I want off the ride....
I watched Persona's run; and I agree with most of his path; but I dont for everything..

Also he doesn't get all relics thus I dont count his run as the 100% RC; (the map has proven that the %'s are all map coverage)

The Iron Shield/Shield Rod is absolutely amazing... and must be used;

More ideas come into mind; as I think about the path.... That combo is probably going to spammed for the entirety of the game;...

Yeah, I know.  It's just kinda sad.  There are some games where to do the fastest thing is also the most entertaining thing (look at some of the Super Mario World and Super Metroid speed runs), whereas the fastest thing in SotN tends to be the most boring to watch.  I mean, even though it would take a few extra seconds, going to get Alucard's shield would technically put me in the best position to finish the game faster than even the iron shield.  But that's even more boring.  The thing is, the fastest full-game (not 100%) run of SotN thus far uses no SR, no Criss, no glitches; it just uses good ol' fashioned skill.  I think it can be done, and I'm going to at least try it, but most likely, I'll run the game both ways (at first), and whichever ends up being faster, that's what I'll use in the end.

statistically speaking; the Shield rod/iron shield is the best option to the alucard shield/shield rod; or the duplicator (using the money trick) and power of sire;

either way; the name of the game is speed; pure as fast as you can run speed; Stopping for a few extra seconds to kill bosses; will slow your time; It wont be interesting; but the parts that matter the most are the careful route planning; the nailing of the jump tricks (aka extensive wolf jump and the fact) and a lot of other things.

I'm going to try to figure out the best route for use in the the Regular castle, which will allow for the maximum skipping of area; after I figure out how many rooms are actually skippable (due to the fact it appears the room count isn't all that is related to %)

few seconds? the Alucard Shield is on the very upper rightmost part of the Reverse Caverns. that is a large trek; it'll take at least a minute to get there from the waterfall. who knows if we even have to go to the waterfall area. just stick with Iron Shield combo

Lucid decided not to get the Shield Rod, although it probably is the better option. especially for a big run like this. no Crissaegrim because it was a single segment run. trying to get it in a reasonable amount of time after nearly an hour of gameplay is insane.
You know, realistically, I'm probably (subconsciously) purposefully putting all my bitchings and whinings up front right off the bat so you guys can logically counter them and then I'll no reason not to just do it the logical way.  Stupid psychology.  Anyhoo, my map is now including the SR, as well as getting those same gems that Persona got so that I can get an iron shield pretty early.
I've been doing a little studying of (and emulation of) Persona's run.  I like most of what he does, but obviously I wouldn't need to emulate the entire run for the regular castle, because it seems like he makes a circle or two that are un-needed for me.  He went back to the Chapel stairs just to hit those corners to complete the map, whereas we've decided I won't need to fill the entire map.  Those blocks are probably some that can be left out, but may need checking on, depending on which other blocks will be left out.

As far as I can tell and remember, there is absolutely nothing from the upper-right section of the Reverse Entrance that I will need.  Now, that potentially leaves that entire area out, but depending on other areas we should/need to leave out, I may need to do some exploration of that area.  Just for the sake of it, here's a map of the Inverted Castle without that Reverse Entrance.  I made sure to gray out exactly 62 squares, even though we're not yet sure if 62 is the proper number, and those squares are all completely useless squares.  That left the squares with the power-ups in it, but I think it's decided that the power-ups don't count, so I won't even be getting those.

Still practicing a couple different options, and perfecting the wolf bounce.
