the series. A minimalist run might serve quite well in this situation. I'll think about it after I do runs on the other games.

Woah, you bumped a topic I don't even remember starting.

...

No wonder, I started this topic about a year and 4 months ago! Allow me to speed you up to date on a few things:

1) I speedran Crash 2 100% in 7 segments, it got rejected.
2) I speedran Crash 3 105% in 13 segments, it was worse, and got rejected.
3) I retried speedrunning Crash 2, the disc started to malfunction so it was delayed indefinately.
4) I obtained a DVD recorder, ebayed a working copy of Crash 2, and have already began a 3rd attempt at a 100% segmented run with death-abuse. I've completed segments 1 and 2. For more on that check my thread at:

http://speeddemosarchive.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=consoles_newer;action=display;num=1121238714;start=0#0

As for Crash 3, I want to go for that 105% again, eventually, but I suppose it's anyone's game right now.

I'll put a response in the newer thread. Hold on a minute.
