I'll mess around with it more after work. But when I played through and beat it on PS4 I didn't notice any glitches really.
But for PC, Ignicius (or whatever his name is, forgot) moves faster with the mouse.
Wasn't able to skip any cutscenes on PS4 either. But when you beat it, you have a NG+ (haven't started one yet, but you at least keep your levels, not sure about items/oculi/characters).
I think most of routing this game will be deciding the quickest and most effective ways to kill the bosses, the game seems relatively linear and I believe the puzzles are the same every playthrough (From what I've played). I don't really see there being any game breaking glitches, but I could be wrong.
Two quick things before I go back to work: http://gyazo.com/65a8ca5e15425303f86f79b00b533441 - In this room you can activate the platform directly above her head in this picture before you drop down and start the cutscene.
http://gyazo.com/028cf672617f686560d1d9394c7f0d9e - In this room after you match each light you can keep moving the wheel to change the color. (Obv red first, press up to switch to blue, then up again and switch to green--that way no purple is involved)
EDIT:
There's one mandatory battle you have to do before the first boss, however, it doesn't level you up. I recommend being level 3 for the first boss (makes it a hell of a lot easier, and it doesn't take long to get there--one battle will get you there if you do the one of the ghost/spider thing after the fountain before you enter the door for the puzzle I linked up top (the one with the moveable platforms).
I haven't figured out what menuing is fastest, but if you put a red oculi in your weapon for the fire damage, the spider thing only takes one hit to kill. Then the strat I use for the rest of the fight is just slowing the ghost and keep knocking it back on the timeline.
A couple more notes: 1) Characters receive experience even if they die and you still complete the fight. 2) All characters receive (I believe the same amount of) experience, regardless of participation in battle. 3) After you get 3+ characters you can switch them out in battle, and you can only have 2 on the battle field at any given time. 4) After you originally beat the game you have to delete your data before you can start a "New Game" vs "New Game +". 5) If you have any DLC (like me, cuz I pre-ordered) you can delete/move/rename your "DLC" folder located inside "Steam\SteamApps\common\Child of Light" (if you're using Steam of course) in order to de-activate it.
Unfortunately I won't be able to play until Saturday when I get home, as the laptop I brought with me isn't good enough to run the game.
What do you guys think should be standard for new game and new game+ categories? I would assume no DLC. What about the uwin prizes in uplay?
If any of you have beaten it, how long do you feel a run would be? What categories could there be? Low%, any%, and 100%? What would be the differences in the categories?
If someone really wants to use DLC they can have their own category. I'd say the game as it is out of the box. So no DLC/UWIN prizes, that's dumb.
It took me about 6-7hr to casually play it. I'd say it would be about a 3hr speedrun for an any%. I'd estimate maybe 4-5hr for 100%.
100% would be all characters, all Lemurian Requests, all confessions, and probably some more stuff I'm forgetting.
I've never been fond of low% because I think it's an arbitrary category, so I'll ignore that. You can hate me later if you like low%. <3
And any% would obviously just beat the game as fast as possible. As of now there's no save/quit strats or anything like that, so I'd say there are 2 concrete categories.
Well, each character has a "Lemurian Request" (or short: quest/mission) you can do that have a boss at the end (I believe, can't remember, only did a couple). They're definitely not mandatory, but you can get the character even if you don't complete their quest.
For the boss fight, on the way to it there is a chest containing 2x mana potion iirc (I'm not sure if its too far out of the way). Do you think it would be faster to use 1 or 2 of them during the fight so you can use more starlight? EDIT: The chest may actually be after the fight, I'm not sure.
Looks nice, Symm. We might want to make sure routes are "optimized" and the run is decent before adding times to the spreadsheet, to avoid following in Octodad footsteps.
I worked on the game and had a route planned for when it would come out. As such, I just completed my first run (any%) and, from New Game to when the last boss dies, it took 2:05:01. I recorded the run, and I'll upload it to Youtube later (will be long to upload since the vid is 9GB).
For the Statues, I get there at lv2 (so I only do 1 "random" battle). The only characters I recruit are Rubella, Robert and Oengus; as such, I have to make Aurora a spellcaster as she's my only one.
Note that there is one glitch in the run. You don't have to do his quest to recruit Oengus. You can enter his quest area, then exit, go die to Crepusculum. Once you respawn, check your menu and Oengus will be with you (I messed it up in the run the first try cause I didn't recall if just running away worked and it doesn't. But I got it on the second attempt (second time I let her kill me)).
Pathing/flying was bad (ran it two enemies and went the wrong way a few times), menus weren't good, the controller I use for the PC isn't great (keyboard and mouse would probably be best, but since I worked on the console version, I decided to go with what I was used to) and I got way too many chests (I could and should have skipped all the chest that give Oculi since the only ones I use are drops from boss fights. I also don't use the defense potions).
I'll update this once the run is on Youtube.
Update 1: Video is still uploading. The upload should be completed in about 3 hours.
Update 2: Upload is done, but processing is taking forever. I'll edit again once the processing is done.
Awesome. Did you not find that gaining an extra level before the Statues fight saved time? As you will be able to dish out more damage to them. Looking forward to the video!
Even at Lv2, the fight is pretty straightforward (though RNG could get you as a crit on you or a dodge from an enemy would be very bad), but I did not actually time Lv2 vs Lv3 on PC, so I can't confirm which is overall faster (I worked on the PS3 version, and since it's the version with the longest loading times, Lv2 at the statues would be faster than grinding to Lv3 on PS3).
Oh I see. After I finish up working for today I'll write out the route and do a run or 2 myself =)
EDIT: "Symm: ubisoft use uplay and you must always sign into uplay before you can play pc ubisoft games Symm: the sign in process does not use 'verify your email' Symm: I must of made a typo in my email Symm: gave the product key to that account to play it Symm: i try to sign on now and the email is non existent but the account is Symm: if i create a new acc i need a new product key which i don't have"
Turns out I can't play the game anymore, atleast for a while lol!
Never mind contacted support and they got it working for me SURPRISINGLY fast! (I've heard they are known for slow and unhelpful responses)
The PC run I did is 5 minutes faster than my best PS3 test run, even though it has more mistakes in it (on my PS3 test run I didn't run into random enemies, I made less navigation mistakes, I didn't get unplanned deaths and I didn't mess up the Oengus glitch).
As for notes, they're unfortunately only in my head at the time. Though I definitively plan to write something down, be it only as a reminder for which chests to take. For the first boss, The Lv3 strat does seem faster, so I'll definitively try it next time I have the time to sit down with the game (so probably Friday evening or sometime Saturday).
