Waiting hurts my soul...
Could this be an indication of a fake cart or maybe something is going bad in my SNES? I don't know anyone close by with another SNES to test this cart with. What's funny is I have Donkey Kong Country 2 that works just fine, and I hear it has a similar copy protection prevention.

Any ideas for fixing this?

Ganondorf = Donkey Kong LOOK IT UP!!
Holy shit I've never seen this before. Hahaha they put the Game Over pic as the background ; ____ ;
Have you been able to play the game before this? Or is this a fresh buy straight in the SNES?
I had something similar, although not for a game. I was watching an episode of the serie Angel and suddenly I got a Copy Protection fault, apparently it had something to do with the HDMI cable being a bit loose or something.

So yeah, check the cables? Wink
SOPA is already at work Sad
I like how it's a copy protection thing but it says "please refer to your instruction booklet"

What instruction booklet?!

I've cleaned the game three times (third time finally didn't have any dirt on the q-tips). So, unless there's some damage to the pins, or really persistent stains/dirt, the pins should be fine.

Yes, this is a new purchase, just got it from someone in a lot of other games that all work fine.

Yeah, pretty sure it's the part in the manual that says if I don't have a copying device connected that I need to contact my authorized Nintendo retailer... (pg 26.) [note: this site would probably be first to go if SOPA passes]

I didn't have any expectations of it being helpful even if I did have the manual, but since you mentioned it I looked it up.
I was just thinking that if you have a pirated copy you wouldn't have an instruction booklet lol Tongue but I think I'm misunderstanding, so never mind.
torch slug since 2006
this is cool stuff, never heard about it.
difficult and stupidly random
this kind of thing usually happens due to some of the pins not making a good connection.  if you've cleaned it repeatedly and still get it then it could be a broken pin or a bad connection within the cart.  imo this is more likely than it being a pirated copy.
either way i'd ask for my money back, except that if it came in a lot of games then you're probably s.o.l.

there has been a note about this on tcrf since at least January 2011.

"the warning uses Donkey Kong Country 3's Game Over screen, and the Boss theme. " <--- Is it strange that I don't get any music on this screen? Must be a bad connection, but I need another SNES to see if it's the cart or my SNES. Maybe I'll bring it when I come to a marathon.

Yeah, it came in a lot really cheaply. Honestly, I'd be spending more money on gas driving back out there for this one game. I'm not even sure if it's my SNES or the cart anyway.

Besides, it's only DKC3, who cares really. Wink
