After I read your post I tried my luck at de_dust @ normal skill too. How do you time your best times? Do you have played with 3 bots?

Btw. strange things happend after you beat the first mission (de_dust) in under about 1:30 with the regular 3 bot limit. You automatically get the next mission (cs_office) also as [Secured] Huh? without playing it once(!) and the bot limit was raised to 5 bots Shocked (de_dust too) !? Anyone knows WHY *lol*?

-Edit-:
~1:06 by round timer (:22/:24/:20) @ de_dust
~1:03 by round timer (:23/:20/:20) @ de_prodigy

I didn't get that, probably because I wasn't fast enough. Bot limit depends per mission I believe, the more you progress in the game the more bots will play. Can you host a video of your times? I want to see it.

I have entertained the notion of performing speedruns for the bot challenges or whatever you want to call them. I'm not sure how you have 20 second rounds 3x in a row though unless you have amazing luck. How often do you have to play to get that? o_O

I can't do a SS run because FRAPS makes my CZ run around roughly 20fps which is just not conducive to awping 6 bots in a row. I'll have to record demos for one stage at a time.

Also, it seems when you play on normal that there are more bots after you beat the stage. That is, if I make a new profile then Dust will have 3 bots. But then if I complete them all and go back there will be 6. :O

I also would like some better levels...like maybe nuke, vertigo, oilrig, maybe survivor... =) Of course, that would require getting other mission packs which seem hard to find since their sites have long since died. Maybe I'll make a couple for my own entertainment. Wink

I'm doing speedruns on the levels with full bot numbers. I'm up to dust2 so far.

I also made my own campaign using maps from a custom map league I played in a long time ago...pretty funny.

CZ is OK; I mean, it's Counter-Strike still, but it has some annoying additions, like random sound differences and the way they neutered the grenade ricochets. The deagle model is hot stuff, though.

1.6 > CZ for online play.

That's right, you need some luck with the waypoints of the bots. But you can guess their pattern after playing a map over and over Wink .

So, what do you mean by full bot numbers and which difficulty? Expert is also not _that_ hard, but it's much harder to pull of a sweet looking run than on normal.

Here are my demos for the first "tour of duty" (dust, office, prodigy) after 2 days of trying (office sucks Grin ):

I don't play 1.6 or CZ online anymore, I am more used to Source... but CZ against bots for the challenge is still fun ;D. Btw. does somebody know where to find the config.cfg for CZ?

Burning_Death:

Point of order!

You are using normal CS 1.6 hostages! 90% of the challenge in a CZ hostage map involves getting the hostages to follow you correctly and praying that they don't magically get stuck or decide to look at the pretty wall texture.

Oh yeah, and you use team mates.

AND THE TUTOR!! Beep beep! Beep! Beep! Defuse the bomb! Beep beep!

I'm doing normal.

Your runs are "fresh" and have a minimum number of bots. Mine are when the levels are maxed out. For example, my dust1 run has 6 bots (and they don't all like to flock together, there's almost always 1-2 that go off by themselves somewhere).

The main problem with Expert are the objectives. I don't even see much of a difference in the bots themselves, since they all basically have wall/aim hacks, just delayed so you have a chance because they HS you from across the map with a P90 while running. But knifing bots, using scout, etc. is pretty challenging...unless you get all instant scout headshots it'll be pretty slow, too.
1.6 hostages??? I am using CS:CZ hostages I think. CS:CZ was released about 1/2 year after CS1.6 final, so... I can guarantee that I am playing with a fresh original CS:CZ installation without a registration via steam or something.

Yes, I've played with team mates to get a faster time (which was my point of interest), but 90% of the time they are useless.

I just played with a fresh CS:CZ and a new file after SDA rules, anything else would be a New game + for me or would not make sense to me like not playing with other team mates to reach a faster possible time.

CZ hostages look like this. When you get near them they yell at you and say different things if the enemies are close or far away. They react when you throw nades or get shot at. If a nade lands near them they will run away and hide.

Your hostages, which are 1.6, look like this this. Although mute except for when you touch them, they're much more reliable than the CZ ones...they just follow you to the end.

I've never seen those CZ hostages Shocked and don't know how to get them.
So it seems that there are different versions of CS:CZ, the retail version (which I own) and the steam version (which you own, right?).
Jack of all Trades
I only have the last five levels left (piranesi, torn, fastline, airstrip, and downed).

Downed might be one of the worst maps I have ever seen.

Airstrip is also horrible, but the fact that I have to use the shield to complete one of the objectives makes me want to quit...the shield seems useless against the bots, it seems to make the deagle less accurate somehow, and it blocks half the screen and makes it hard as hell to see. God VALVe, what were you thinking?

Same for fastline. Plus that level is terrible as well.

I am pretty sure that the shield was VALVe's idea. It was first introduced in normal 1.6 and was only removed from Source after a massive backlash. Of course, why it's still in 1.6 is anyone's guess (along with the amazingly disappointing awp delay...).
omg! wtf?
i like the tactical shield because it is.. well.. so tactical if you play teamplay wise (ex: on a corridor the tactical shield dude walks first and the other CT walk in line with him) Smiley
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

Praise the great noodled one, for Radix has put up my Condition Zero run!
Should we praise? Or should we be in a paralyzed state of fear?

Awesome speedrun, marshmallow. Smiley I'm a fan.
