I do it when I press "Normal". It might not be the best though, as I randomly lose/save 5-10 seconds before gaining control of Aurora (probably related to loadings).

Everyone who has ran it so far has been doing it on choosing difficulty and (for the most part) ending at the last input of the text boxes before the final cutscene/credits.

EDIT: The two ending points have been on that last text box or on the last hit of Umbra. I personally prefer on the text.

You can do a race without completing a no-death run. RNG could still mess you up in a race.

Yeah dying is actually not so bad in this game, because of how close you respawn. The 3mn I lost on Griffin without dying could possibly have been less by dying and resetting the fight.

I'd be up for a race on NG or NG+ any%, just let me know. I use this same name on Twitch. I'm also not particularly good at either category.

Arh, what I meant is I've set myself a goal to complete a deathless run before anything else lol.
I haven't got the requirements to run NG+, but I would be interested in racing NG, just gotta' find a good time where we are all free.

Hmm, I'm not sure if it was a problem with my PC but during a run I died to the end boss and I got an error message "Child of Light has stopped working and needs to close". Might just be a one off...
Just wondering if any of you guys have had a similar experience?

EDIT: The last text box is actually after the credits, so what text box do you guys stop the timer at?

Beat boss, mash through Umbra text, loading screen, like 6 lines of text to mash through (of her asking for help with the flood), split after the last one. Right before it goes into the cutscene/poem cinematic thing.

Unfortunately, real life is getting in the way at the moment. I should be able to get back into Child Of Light sometime in June.

I'd definitely be up for some races too once real life calms down.

The RNG was great, insane boss battles, deathless. Time can be saved from little mistakes, but no more than 2mn imo.
Sub 1:30 is the next step, but it might not be achievable with current strats.

Hay guys, been a fan of speed runs for a while and practicing Child of Light. But i have the Golem dlc. I know dlc is not allowed in any category but i do engage in a c/s talking with the head. is there a way to lock the dlc?

If you're on PC, yes. If you're on console, don't know.

Check the first or second page of this thread, I list a way (essentially remove/rename the DLC folder for Child of Light you can find in the Steam folder).

Well, after hours of collecting stardust, HP does NOT cap at 999 (like I thought, maybe others too?). So my next theory is it caps at 9999. Stats I'm still curious about, but I think they cap at 999. Maybe I can be wrong and we can just one shot everything in NG+.

Through certain means, i did get myself enough magic stardust and it does cap at 999, weak to light enemies hit for around 8k, others 4k. So i don't think 1 hitting everything will be possible but 2-3 round all bosses should be close.
(and don't worry i reset my save file back to normal)

Well, I've been messing around with the game at work.

Previously I noticed after you kill the big spider you can get into the pause menu after the auto text boxes. In NG+ this really doesn't mean anything since you don't get Robert and don't have to deal with that cutscene. However, for regular NG it may mean that you can skip that cutscene. It's really, really insane getting the timing for it. If you spam start (or ESC on PC?) you can see that the menu opens. However, since I've been spamming it I've been closing it too, lol.

If someone can see if you can get into the menu after killing the big spider and teleport to Bolmus Populli (whatever it's called, off the top of my head is bad), you may be able to skip that extra cutscene with Robert. That is, pause menu, map, Bolmus Populli, go back down to the giant, enter Cliffs of Erin. This could save a good 1-2 min if it works like how I described. Again, the timing is incredibly dumb.

And just a couple odd notes I've had in my mind that do absolutely nothing (except maybe 100%?):
After the first small spider (all the way on the left) you have control of Ignuculus, not the same for any other spider. (You can get the stardust left of the spider during this before it starts panning)
During the first Nox cutscene where she's filling the room with poison gas, you can also control him.

I also noticed you can access the pause menu during the cutscene right before the second giant. Insane timing too, but I don't really see how to use that.
