Jack of all Trades
I bought this over steam as a lark (hey, 15 bucks...) and I found the "Deleted Scenes" single player campaign to be quite fun and, dare I say, speedrun worthy.

I think it'll be pretty entertaining because:
- lots and lots of people die
- there are a lot of explosions and debris flying all over the place
- lots of screaming and yelling
- the levels are linear and fairly short; max of maybe 10 minutes I think

I've had no trouble recording demos, although before each level the screen is supposed to be black and show the level name and other information but in the demo playback the blackness is gone and I'm just standing there :O.

I haven't tried "hard" yet, but running through normal is already quite bad for your well being, so we'll see.

OK, now I have a problem...I need a way to convert the demos to a movie, and my trial version of Camtasia has run out.

Ngamer...! Or someone with FRAPS. Halp!

I can't do it like I did Hl2 because VALVe was cool with that game and when you made the .bmps they also recorded a nice .wav for you...

capturing the sound is easy. Pick any free sound capturing program, input device should be "what you hear". Click "record", start your demo.

You'll have to manually cut the wav to synchronize it to video though.

I hope things work out. I enjoy watching FPS speed runs alot and I am sure this will be no exception :rocker:

I just have two levels done so far but I think they're quite nice looking...although I am sad that the LAW rocket sounds don't show up in the demo: click, clack, KA-CHUNK! It makes me feel like a demi-god when I hear that.
Jack of all Trades
I have a good seven or so levels done now. Just wait...you guys will see...!
I'm indifferent towards YaBB 1G - SP1!
I look forward to seeing these - Condition Zero was an excellent game  Grin

A question for Radix: is it ok if I die at the end of the mission but I finish the level anyway? Because after you complete the level in this game you sit around as the screen fades out and enemies can still shoot you etc...and when you die your view slumps over but you don't have to restart until you hit a key.

In one level there's a target at the end and there's a crapload of soldiers around it...what I do is toss a nade at it, the nades blows up, level completed, and then I die...but the level is over. It finishes.

Better be OK...! Wink

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I am very interested in this run .... it's a great idea and I'm looking forward to seeing it. So I have a question for marshmallow, are you still planning on doing it 'cause it's been a long time since we don't have any news about this run?

And by the way, congratulations to all the runners, most of the speed runs are really impressive... Good job to all of you!!!
Jack of all Trades
It's been done for some time.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
oh ok thanks!!!
But, where can I find it please, because it isn't listed on SDA so I don't have any idea....
Jack of all Trades
They'll be up eventually.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Hey, I was wondering, is anybody also interested in the non-deleted scenes part of the game? I think I can do quite a good speedrun on that, either on normal or hard (extreme is too random for a good speedrun, I think). Anyone interested?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
We are interested but marshmallow already did one... You should just try to contact him to know how long he needed to finish that game (who knows, maybe your time will be better). If that's the case then it would be a good idea for you to do that run. If not, you would just be wasting your time, that is why I'm warning you....
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Well I read that he did the Deleted Scenes. What I'm talking about is the Turtle Rock missions in the original game (you play with bots on various maps).

Oops my mistake! I didn't read carefully, sorry....

So, anyone interested?

Definitely  Grin Out of interest, are you planning on doing one map at a time or the whole game at once?

I was thinking about one map at a time, but what would you like most to see?

I'm fine seeing either, but I was thinking one map at a time is probably better as you'll be able to reduce the luck factor quite a lot (I remember some rounds taking quite a while simply because the last Terrorist was camping far off in some obscure corner of the map).

Good luck with it anyway.  Grin

Okay, so I did the first map (de_dust) in 2:14 after a LOT of tries. It'll be hard to do all the maps at high speed because the bot's behaviour is very random and they can basically basecamp and ruin your speedrun. But every map is three rounds so I think 2/3 of the rounds at least will go very well.

Nice time. What difficulty are you playing on btw? (I might try some maps for myself sometime  Wink )

I'm first playing through normal because I think the later maps will get quite hard to do fast anyway. And yes, it's easy to win but it isn't easy to win FAST.

cs_office 2:58
de_prodigy 2:18
de_tides 2:01
cs_italy 3:03 Sad
de_inferno 2:44
