Well I hate to bump this but maybe it's safe since Ashane is gone, heh.

What I wanted to say is: nobody mentioned this, but I think someone would be able to argue that being able to stomp coming out of alternate form, without double jump, would be a glitch. I'm not taking this stand though, just saying. Unlike the other things like Spike Breaker skip, that doesn't seem quite within the normal game rules.

I also wanted to say: Josh, where are you man? Please come online more. =(

I got the ring past the spikes a different way..since I couldn't read any Japanese at all, I did not know what Spike Breaker Armor was, so I happened to get into the door by having the Fairy and dying from spikes, which she then used that Peach item that revived me and gave me some invincibility time. Smiley

Great run, Lucid..I just watched the whole thing a couple days ago.
Yeah, I said it.

Oh, I looked back at earlier posts in the topic and noticed something..

EDIT: By the way, skipping the Leap Stone entirely is a no-go. Without it, "stacking" Gravity Boot jumps are not possible; the game will only allow one at a time. Also, it won't allow for the move to be performed in mid-air, making it nearly useless. Therefore, the Leap Stone and Gravity Boots should both be collected.

I don't know if it was changed from the PS version to the Saturn one, but in the Saturn one you can do the super jump, then turn into a different form, change back, then can do another super jump. It is kind of slow but it makes the super jump at least usable. You may want to try it in the PS version IF it would make skipping the double jump worth the time.

I'll get a video showing it done in the Saturn (and if possible) PS versions shortly.

Here you go:

http://redscarlet.paragonsigma.com/superjumpnodoublejumppsandsaturn.avi

You can super jump, then change forms to wolf, mist, or bat, then change back and do another super jump without the double jump (and repeat) in both the PS version (first in video) and Saturn one.

I dunno if that will help any for speed though, but it shows you don't NEED the double jump in either version of the game.
Scarlet, confirmed it works on US version and for an added bonus try chaining it after the first switch, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

For some reason I always thought you were Japanese. Can't pin down why though.

Dammit heh, I knew way back when there was something. Wink

Madrox, all you people who use the stock donkey avatar need to get together and duel each other for it, because I'm getting all you guys mixed up now. =( Same for the couple people who have the Homer one.

What happens?
Huh?
Ohhhh only have to morph and unmorph once, go Madrox! Well there ya go. But does the time taken to morph into something, the 'delay', make it worth skipping the double jump?

As someone said earlier, doing a back dash + bringing out a shield is pretty quick too.

If anything, it brings down the required "percent" of special items to go through...go low% game!

Nope.
Yeah, I said it.
Looks like I have some cool new tricks to try out next time I play. Smiley

Nice work.
maybe it was all those times she read japanese.

>_>

Yes, but you don't have to be Japanese to know the language of course.

BTW, I think it has to do with the fact that some of the games you like (Dragon Quest, Romancing SaGa, etc) are much more popular with Japanese than they are with say, even foreigners that like RPGs and anime.

I clicked that link to m2k2 and your avatar, is it supposed to be that girl that goes with you when you're a kid in DQ5? She's so awesome! And also your dad too. Smiley

I've never played a Romancing SaGa, just the 3 GB titles and SaGa Frontier for a little bit.

Yeah, this is the princess from DQ5 (not Bianca):

All my other ones are at the same place, http://redscarlet.paragonsigma.com/avatars/

Of course due to the size restrictions, I can't really use any of them (but I'd throw one in as a sig if I knew the restrictions for a signature picture, which I can't seem to find).

On topic, an earlier post brought up some interesting things in the Saturn one, like skipping Richter and stuff with Alucard.

If there are other Saturn version owners that know how to do these things or anything, it'd be fun to sit down and maybe figure out a Saturn version run with Alucard for someone to do over the summer (not me, I suck and take 5 hrs to go through the game for map completion and have no idea which bosses have Dracula's body parts).
Castlevania?
Dragon Quest and Romancing SaGa FTW! Cheesy

Sorry about the confusion between Japanese PlayStation and Saturn versions.

In the JP PS version, there is an additional physics glitch with which you can probably skip leapstone, gravboots, and soul of bat. All you do is quickly switch between wolf form and mist form. You can do this without losing any magic, and you EVER SO PAINFULY SLOWLY keep moving in the direction you were traveling. You cannot make the change fast enough on the non-JP version; dunno about the Saturn version.

Damn that's a lot of avatars.

The restrictions are some kind of unofficial combination of "not too big" handwaving and how much clout you have with the mods. I think you're quite safe on both counts.

(BTW, if anyone wants to disagree with what I said above, look at TSA's sig picture. :P)
"I like to watch"
Well, I'll wait until a mod actually says.

What all do you know about the Saturn/PS version, skippy?
Sleeping Terror
Enhasa is correct... there's no concrete rule about sigs, just *waves hand* not too big.

Oh and I went back and looked through most of those avatars. I don't recognize some of them of course, but of the ones I did I personally like the first BB Hood and Rydia ones the most. (Of course, I have an FF2/4 bias but that one is amazing anyway. ;)) Sexy Parodius could be good if there were more than just the fairies. Tongue

Whatever you pick though would be better than nothing!

In the JP PS version, you can switch forms quite quickly. The wolf<->Alucard slow move is one useful consequence (not wolf/mist as said above). A small variation is the WolfRise technique, which uses the Claymore's special attack along with wolf+Alucard, where you climb a whole lot faster. Also, if you hit your head when comming out of wolf form(?), you can get a single jump (requires leapstone).

Everything I "know" comes from watching videos. Two pages back I linked to one site with speedruns, no-hit boss kills, and some glitches. The other vids I have were all made by a guy named bug7139. They can be found at worldbeyondwalls.free.fr/movies/ . His are 3beat (where he only kills 3 enemies (4 out of 14 vids unfortunately)) and 265 (where he gets 26.5% as a map percent). Both end at the saveroom before Shaft/Drac and both use nasty glitches. If nothing else, take a look at 3beat--07. Check out WBW proper (and the forums especially) for out-of-bounds gaming in SotN.

Dunno if any of that stuff translates over to the Saturn version.
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
Wait, so which 3 bosses does he kill? And I imagine you'd have no chance in the final battle. I did some kind of minimal kills/exp, minimal rooms, no damaging magic, no eq or items, high luck guy (without skipping the room death takes your weapons), etc etc. I had no chance against Dracula, although I am not really a good player anyway so I didn't know if maybe someone could do it.
