This is kinda an odd for me as I don't really talk on the forums very much.  And this would also be my first speed run.  Period.

Anyway, it's a fun little game, but it seems more like an adventure than a game much like Metroid, however, I'm pretty sure it can be pulled off.  Does anyone know how to go about getting routes together, necessary or useful items, which ending to go for, or tricks to pull?

I've seen the Hell and Final Cave runs of this game, but there seems to be no full game speed runs.  And I find this disappointing.  With all the possible categories and its popularity, you'd think that a full game speed run would exist already.

Also, I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a decent game recorder if I'm going to attempt the run itself.  However, I'd be more than willing to let someone else run the game.  Mostly because it seems my left hand is rather stiff from a skating accident years ago and I don't think I would be able to fire fast enough.

Any thoughts or interests in seeing such a run?

You may want to look here:

Cave Story won't be accepted on SDA because it's a freeware game, of course you can still create a run of it and maybe also submit it to freewareruns.com if you want (That site needs to be ressurected ;)).

Excuse me for a sec.

*runs off to some mountain top to start cursing a blue streak*

I actually thought I would be able to submit something to SDA too.  Guess I should pay closer attention to those submission rules, huh?

P.S.: Mods, you can close this if you want.
