Woah, this topic lies dormant for so long and then it snaps awake and runs off before I can leash it.
Updated by the way.

InspidMuckyWater, would you be willing to offer $50 for each Heavy Metal game? Or just keep it the way it is?

I think I'll leave it the way it is, but thanks for the suggestion.  I figure if one of those games is run, then the others won't be toooo long behind it.  We only need a runner or two at the outset in order to create a community for vehicular combat games, I imagine.

Tangent: It'd be interesting to see which cars would be best.  I know I've always thought Twister for TM2, but I'm not sure about TM1 and Black.  Sweet Tooth in Black would probably be doable, or maybe Roadkill.  TM1 seems more balanced than the latter titles, but I guess I'd go with Mr. Grimm.
My best time in Twisted Metal 2 is 34'58" with Thumper (including loading). I have it on VHS somewhere.
Hello folks,

If angerfist is still around could he clarify his $300-$500 bounty for a sub hour Metroid Prime (I'm thinking of adding to it).  I can't even find the post (both of his bounty links in the OP go to the same post....)

Also, I see people say that a sub 5 min Super Mario Bros. is impossible, and that's probably why there isn't a bounty on it..... I'm not exactly understanding that if the current run is 5:00.

....also as a real shot in the dark, is anyone familiar with Wizards & Warriors X (gameboy)?  I'm thinking of putting a bounty on it, but I don't know a good time.  (Also part 1 and 3 on NES info would be nice, I saw that part 2 Iron Sword already has a run).
UPDATE FOR SNES SECRET OF MANA BOUNTY

Bounty still holds, The December 15th deadline was posted merely because the SDA guidelines suggested I give one. I know it was a ludicrous one.  Just popping in to say Dec. 15th doesnt have a rock solid bearing on whether or not I'm good for the cash, I'd still love to see a run based on the guidelines I posted.
Fucking Weeaboo
Good, because Secret is driving me bat crazy insane.

I'm sure I won't be done by Dec 15th.  Work and running that game are driving me insane.  Really. ^^;;

Oh, so you're attempting it? Good, we've got a bounty in progress. Smiley
Rask, now that we know someone is working hard on it, will you set a new due date? Maybe discuss it with Sir_VG and decide on a good deadline.

I also updated the Mechwarrior 4 link.

Yeah, but I'm not that far in.  I keep getting waxed by the werewolves while saving the girl in the forest going for Eilenee's castle.

Honestly, I find Secret's battle system so damn frustrating now.  It probably comes from having played Legend and Dawn so much which makes Secret's system seem so...bogged down and slow.

I don't know if I will finish it, to be honest.  It's just been too damn frustrating.

Werewolves shouldn't be a problem. You can do that part quickly at any level without taking a hit. OTOH Spiky Tiger is the hardest part of the game by a lot though.

If you're running this game, discussing it with Zhegan is a must. He was working on it but I think ran into real life or something. Anyway good luck, you should be able to absolutely nuke the previous time like no other run on SDA.

Oh really?  Your time definitely sounds pretty decent to me, although I haven't played the game too recently.

How well do you think you did?  Did you make any time consuming mistakes?  If you're proud of the run and think it is worthy enough for submission, please go ahead.  Btw, let me know your IL times if you get a second sometime.

While I had been suggesting Twister, Thumper would have made a pretty good choice, as well.  Of course, Twisted Metal may be one of those series where the differing strengths and abilities of the characters might justify having speedruns for each.  I guess we'll have to see.

I'll revive the TM2 thread and post them there:

Alright, glad to see that there IS an interest. Sir_VG feel free to contact me on my hotmail account  regarding any details on the SoM run. Like my previous post stated there was only a deadline due to the forum guidelines stating I needed one. I could personally care less if it took a month or two more, I just want to see a sub 5 run destroy the old one ^^.

Eagerly awaiting a response, and a new link to click on SDA.

Jackpot Cheesy  I finally got to pay three people tonight; for the old Pokemon Red run, for the Zelda dungeon video that got rejected, and for the marathon FR/LG video(s) that we can look forward to.  I better not go into detail about that last one, but the effort is worth way more than I paid ... which can really be said I guess about all the Pokemon SSs but especially about this one.

I am guessing this concludes the payments I will be making except quite possibly for a Pokemon Yellow run, but my bounties don't expire for another month, so prove me wrong Cheesy  This bounty stuff has been fun and well worth the cash.
I got my bounty! (and blew it on cool stuff!)

Slowbro is a legit guy, I'm thinking of doing a Crystal version SS if that's accepted for the bounty terms, but red would give me an anxiety attack..

edit: Oh, I did offer a Gold/Silver/Crystal bounty; I had forgotten.  It's a jip at fifty bucks.  Good luck if you go for it, but it expires at the end of the year, so you'll have to be hard at work at it within a month.

edit: Ouch, I was over half a year delinquent paying you ... you should have been paid interest Roll Eyes

Define the bolded text.  To me, it says that if I tell you that I have a work in progress by the end of the year, you'll still pay when I finish the run.  Is this what you intended it to mean?  I'm going to look into seeing whether or not I can pull off a yellow run this week, and I'll know by friday or saturday what my intentions are.

I updated the first post to include your paid bounties. What is this FireRed/LeafGreen marathon you speak of?

A sub-2 hour run may not be feasable for a first time play through. I still want someone to try however.

I don't know why I just saw this now or if anyone's already said, but there's a NG time on Ultima Garden of 1:43.

It would be my Fire Red "Elite 4 Round 2" SS run, clocking in at 5:16...which is I believe 6 minutes longer than the current "longest SS run" (Super Mario Sunshine 100%) on the site.

Carcinogen did paste a link, but he didn't mention the time (I don't know why). But anyways Zugzwang, if the Ultima Garden time is 1:43, then I'm sure a decent run would get at least 1:50, so you should just pay for sub-2 hour.
If you can tell me you are doing serious planning, or of course recorded attempts, by the end of the month, then you're in.  As for what planning is 'serious', well, I don't know what I mean myself so I guess that's up to your judgment.  BTW someone else may be working on a Yellow run too.

Heh, sorry about being so vague about the 'marathon' run ...

I'm just gonna go ahead and post this because I'm not going to have anything done any time soon. I intended to just post a bounty for the person that obsoletes my run if I ever got one up, but circumstances continued to arise. :^\

I just copy/pasta'd the table entry format so it's easier to add in, but there isn't actually a table in this post. >_> Oops. If anyone attempts this, I should be in IRC. Also, apparently, I'm supposed to give a deadline, so I'm gonna say July 1st 2009.

EDIT: It's ten minutes from the deadline already apparently. I'm extending it to January 1st 2010.
EDIT2: Uhh...Deadline pushed back to January 1st, 2011. I can do that, right?
EDIT3: bounty doubled, deadline pushed back to 1-1-2012.

Dude, if you're going to put up a challenge like that you should at least make the reward cover the blank DVDs they're going to have to buy. That's just me though, I still updated it.

Dude, if I could buy materials to record speedruns I could just do the run myself. Since I don't, yet I still hope that early demo gets updated, I'm putting up just something.
