Game: Sonic Colours
Category: Egg Shuttle
Estimate: 55:00
Video Link: https://www.twitch.tv/criticalcyd/v/75875940
Incentives: Game Land showcase (10 minute estimate)
Description: One of the boost-era Sonic games featuring both 3d and 2d gameplay. The Egg Shuttle challenge mode goes through all of the stages while cutting out any cutscenes, score screens and stage-select maps making for non-stop action while also giving access to all powerups from the start and more boost to make Sonic go as fast as he possibly can. The extra incentive of Game Land features a set of arcade stages featuring a 2nd Sonic you can switch to as well as stages modelled after the classics, about a third will be showcased.

Game: Sonic Heroes
Category: Team Sonic
Estimate: 1:05:00
Video Link: https://www.twitch.tv/criticalcyd/v/81570966
Incentives: Glitch Showcase (10 minute estimate)
Description: Sonic Heroes offers the ability to switch between 3 characters on the fly and nearly all of their moves interact with the rest of the team in some way. This dynamic allows for a lot of AI manipulation and game breaking glitches while also adding a lot of reactionary play while trying to use each character to their fullest potential. The game that never stops giving.

Game: Portal
Category: Inbounds
Estimate: 16:00
Video Link:
Incentives: Only real thing could be an incentive for a different run entirely, OoB (would have to learn and do runs of the category, est 12 mins) or inbounds 0 gravity (would have to learn and do runs, est 18 mins)
Description: Very movement intensive and flashy speedrun, with a lot of glitches and skips in almost every single map. High skill cap and very awe dropping to see runs of with how broken it is. Fairly Optimal run overall, with very little room for improvement left in the category.
Game: Kirby Planet Robobot
Category: Meta Knightmare Returns
Estimate: 1:10:00
Video Link:

Incentives: N/A
Description: Meta Knightmare Returns is a mode in Kirby Planet Robobot that sends you through a streamlined version of the story mode and gives you control of the titular character Meta Knight.  Meta Knight is different from Kirby in that he has a permanent sword ability with a dozen more unique moves. The game uses an ingame timer that pauses at various points such as boss cutscenes, special attacks and opening doors.  Ingame time is preferred by the community over real time for those reasons.  Like in Meta Knightmare Ultra you'll be earning points from defeated enemies and on the field to unleash abilities and attacks to speed through levels.  This game is the longest of the series making it a test of endurance for the runner.

Game: Strider (2014)
Category: any%
Estimate: 35:00
Video Link:

Incentives: Yellow alternate costume
Description: This game is the 1st strider game released in the last decade, 2014 for current Sony and Microsoft consoles as well as PC.  It a metroidvania game has a lot of qualities that make it a good speedrun. Powerups like a teleport allow for faster ground and air movement, while tricks like charge boosting which are unintended programming quirks allow for faster ground movement. We utilize glitches to go out of bounds and sequence break ALA Symphony of the Night or Darksiders speedruns.  This game is played on keyboard and a controller at the same time for a lot of these tricks.  Any% aims to get to the credits as fast as possible.

Game: Super Mario Land
Category: any%
Estimate: 15:00
Video Link:

Incentives: N/A
Description:  This game is one of the first Gameboy games released alongside Tetris.  It's a mario game with 12 levels, 2 of which are autoscrolling machine flying stages. It doesn't control too well due to early gameboy programming, but it's a game that has been well optimized for marathon runs.  A few tricks are used to speed up some sections like jumping off a rock to a bullet bill to skip a part of 3-1, while others are not opted for due to marathon safety like skipping platform cycles in 3-3.  Open to racing against active community members.

Game: Megaman 10
Category: Bass - Easy mode - any%
Estimate: 40:00
Video Link:

Incentives: N/A
Description: Megaman 10 was the last new classic series megaman game released in 2010.  Bass has a dash jump and 6 way buster shot ability as well as a jetpack.  There are 14 stages, 8 robot masters, wily levels and refights at the end in typical megaman fashion.  Easy mode is very lenient to the runner: There are less enemies, you take half damage, more etanks and weapon tanks, there's a special easy mode item that acts as a M tank, etc.  Compared to top runners like slurpeeninja my game proficiency isn't the best, but the run should be marathon safe.
Game: Final Fantasy IV
Category: any% no64
Estimate: 3:30
Video Link: https://www.twitch.tv/riversmccown/v/83093365
Incentives: Names for Cecil, Kain, Rosa, Rydia, Edge, FuSoYa, Tellah, Palom, Porom, Yang, Edward (+5 min or so), Fight Asura, Leviatan, Bahamut (+10 min), Choice of character to level up to finish game with (Rosa no gain, Edge +1 min, Rydia +5 min)
Description: I've been breaking this run slowly but surely into something really malleable for marathons. 25th anniversary in November, classic console RPG. This is the category that plays the full game rather than breaking it completely after reaching the Dwarf Castle.
Game: Mighty Number 9
Category: any% (Beck, Normal)
Estimate: 50:00 (Real Time.  IGT 38:00)
Video Link: https://www.twitch.tv/mrcab55/v/84978773
Incentives: Voice Acting Language (to include straight up muting it) (basically all incentives would be around language and cut scenes)
Description: Mighty Number 9, the kickstarted Mega Man clone, is a surprisingly good speed game.  It was kickstarted by long time Mega Man directory Keiji Inafune, and released to much internet hate.  Without going too deep into that, the dash makes this game fast, the weapons are just a little OP, and yes we found an invincibility glitch.  This makes for a fast paced run.  Cut scenes are skippable, voice acting is mutable, though maybe some people would want to see them... (Open to a race)

------------------------------------

Game: Mega Man 2
Category: any% normal (with zips)
Estimate: 35:00
Video Link: https://www.twitch.tv/mrcab55/v/44554557
Incentives: Could always play on difficult, though that adds 2-3 minutes to the safety estimate
Description: The Mega Man game most people remember growing up with, broken by many zips and some death defying Air Man jumps. Oh, and purple hell (the Wily 4 boss that is always a potential run killer).  "Normal" difficulty makes Mega Man effectively deal twice as much damage, so the run is a bit safer (if with slower cutscenes) than any% difficult.

------------------------------------

Game: Super Mario Land
Category: any%
Estimate: 16:00
Video Link: https://www.twitch.tv/mrcab55/v/62273540
Incentives: Nah
Description: One of the original Game Boy games, Super Mario Land plays much like SMB1 on the NES - hold B, hold right, and hope for the best.  It's a fast 12 stages, just don't mind the two auto scrollers (2-3 and 4-3).  I'm here to race TheGuesst.

Video Link: https://www.twitch.tv/nachoyacopu/v/86001100
Incentives: Name all 4 characters (the bigboi, the cute white mage and the two onion kids that will die asap)
Description: If you like overpowered characters chucking down potions and killing everything in two-three turns, this run is for you.

Game: Trip World
Category: any%
Estimate: 8:00 (this is 8 minutes, not 8 hrs)
Video Link: https://www.twitch.tv/nachoyacopu/v/68084484

Game: Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins (GB)
Category: Glitchless
Estimate: 0:29:00
Video Link:

Incentives: Run the any% category (submitted separately below)
Description: In the last 3 years I've met only one person who doesn't like this game. Glitchless is the main category of this speedgame. Nothing but precise platforming, boss quick kills and a bit of button mashing. I've had the world record for a while now and am always happy to show off this fun game in marathons. I'm open for a race if others submit this category, too.

Game: Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins (GB)
Category: Any% (Glitchfest)
Estimate: 0:07:00

Description: This is the crazy out-of-bounds category that was featured on IGN and during the TASbot segment at SGDQ '16. I can guarantee to finish this faster than TASbot, btw. :-p  I am submitting this on its own as well as as an incentive of the Glitchless run above. Feel free to choose whichever or both! I'm available for a race if others submit this, too.

Estimate: 1:15:00
Videos: An example of a week of WAR, An example of a Streemerz race (not by us, and certainly much better than we'll be)
Incentives: None
Description: Per Osey's inquiry, a week of WAR taking place during the marathon as a Best of 7 race of Streemerz. Super fast-paced game with several challenging moments to make for exciting chokes and comebacks. Would include a "punishment" (as per usual of WAR) and plenty of (family-friendly) banter between the two of us. Open to incentives if someone thinks of a good one.

Game: Zelda 1 Randomizer
Category: any% (although it's more a showcase of the Randomizer)

Estimate: 1:45

Video Link: https://www.twitch.tv/the_greenleaf_effect/v/86650515

Incentives: File names, Tunic Color, Link Sprite, Potential Race

Description: Zelda 1 Randomizer takes everything you know about the original zelda game and turns it upside down. While not necessarily a "speedrun" do to the blind nature of each seed, The goal is to acquire all the triforce pieces, Find ganon, kill him, and rescue the Princess. There are Numerous Settings that can be turned on and Off, and for this one, I would showcase some of the more popular ones, Including the newest edition to Zelda Randomizer 3.0 Random Dungeon Shapes. the Randomizer is a new and exciting way to play Zelda 1, and i hope that my enjoyment can help raise money. In addition, I know that there are several Other Members of the Zelda community, and if it is feasable, we could coordinate a race as well.

Game: Kaizo Mario World

Category: any%

Estimate: 25:00

Incentives: 100% (20 extra minutes of bonus levels, would prefer to do Dram World 100% over Kaizo 100% but willing to do them anyway. 2 bonus levels are extremely luck-dependent)

Description: The name speaks for itself; this is where anything "Kaizo" originated from. The video posted is not my PB but instead a display of how this game went the last time I ran it in a marathon. I am 3rd place in any% and have the WR in 100%.
Game: Sonic 2006
Category: Sonic's Story [No MSG]
Estimate: 1:05:00
Video Link: https://www.twitch.tv/mie_dax/v/21812466
Description: This is a speedrun of Sonic story without the Mission Select Glitch, meaning we run through all the levels and bosses as normal. Or as normal as you can be with this game. The run features a lot of bizarre movement, out of bounds sequences and various other glitchy mechanics. While the run gets bogged down a little by its infamous loading screens, each area is surprisingly fast paced and allows for a lot to talk about during the run. I commentated for this same run at the most recent SGDQ, along with the runner tripl3ag3nt.

Game: Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric
Category: v1.0 Any%
Estimate: 0:40
Video Link: https://www.twitch.tv/mie_dax/v/7887430
Incentives: Quick glitch showcase
Descrpition: One of the most mediocre, glitchy and unpolished games of the last few years is actually one of my favorite speedruns. Surprisingly fast paced despite the loading downtime, similar to Sonic 2006. Unlike other Sonic games gameplay is divided amongst four characters at once and is based more around action-adventure combat and platforming. This run is chocked full of difficult spindash jumps, out of bounds shenanigans and of couse a handful of infinite Knuckles jumps here and there. I run the game on v1.0, meaning I have access to the spindash jump and infinite hight exploits, whereas the patched version does not. I also ran this at SGDQ 2015.

Estimate: 38:00
Video Link: https://secure.twitch.tv/ppotdot1/v/79197045 (WR)
Incentives: None that I can think of
Description: The fantastic but sometimes overlooked final entry in the Nes classic mega series. The main difference between MM6 and the other Nes classic megas is primarily in the slide mechanic. Whereas in the previous sliding mega man titles, you could jump out of slides mid-slide, in 6 you must first cancel the slide by either turning around or pressing jump to stop before jumping. With no major zips or glitches, the focus in MM6 is on fast, clean movement.

Incentives: Juan vs Tostada character choice. Skip Goat Fly
Description: Super underappreciated. Same idea as SotN, a little something for everyone. I've had some minor salt about never getting to run this in a marathon with my normal controller. Online makes that a non-issue. I have performed this for IGAvania kickstarter stream and Californithon.

Video Link:   NG Volt
Incentives: I could learn the other 2 characters competently enough for a character bid war.
Description: A terrible, extremely odd beat em up coming from Squaresoft. An early PS2 game, and notorious to people who played the system at launch. The ragdolling and idiocy of your teammates make for some funny anger inducing moments. The sheer absurdity of character designs and situations could make for riff fodder and comic relief.

Estimate: 1:15:00, 2:28:00

Incentives: Normal vs Dog vs UFO vs Rebirth Ending (Dog and UFO cut about 7 mins or something). See below for Main Cutscenes.

Description: Ok, now just hear me out. I am actually submitting a category that doubles the length of any%. I considered this for a number of reasons. Survival Horror runs tend to be very cut and dry, heavily focused on running the best lines you can. The Silent Hill community that watches on twitch does seem to skew towards the fan side. I feel watching cutscenes with commentary could create a much more engaging atmosphere for the viewers. It could also lead to a much more enjoyable run.

The other reason I suggested this is the possibility of making some side cutscenes incentives (Reading Room, Listen to Mary in the Final Hall vs Not, Visit Neiley's Bar, Get Great Knife, etc.). Time could be made for these by cutting out some more transitional scenes rather than story focused ones.

Incentives: Choice of costume (non-UFO)

Description: Same comments from SH2 apply here as to why I am proposing Cutscenes. UFO Ending is significantly shorter, features a sweet OoBs, Sexy Beam, and a silly ending. For non-UFO, there are a gorillion costumes, especially for PS2.
