Now we can include Finn in NG route, I was wondering which element to focus on.
I guess Lightning is the best, as it's strong against Griffin, Water Boss and Nox, but maybe I'm wrong. I don't see how Fire and Water could come in handy.
When I was doing practice NG runs I'd always go for Lightning. It has far more enemies that are weak to it than Fire and Water.

But very nice find on it Nostra! I hope it brings down NG times some more. Pretty soon NG+ won't even matter and you'll just be doing 45 minute runs.

Yeah, Lightning also has the magic damage boost....in my runs where i've been getting Finn its been easily the best line.

Also I've been curious: Why the light ray line instead of the starlight line? Counterattack seems like it wastes time more than anything in most fights, and starlight lets you get more casts off before needing to magic pot, thus saving time there as well. The only real difference i can see is the miniscule chance of an insta-kill, but i personally prefer reliability over randomness.
I think you are right about Starlight. I initially started to play with Light Ray for the damage and the insta-kill chance, but it turns out to be extremely unreliable. I think I'll start using Starlight from now on.

When I was trying to run NG I always went Starlight route. At that time Desregoth was still running it and he argued the case that damage elixirs/buffs (which it doesn't seem you use at all Nostra) will increase the damage Light Ray does to make it better than going for Starlight, then counterattack makes some fights faster if RNG is on your side.

Edit: Also finally maxed Aurora's stats out.

Edit2: Just finished a terrible run with maxed stats on Aurora, with an onyx/princess stone/princess stone, and with a crit I one-cycled  Umbra. I did like 13,254 or something.

Well I finally passed Devilsrose on NG+ with a 46:08 (old timing) and a 45:35 (new timing). Video: http://www.twitch.tv/olystice/c/4329286

With maxed stats and onyx/2x princess, you can one cycle first giant and Umbra. I'm not sure about Nox, haven't gotten crits, and the tentacles are very troll sometimes. But one cycle Umbra is really hype Cheesy

After having a miserable first half of a NG+ run (I was 40s behind around Cordelia, and finished the run 1s off of my PB), I decided to write up a pastebin asking the RNG gods to bless us with good RNG.

This is really -all- we're asking for: http://pastebin.com/KjpFtrPm

Note: It may actually be of some help for people picking up NG+ for boss strats.

I also think lightning would be the best since, how olystice said, more ennemies are weak to it than to fire/water. And moreover teh lightning path also has "rage of the capilli" which increase your spell power by 10/20/30%.
Here is the Finn Glitch video:

And my new PB (1:34:52):

I'm not satisfied by my new PB at all. It can be improved by at least 3mn, and Finn turned out to be pretty useless in this run.
I still get Finn in my route though, as i have new strats to make him more valuable.
New PB for NG+ at 44:27: http://www.twitch.tv/olystice/c/4336887

I might be done with this game. My sum of bests is 44:09, and I didn't do the long jump, which saves ~10s. So sub 44 is possible, but damn hard. And obviously with Norah maxed it will make Gryphon so easy, I could see the time dropping to like 43:30-43:45. Pending no route changes, that is.
You guys should start running NG. I think it's more fun because of the inconsistency, and relies more on improvisation.
I might even start NG Hard some day, if I feel like it.
Agreed with Nostra, NG+ just seems really boring to run since there's no real threat of actual failure.

For myself, I plan on starting to actually compete with you now that I finally got the Record on FFXII, so hopefully I can find some time to grind some runs out and get my boss strategies down. I also need to learn the Finn skip :\.
Don't worry about Finn skip, it might look hard but it's actually very easy. You just need to get the right timing to execute Start+Action button. And the time frame for the reset is high, there is no real way to fail it.

The glitch doesn't like me. I tried to do it and blue screened. Been a long time since I've gotten a BSOD.

I'm sure it's completely unrelated to the glitch, but I still think it's funny.
Wow that's impressive. I manage to crash the game 100% of the time with the right timing (TP2 glitch on the well does it I if remember correctly), but it never crashed my whole computer. Be sure to use TP1, teleport in the same zone (like Altar or the other one on the right).

I was messing around with the glitch some today and I think maybe some of this can help:

I used the TP glitch at a loading zone and was able to skip a cutscene. I used the TP2 glitch, but I think the TP1 should work in this case. It was specifically at Robert. After trying time and again to get it to skip just like Finn--just on the exit of the room back into the town vs entering the well--and it didn't work at skipping it. However, I teleported out of that room and went back to Bolmus Populi. The trigger for Robert is at the very far left of the town (there's a black line going down just about where the loading zone starts, just before where you enter to talk to the Mayor).

Now, using the TP2 method at this loading zone (it may work with TP1, it should really), I was able to recruit Robert into my party without the usual text and "X joined your party" message. I still had to go over to Magna and start his whole cutscene and everything, but that's not really the point of this. I think we can use this at some loading zones to skip through stuff--and possibly boss fights. I'm just too lazy to test it.

It's really just finding the trigger, then dashing into it as opposed to using the interact button.

Edit: Well, here's what happens if you use a trigger TP at Gryphon:

You can manage your dlcs within steam now, Uplay rewards will still have to be offline. 1 Less thing to manage by hand.

First off, grats to NostraDamon. Good job on the run and finding that stuff. Looks like I'll have a few new things to learn when real life cools down and lets me come back to the game. Cheesy

Also, I think it's right that Starlight is a more consistent choice, especially after after rechecking the numbers (worst offender being how little the damage difference is between the level 3 (All) versions of the spells). Going the Starlight route will probably wield the best times, until someone going the Light Ray route gets crazy luck and then we all curse at the amount of additional RNG we'll have to face. xD
Hi, I wonder if Norah and Nox have totally different stat or if the stardust use one the first still work on the second? Because i'm running the NG+ and i have some hésitation about buffing Norah, specialy about crit and speed.
And sorry for my english.
Ok, so seem like Nox and Norah are two different charactere. So no problème with giving stardust to Norah, don't make the fight with Nox harder.
Norah with a princesse stone could kill griffon in 1 hit. make the combat easy and without RNG.
