Since the Broken Sword 2 run was done by another person than me, I decided to do a Broken Sword 3 or rather 4 run.
Even if it's jump-and-run now, it is still point-and-click like in the prequels. I am at the very beginning yet, but I want to do one of these runs (or both) because

a) I always wanted to do a speedrun
b) would be cool to have the broken sword series fully runned
c) I wanted to contribute something to Adventure-Speedruns.com
d) These are great games

So anyone who has great hints and stuff is welcome.

Oh, in Broken Sword I and II ain't been many hints, you just had to run it without making mistakes. I don't know if it's the same for these two parts. Would be cool if anybody would know good glitches and stuff.
Thread title:
I don't really know of any hints or anything but I want to wish you good luck with this. I'm looking forward to them (Hopefully both games) Smiley
Thank you. One problem is the movement. In both games you are walking via keyboard (w,a,s,d) and it is a little bit complicated with the camera and stuff. And in BS 3, you dont use a mouse, only keyboard.

But I should get this working.
Alright so I am pushing this because I hope to find someone again who knows hints and stuff.

I will probably start doing this run soon even if I didnt play it fully yet.
Speed is everything!
I'll wish you good luck and if you need help, I've found a good walkthrough of Broken Sword 3 here. Wink
Yupp, I also have one, thanks. But I think I will (first) do Broken Sword 4, because I have Broken Sword 3 only on german and I dont know how to make it english.

And thanks for wishing me luck, even if I have to find out with which program I should record this, since Broken Sword 3 and 4 (!) are 3D.

How about fraps?
Somehow I forgot to write that...

But I wanted to do a Broken Sword 2 run once, with Fraps. And even on other games I had no sound when recording, I dont know why. I checked everything and stuff and looked half a hear for it. But if the problem still exists I will try to play it on one of our other computers.

Hmm yes, or you can try GameCam.
Or if you've a PC with a video capture card you can also do it this way...
Adventure Speedruns
I know the problem that people cannot record the sound with fraps, but nobody knows how to correct this failure.

Thanx for the Game Cam Link, I love new proggies. I will test it instantly.

Good. Have you tested the demo?

I tested the demo, but unfortunatly in the demo you cant enable audio  Cheesy

And I didnt find a real full-version of it for free. If you know a way or any other programs tell me (via PM).

- I am testing Camtasia now.

Edit : I really have to find out which device I have to use. But whenever I try chaning stuff in camtasia it crashes.

Any other programs ?

Stereo Mix, normally (If it is what you mean)

There are ZD Soft Game Recorder and Hypercam2.
But Hypercam is better for recording windows, maybe it works
I thought there were 5 broken sword games im probably wrong but o well
No, there are 4 official, but there is Broken Sword 2.5 which is a private project by some people. It isnt fully out yet, only a demo, I could also do a speedrun of that Cheesy

Zero, got my PM ?

It is really annoying that I dont have BS 3 on english. I would do this run first but of course I cant do it on german.

Maybe we (I) should focus to get my devices right and stuff.

I've been looking for a solution for half a year, and how El Nino said, nobody knows how to correct that failure. Even on SDA some people had this problem and kept asking, but in the end nobody knew a solution.

And I cant run it on german because I want it at least uploaded to Adventure-Speedruns.com. There are some runs without sound, but I want to record it with sound.

With Fraps for example, do I need "Line In", "Aux" or "Microphone" ? I've tested each already, but there are so many variables with other settings that I just WOOSH, dunno.
Alright, so one serious problem is the movement. It is very hard to walk, then switching to run, and when the camera angle changes it is even harder. Another problem are laggs sometimes.

To the final time : So my current first-time-playing-time is about 4-5 hours, with a good movement and of course knowing the game by heart, maybe 2-3, I highly doubt to get under 1 hour cause it is really a long game with much walking around.

I did it as good as possible. Maybe I should try it at 640x480 but maybe it is hard to klick on some very tiny things on the game Wink

So about the planing :

I think the hardest part on planing is, to find out what things you have to talk about with people. This might be difficult. I have to know which things are necessary and which are not. The rest should be no problem about the playing-by-heart and the movement.

But I also dont know if I should do it SS, this might be best but since I didnt do one run yet, I might underrate it.

Yes that's right. But I think 640x480 sucks, if the laggs aren't too bad it's okay I think.

And are the laggs only if you record or are there laggs if you're playing without recording?
