InspidMuckyWater, would you be willing to offer $50 for each Heavy Metal game? Or just keep it the way it is?

Haha.  I just noticed you typed Heavy Metal.  Cute lil typos like that make my day.

Anyway, I'm just posting to say I changed my mind on this.  I am willing to pay $50 per first-run of each game.... that is, $50 for the first Twisted Metal, $50 for the second, and $50 for Black.

If I didn't mention one before, the deadline for these will be June 1st, 2009.  At the moment, I'm only aware of one run (TM2) which is currently in progress.

Complete. Global. Saturation.
I'm glad to see you've come around, comrade.

I'm offering another bounty: $20-$30 for a Single Segment Mega Man 7 speedrun, depending on results. The better you do, the greener your reward. It's due sooner rather than later.
Fucking Weeaboo

You do realize there's already one up there, right?
I don't even know what the fuck this is

Yes I do. I'll fix that up.
Hi! I'm andrewg!
I feel like the bounty amount should have a minimum of like 25-30 dollars or something. I mean, I don't think anyone is going to complete a speedrun for 5 dollars, and I feel it's pointless to have something like that on the list.

Thoughts?
putting a minimum on bounties is a terrible idea.  there is a deeper meaning to the thread besides the money offered, or other items like angerfist's human life ;).  sorta like a 'for-fun, added-incentive' request thread.

I think you're right.  The only exception to this would be if it was a game that someone really liked and wanted to do a run on ANYWAY.  Otherwise, the five bucks doesn't even cover discs.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I think bounties should have a maximum of 25$ instead, if you are going to complete a speed run for the money then get a real job ;o

I don't think there is enough available cash to justify someone speedrunning as a sole source of income...
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I'm sorry, how does that help ur point?
_____

I'll offer 5$ for runs that match all of these requirements:
* Game was released for the SNES (Run may be on another console as long as there's a SNES port)
* First run for the game on SDA
* Run must not be in easy difficulty (normal+)
* Accepted by SDA and accepted by all verifiers as per the verifier topic
* These SNES games get 10$ extra: Tiny Toons Buster Busts Loose, Marvel War of the Gems, Congo's Caper, Bubsy, Cool Spot, Goof Troop, unlisted Mickey games for SNES.
* Deadline July 1st 2009
Back in the game!
Because you implied that someone would actually do this.  If you calculate the totals of all the bounties available, factor in the amount of time you'd spend pulling off the runs and collecting the bounties, it is simply not cost efficient on an hourly basis or whatever to do it.  It's just an extra motivation to run games, nothing more.  And I took offense because it seemed like you implied that running for cash is the only thing I do, and I don't have a job.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
If you say so, burn. Reminds me of yesterday that I was buying a controller from some guy and his six year old kids came out of nowhere and yelled DAD BUT THAT CONTROLLER IS BROKEN. Anyway, that sounds more pro-no minimum than pro-minimum on bounties, I'll take it I just misunderstood your first post.

Yeah, my real point was that it isn't really an incentive.

It just seemed strange to me was all. I guess there's no real harm.

Sorry to cause any arguments! I wasn't trying to target anyone.

Get to the speedrunning!  Cheesy

Angered Me, You have!
I am going to polish my bounty for Metroid Prime. The bounty is now 400 U.S. dollars and thats final. You have until 2010 to finish the run (sub 1 hour run, no out of boundary allowed). Could The Quiet Man perhaps edit his first post please.

Edit: If someone claims my bounty, it would be nice if you had a DVD recorder so we can fully enjoy the run.

Updated. I also removed the Secret of Mana bounty after talking with Sir_VG about it. Rask, if you'd like to me put it back up, I will. I just need a new due date.
Yeah, go ahead and repost it with a couple of edits I though of at the last second.

SoM Sub 5 hour run ENGLISH.

Must replace the current run listed. ( accepted verified etc.)

50 USD.

May 2009.

Cheers!
I want off the ride....
rask if your posting that bounty I guess its pal only since a ntsc time won't remove that record... so do you want a comperable pal under 5 hr run? so ntsc * 6/5 < 5hrs to beat the time? I am just asking cause I might take that up after sd3 if only cause I love secret of mana.
Well, my bounties all expire in about 10 days.  I know about Ultimate Darius; is anybody else still working on any of mine?  I need to hear from you quickly.

Enhasa would probably know this ... Is Tri-Ace Fanboy still working on or thinking about the 100% Radiata Stories run?  I'd hate to pull the plug on something that awesome if it is still in the works.

For what it's worth, I would complete a speedrun for five dollars.

I guess it's worth 5 dollars Wink

The real question is: would you receive the 5 dollars?

Yes, but then I would repeatedly claim it got lost in the mail and make them send another five, and hopefully I'll get away with it a few times before they realize what's happening. Wink

Unless they didn't take me seriously when I said I would claim the five dollars and never send it. Sad

*edit* - i understand you list a bunch of bounties paid on the first page, this is just more of a bounty-offerer thing that i'm suggesting, before everyone thinks i can't read =/

actually andrew you bring an interesting point.  this is just a suggestion, and i understand no one would particularly wanna do this since it's pretty much unnecessary...but it maybe could give the thread more value.  i was wondering, would it be possible for someone to make some kind of "reputation" database...whether in a seperate thread or a kb page?  then edit the first post with clickable bounty-offerer names?

to cut down on work / unnecessary constant adding to some kind of database...you could just do this for people that HAVE successfully had a bounty completed, and have either payed or not payed.  since bounties aren't completed that often, it doesn't seem like it would be constant work...though i completely understand it is a pain to do and is unnecessary.

but...if anyone was considering it, maybe it could look like something simple like this?

Bounties offered that have been successfully completed: [games, or number of games]

                          Track record:

Paid [$ ammount] for [game] (list these)
Has not paid [$ ammount] for [game] as of [date]  (list these)

i'm aware it's a pain in the ass and should not ask for someone else to do the work, and that many of the bounty-offerers have not had a chance to gain any sort of rep since they probably have not seen their bounty completed.  but i do think that in time if this thread grows some kind of "rep" db could be very useful.  of course there is no guarantee, like anything in life, and someone with +5000 bounties paid could go a-wall and just not pay a run.  however i do believe it is useful despite that, i guess just in the sense that it could add more of an easy-to-view reliability of bounties offered.

just my 2 cents Smiley

Darius, why did you quote that whole thing?

Anyway, I did leave the second post reserved for something, but I'm not too big on this idea. It's not because of the work involved, as I did track down every single original bounty offer and provide a link to them. It's mostly that it's easier for people to determine a rep on their own by simply clicking the offerer's name and checking out their profile. They can see if a person has been here for a while and/or posts a lot and/or has speedruns up on SDA.
In the case of the Secret of Mana bounty, the person isn't even registered on SDA, but he did leave his e-mail address and respond each time the bounty was brought into question.

I also encourage anyone going after a bounty to get in contact with the person offering it and ask them any additional questions before starting.

Should I add a "paid by" part to the paid bounties? For example: "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 (Deathless run) - $75 paid to rdrunner"...
...would become: "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 (Deathless run) - $75 paid to rdrunner by stanksi"
