Can't view BanjoTooie_SS_Cheato_5625_HQ_h264.avi

Had the same problem with the new halflife 2 done quick. I checked here and read that I should get the CoreAVC H264 codec.. So I have that installed and it worka for the hl2dq... Mostly.

It shows this strange orange/yellow hue, kinda like a shadow for whatever very bright things are on the screen, like ammo popups. Somewhat distracting..

The banjotooie one won't work at all? Well audio plays fine but no video.

I tried all sorts of different players, can't get it to display.

So much trouble with H264 and it doesn't seem a ton better then xvid =/
Thread title:
tried vlc?
yea works but would rather use Bsplayer..

Just prefer using it and regular codecs over vlc and its builtin experimental support.

King of hearts
Don't use BSplayer, it's total BS.  Use either Media Player Classic or Zoomplayer if you're not going to use VLC, along with FFDShow or CCCP for the codecs.  I highly recommend CCCP since it makes the default settings copatible with many systems and comes with those two players.

The only reason I've tried BSplayer was for it's desktop mode, but it was interesting only for a minute...

hahaha, oh man. that was great.
sorry i use bsplayer.. Just like its interface (skinnable) and know its controls good where i can't really figure out how to get mplayer classic to resize with the mouse wheel, fast forward, 1,5 or 10 seconds at any keypress,, etc.

But i sorted out the problem anyways.. Basicly CoreAVC  doesn't work with allot of the videos on this site.

Had to use ffdshow. Still somewhat buggy with lots of weird upsidedown video and some crashing, but it works after some tweaks.

Just seems with x264, coveavc and ffdshow all using different codecs that call themselves the same media type yet aren't 100% compatible yet causes some issues.
CoreAVC doesn't work with the H264 avi files that Nate has made in the past month. This is because of the statid he adds to the beginning of each video. It will work when we switch over to mp4.
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
You probably have some kind of old ffdshow version. Go here.

Actually, ffdshow, CCCP, VLC, MPlayer ought to work the same in theory because they all use the free (as both in beer and rights) libavcodec. CoreAVC is the only wild card since it is proprietary. I'm not comfortable recommending it since the latest version that doesn't cost money is 0.4. Since the actual latest version is like 1.0 or so, your choice is between vaporware and payware. So CoreAVC might be the fastest for now if you need it, but know that you'll have to change eventually.
