Routing
Routing is basically as seen in either video above although the IL level strats take more risks. Also the IL version of "Dances with Renegades" does not use a newly found slow-motion skip that the SS run does use.
Thread title:
Stalker!
sure. i would like to see it.

Are you going to use the arcade mode for the ILs?

No not the "arcade" mode, It is being done using a "Newgame+" set of levels in either the story mode itself or the "recollection" level selection (which allows you to play through the mission with the same unlocks from that playthrough)
This allows me to have the full set of perks. (except one which I don't like to use)

I may at some point do a Segmented / IL's playthrough of "new game" also, but that would require me organizing which perks to get and whether or not to farm exp etc etc which i can't be bothered to do If I'm honest ... at least not at the moment.
Wake up and be awesome

had not seen that before actually thanks (^_^)

edit: guy seems to spend a lot of time killing unnecessary stuff :$

1:27:39 loading screen I'm pretty sure there is either a loading cut (to reduce time) or a segment was inserted lol

Also he clearly couldn't be bothered to make the choice on the last mission (Finale) because he doesn't even play it out.

Other that that he has some notable things such as a drop by the ladder on "1:30 to Hell" which can have maybe 1/4 of a second if done right... , he fails to do EVERY dialogue skip (reloading checkpoints to jump dialogues along) This saves around 30-40 seconds on the first mission alone.

IL's should be done soon, however, I want to redo a few because of tiny mistakes which ...to me... shouldn't be there, but could maybe drop 1 second off the times of those levels.

as there is finally some competition for this now (Blood_Thunder) I should probably post an update.

Current Best known time for this is 1:26:33 by Me
with Bl00d_Thunder trailing behind Tongue @ 1:41:47 (only his first full run, expect improvement!!!)
The guy in Hobos linked video is disqualified because he didn't even finish the game but if he did his time would have been around 1:38:30

Hopefully if more interest pops up for this game we can get some races going because this game is very fun and really under-known Sad

yay! more people! (^_^) it's very fun running it in NG+ not so much in NG but we would do races in NG+, unless someone decides they want to route EXP farming + Skill point spending (I don't)
Pew pew pew.
Alright, thought to post here since there's a good bit of new stuff, some small but a few large ones that are noticeably new with the route or general strats, as well as things I've been unable to find ways around or to replicate:

(Layout is eh but anyways...)

This is the current best time I've been able to get. Now, this is not a perfect run, and I've discovered some new routing changes to save some time/increase consistency but this was really good about getting the majority of it. A few things to note that are new:

"Bunnyhopping" - Bounty Hunter is Still My Name

Binding mousewheel to jump allows for you to maintain speed better throughout the swamp-terrain. This does make the skip at the beginning tougher (getting over the fallen tree before the camera makes you look back and kills your momentum) because of going so fast that a dialogue line doesn't play and gives you less time, but in general throughout the level it saves 15-20 seconds of time.

Shield Boost/Ladders - Once Upon A Time in Stinking Springs/All

Using mouse wheel again, on the ladder in the first mission, you can jump towards the shield, who will look up and allow you to boost off of him and grab the top rung of the ladder. Because of how long the climb animation is, it's the best way to do it. Likewise, jumping towards any ladder puts you up a few rungs higher and saves time, so this is normally the best strat if it isn't dangerous to.

Fast Duel - All

By intentionally getting a Focus below 80% (this gets higher as the fights go on so you have more room for error) you get a faster draw animation, which saves a second or two if you hit the first couple shots. It's a bit riskier because it increases the size of your cursor and makes you more likely to miss, but if you get close enough to 80 there's usually no problem. A few mission are not worth doing it on, which are:
- Be Quick or Be Dead
- Bounty Hunter is Still My Name (very risky but can be done)
- Death Rides a Steel Stallion (Jesse James is much too far away to hit)
- The Good, the Bad and the Dead (two person duel and it takes more time if you have to dodge the second one even with fast draw)

QTE Skip/Cancel - All

Most QTEs can be skipped by intentionally failing them and killing the person you failed it to before they trigger the Sense of Death cutscene. This can be made easier by going into Concentration and lengthening the time/accuracy for doing so. Some don't help or are impossible to cancel, like the one for 1:30 to Hell.

Boss Fight Strats

Most non-duel fights (besides Magnificent One), you can use Ornate Sawed Offs and Concentration to kill them quickly. On earlier bosses, just locking onto them and spamming shots is enough to kill. But for later bosses, spamming in and out of concentration to preserve it for as long as possible is the better strategy. Because the major disadvantage of the gun is supposed to be that it has a low range and low ammo/high reload time, by using concentration to reload and aim more accurately, it takes them all away and makes it very very strong, as well as good for clearing enemies out from melee range as you run by.

Gatling Glitch - Death Rides a Steel Stallion

The Gatling fight now has a new strat where you jump to the side of the carriage before you run into it (after shooting the logs and making them fall off) and grab the ladder. From here, you can take the closer of the two covers and pop in and out of it in concentration to shoot the gatling gunner. The hitbox is very weird though and not what is visibly shown. But after killing him, loading checkpoint lets you warp right up to where he is and is much quicker than dynamiting him though not nearly as safe.

=============

There is one glitch I haven't been able to replicate though:

On "1:30 to Hell" at the end there was a weird glitch. After the QTE, I took the right path upwards and just shot enough people to clear out the way to get to the boss, dropped down and got about to the caraven before the cutscene started. Afterwards I ran to the right of the tunnel (gatling gun wasn't firing yet) and touched the wall only to instantly die. But when I respawned the boss had zero health and instantly died a moment later.

Sadly I have no video of this but it'd be a good time save if it was consistent, though the next strat after it is only 10 seconds slower at most.

===

Those are only the major changes that may need explaining from watching the WR video compared to the old one, and not every single added Load Checkpoint or smaller routing change. Gonna start trying to use this to post any things I find and maybe help anyone new that pops in.

Thanks for the updated information, dunno when I'll get back to this game (or if I ever will) but its good to have someone still looking into things Cheesy
Pew pew pew.
Thanks Judgy Smiley Gonna try to just keep everything here and on the Discord so there's no confusion about anything I find.

Also, found a new 20 second time save at the very end of the game by accident, while getting a new PB/WR. The PB doesn't do it completely, but it made me realize I needed to check there for a time save.

The video, for anyone that cares to watch. But basically, what happens is that any time you go into concentration during a section where you have to wait a certain amount of time for dialogue to play (even if you also have to get a certain amount of kills as well), it increases the time dependent on how much you're in concentration during it. So for the section in Mission 14 before the ghosts begin to appear, if you just hide upstairs and never go into concentration at all, and only shoot the dynamite to keep yourself safe, as long as you get back downstairs right before the final line of dialogue, it will trigger almost 20 seconds faster. I'll try to get a video comparison of it today or tomorrow but the difference is really really obvious.

good to know if I try and improve some of the IL's I'll remember that one,

oh and if it wasn't known to you before;
T
here is a time saver on the first mission after the defending of the house when you are leaving the house (you kick the door and slow motion happens) if you are reloading your right hand gun when you kick the door you skip going into slow motion which saves maybe 3-4 seconds.

I normally just fire about 8 shots after the Quicktime kill happens, once you know how long reloading the first pistol takes you can get it every time.
(YOU MUST BE RELOADING YOUR RIGHT-HAND PISTOL!!!!)
Pew pew pew.
That seems to work for Mission 12 as well (right before the super long slow-down section) but it doesn't skip it from eventually slowing down, just the initial part. Though for that, you have to be reloading your left hand sawed-off. Only problem I see with doing it for the first mission is that the time it takes to drain the bullets from the gun (and since you can't sprint and shoot) cuts into the time save and if you then miss it you're now behind 6 seconds or so.

Also, there's a way to clip into the hull of the boat on "Bounty Hunter is Still My Name". After kicking down the door, and getting knocked out, if you hug the right wall and run in front of where the door hits you and crouch, it pushes you through the wall and drops you to the bottom of the boat. Haven't seen a use for it yet and it probably won't work because of how the game functions, but it's something to note while looking for more timesavers with it.
