Never give up!
Is yours in a single segment or multiple segments?

If it's in one segment, feel free.  If you're doing a low% (in this game, any% is the same as low%) run in multiple segments, that's fine, too.  But Trihex is working on his own 100% run in multiple segments, so if you're going that route, you have competition.

Whatever way you're going, I'd suggest looking at http://speeddemosarchive.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=consoles_newer;action=display;num=1121238714.
I think Crash series speedruns would rule. Those games were a hit back in the PSX days. Good luck if you're doing the 100%
I thought about doing this myself. However, I'm just not that good at this game.

I recommend you do a segmented run, since it is (obviously) easier. After every boss, save the game and end your recording.

If you want some tips, I'll give you some:
  • Use an analog controller. It'll hurt your thumb if you use the directional pad.
  • Cut every corner. Walking on the side of holes may also save time.
  • Ignore monsters. They just waste time.
  • Always get Aku Aku boxes. One you collect 3, you'll move quicker and instantly kill monsters.
  • Ignore all other boxes. Wampa fruit and lives shouldn't be required for a speedrunner.

That's all the tips I can give you. Please note that my knowledge is vague, because I haven't played it in ages.

The reason I choose to do 100% segmented is because I found doing an any% too uneventful for:

a) An any% consists of going through each level fast, nothing more.
b) It's pathetically easy to do.
c) There's nothing that can be done out of the ordinary to impress me if I were to watch the run.

For Crash 2, 100% is really the only way to go. You can still have at it, please don't let me discourage you. The more Crash 2, the better. Wink

Oh, in case you were interested, I do plan to revisit Crash 3 105% segmented in the future as well. However, I have no plans for Crash 1. Cheesy
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
thanks for the tips and all guys, maybe ill just do a pure speed run. Ive beaten the game before so it will not be that hard i think.
Take This! Ultra Frisbee-Disk Attack!
I'd be interested in a quite a lot, I like the older Crash games better than the newer ones. The PS2 Crash pissed me off b/c the damn loading screen took FOREVER to get to the next level, exiting a level, or just whenever the load screen came up, but the game was pretty good despite the loading screen problem.

A Crash speedrun would be awesome.  Crash Bandicoot 1 was the first video game I ever played.  Second Crash game is my favorite though.
Battle Is My Forte
Crash Bandicoot 2&3 were the best.
1 was annoying, since you can only get those bonus level tickets once >_>

4+ were terrible, probably because naughty dog wasnt doing it anymore >_<

cant wait till to see the runs (never saw the good endings of CB2+ ,just aint good enough )
