Hey all,
I was just wondering if anyone knows of a program out there that I can as a sort of checklist for route notes?
I looking for something that I can either type up or just copy my route notes into and have it check of line by line when I do stuff, Think Wsplit minus the timer for your route notes.
I know that this program isn't completely necessary and im aware it may not even exist, however I think it could be super useful since Ive found myself being lost in route notes for games thatg either require specific item pickups or just long/large open games.

*Example of what my route notes would look like before task*

1. Kill Maughlin with 4 witches urns and 1 dagger swipe, Take his armor.
2. Pick up items next to Blacksmith hut.
3. Speak to Emerald Herald, Walk away from her to skip dialogue + get Estus flask.
4. Light Majula Bonfire.

*After I hit a hotkey to say that I have completed the item in the checklist*

On the odd chance we have some programmers here who believe they could help create such program please let me know in the comments, Im willing to throw some money your way if needed because I know I would use this program a whole bunch!

Thanks, Hopefully someone here ethier knows of such a program or can help me create one.

So basically you just need a program that you put a list of things together, assign (a) hotkey(s), then as you press the hotkey(s) it marks the items as complete?

Pretty much Sir VG. I see it working like Wsplit but without the timer, and each split would be a line of your notes.

Again im no programmer (I actually do art stuff for a living) but I know it wouldn't be overly difficult for a decent programmer. Since it basically is just a check-list with features like, next line, previous line, Clear (this would clear the cross from the text and leave you with just your notes, basically reset on Wsplit.)
HELLO!
If you do these things in order you could just use a timer that's out there, but ignore the time part.

I concur with presjpolk.  Use any timer program of your choice and set the splits up so that it becomes your checklist.  This is what I have done in the past while I was learning the route, and re-learning when the route changed, until I fully learned the route.  I don't think it hurts to have lots of splits anyway because it makes it easier to see where you are gaining or losing time, which is useful to see how to optimize the run.

Though if you need a minor customization to suit your needs, I am more than happy to make an option for it on my timer program.

I'm screwing around with something in VB. Gives me a chance to try to learn dynamic programming. Don't know if I'll be successful, but I'll try.

I already use Wsplit/livesplit for splits, however if i try using my notes as splits it doesn't fit as it wants to be on one line,
If it is possible to make a split be multiple lines then that'd be awesome. Most the time my splits are usually set in key places (loading screens that are always consistent, the moment after killing a boss etc) The notes program im thinking of would be for pretty much as indepth notes as you need.

Dunnius what timer program did you make?

Good luck Sir VG, I commend you on your attempts at programming because that stuff is wizadry to me.

I made Time Split Tracker, which handles multiple lines for split names.  This is done by making the header column height bigger which automatically creates extra lines.  You can also adjust the header column width so that there are more words per line which may make it easier to read.

Awesome! Ill download it and give it a look tonight Dunnius, it may be exactly what im looking for. Is there anyway to disable the timer in it?

Being a timer program, no.  However, if you set the font colors of the timer, difference timer, and all split times and differences to the same color as the background, and set the split columns width to a small value, you can hide the timers and make it look like it doesn't track the times.

Edit: An alternative is to set the font sizes to a small value.  This would be more useful if you use a background image.

No worries, I did get a chance to play around with your timer last night, Ill have to figure out how to bring all my notes in and have them layed out nicely haha.
