Fucking Weeaboo
Yeah, I know...I'm running the wrong Castlevania.  I've been working on Henry's route and going well with it (I got my v1 done, haven't timed it yet but it ran fairly well).

One problem.  Henry is an unlockable character by completing Cornell's route.  And there's no way in hell I'm reading to run that long difficult route yet (if ever).  I'll keep busting a good Henry run but somebody do Cornell please!

Edit: Henry run v1 - 22:55

(Timer starts when the briefing is over, and ends when the last child is saved.)

Sleeping Terror
I'll do it! Except I don't have this game, just CV64. And I'm busy with another run. And, if it's anything like my other runs, it'd either take a long time to be completed or I'd find something annoying and give up. But aside from all that I'd be happy to oblige.

everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
I have a video from Persona (I should find out what happened to him, since his site has been down :() of Henry on normal, SS, in 17:54. If you don't mind sloppy seconds and want to just copy his route, I can upload it for you. Or um, you could watch it, be satisfied, and move on to another one of the 100 runs you want to do. Tongue

Also, what Strangeness said could apply to me, heh.

There you go again, walking into my thread and trying to show me up.  You suck. Tongue

v2 is done, got the run down to 20:41.

Enhasa and his friend still suck.  He must have found some uber shortcut to have cut off another 3 minutes worth from what I did.

Route:
Stage 1 - Get through the first skeleton boss, flip the switch to the left, head through the gate straight ahead, drop down by the far switch, through the breakable wall, rescue the child at the other end, jump over to the switch, flip it, head up the other side of the cliff, fight skeleton boss again, finish level.

Stage 2 - Up the left tower, find the child, head back down and out towards the villa.

Stage 3 - Fight the Cerebuses, grab the sun and moon cards from the fountain, use the sun card immediately, head to the end of the maze, go in to the child, head to the basement coffin, jump in

Underground waterway - Use the moon card immediately, head in to the child, back out the way I came in.

Outer Wall - Head up to the child, back out the way I came in.

(In v2, I had to stall a touch because I got through the Outer Wall before 12:00AM)

Tunnel - Past the crushers, down the elevator, around to the next section, stay tight to the left, up the elevator, stay tight to the right, head over the narrow pathway, hang tight to the left, past the crushers, straight ahead to the red lift, follow it to the midpoint, wait for the blue lift, jump off at the destination point, up the elevator, across the watery path, tight right, across the double water holes, head right, then left to the sun door, open it, get the moon card, use the moon card immediately, head to the moon door, save child.

I know you're just kidding, but Persona far from sucks.  I'd say he is the best speedrunner of new-school Castlevania games (sorry Dragondarch, but watch his runs and you'll see).  Unfortunately, his site is down, I can't show you any of his runs Sad

Enhasa:  Last time I talked to Persona he told me his site maxed out its bandwidth.  He said it should be up in a few days.

Castlevania?
I checked on the route differences by watching my vid and the only difference I seem to have noticed is the moon and sun card. I get the moon card in the twin towers (going up to top then falling down) and the sun card in the outer wall. If you're quick enough you don't have to use any card before jumping into the coffin to reach the underwaterway.

As for my site, what Mike said. Smiley Webhost booted me for eating too much bandwidth (which I find odd) and killing their servers twice. They wouldn't even release my domain name, so I had to get a new one with .net at the end. Site should be working properly in a few days like what Mike said, just change the domain name to .net.

I see your philosophy.  In v2, if I did your strategy, I would have been ~15 minutes too late to get the waterway.  But if I can make my skeleton fights a bit faster, I can make it there before 4PM.  Then I get through that and back out the entrance, and since it's after 4, go straight to the outer wall.  Then at some point use a sun card to make the time 6AM, allowing entrance to the tunnel.  Which doing so leaves me a moon card so no matter what time it is, I can get to the child w/o visiting the one sun door.

I'm not sure where the moon card in the outer wall you're referring to is, but the fountain is right square in my way, so getting both there is fairly quick.  But I'll think about your method, though I wonder if going up and falling down is really faster.  It IS a recipe for death though. ^^;;

"Game Times" in v2

Arrival at Castle Wall - 9AM
Child at the wall saved - 10AM
Arrival at the Annex level - 11AM
Get both cards at the fountain - 12:50PM
Save the child in the maze - 8AM (Day 2)
At the waterway - 9:25AM
Child in waterway saved - 7:30PM
Back to the villa - 7:55PM
Outer Wall child saved - 10:45PM
Back to the villa - 11:20PM
Red "I" Lift - 3:10AM (Day 3)
Child Saved - 6:30PM (Game over)

So possible improvements - little better skeleton fights, better fights against the Cerebuses.  Will try out the new philosophy though.
Castlevania?
The moon card is on your way down the tower, it's in a torch on one of the ledges before reaching the bottom gate. I also didn't really think about U turning back down after getting the kid. Could be faster.

Also after getting the kid in the outer wall, you can jump off the ledge and land to the bottom while losing some HP, but it's a whole lot faster than finding another way down. Just don't fall off too far or you'll die. Tongue
Fucking Weeaboo
Yeah, I don't slide across that narrow bar on the way back.  The hardest part of Outer Wall is actually landing on that pea sized ledge with the crappy falling physics.

And I have successfully managed to get to the Villa coffin before 4PM, so I can do the run using 1 card of each (Sun in the Outer Wall to setup for the Tunnel, and Moon to get the kid in the Tunnel).

Now if only I can stop screwing up in other sections. ^^;;

Heh...I was randomly mentioned.

And I still need to get around to the Julius AoS improvements...just don't have a lot of time at the moment (plus still playing around with the new DVD recorder, and practicing M&L).

And Sir_VG: Just keep going. It'll get better with time.

Look out Persona.  HERE I COME.

v3 - 19:03

The biggest improvement has to have been my boss fight with the Skeleton (2nd time around).  By the end of Stage 1, I'm a whopping 35 seconds ahead of v2.  Part of the improvement came for an extra powerup drop during the 1st fight that I don't always get.  Time was also saved by the change in card plans.  I hit the waterway at 3:10PM, well in time for getting there.

In "Game Time", Henry saved everybody in about 42 hrs and 20 minutes (1 day, 18 hrs, and 20 minutes), about a whole day faster than v1 and v2. ^^;;

Spots I could improve?  Being more bravado on rescuing the child at the Outer Wall and crossing all the waterways in the tunnel.  I gotta work on being more gung-ho.  Hey, it's not like I'm putting MY life on the line...

Hmm, so any update on your record? Tongue

If not, I could send mine in, but then again someone has to do Cornell *rolls eyes to you*.  8)

I'll probably send it along with my LOI bossrush vids (Leon 11:21:25 and Joachim 13:19:90). If no one does Cornell then I'll just send in my bossrush vids. Tongue

P.S. I blame Mike for getting me into the LOI mood. Sad
Fucking Weeaboo
Haven't had any time...been back to working screwy hours.  But now that I'm back on a pattern for a couple days followed by 2 days off, I'll work on running it again shortly.

Give me time...I'll crack this run wide open.  Grin

Bleh...you're going to get ME into the LoI mood at this rate! (but I do admit my LoI work is improvable...speaking of which I'll be looking for feedback on the CoD run when it goes up)
Fucking Weeaboo
I gave it another go this morning.

I'm jumping up and down.  I totally ROCKED.

Henry v4 - 18:13

Yes, I'm within 19 seconds of Persona's time!
