I'm not so much suggesting that you need to redo the segment, as I have no real knowledge concerning video encoding and such. My main suggestion was to perhaps submit a portion of anything you weren't sure about in terms of quality to somebody at SDA who could put the issue to rest. If you have no concerns about that, then there really isn't much of an issue. The segment was already good, but getting a faster time is never a bad thing. Honestly besides Avian is there really anything else left in this run besides walking and talking?
D:
TBH I knew what you meant, but posting a proper video quality test would have required finding hosting for a 50-MB MP4 and/or a 1.4-GB lossless video (and that's post-deinterlacing), so playing more video games seemed like the better option. Tongue  If you hadn't said anything, I would've kept the previous attempt and the run would've been four seconds longer, so I felt it was appropriate to thank you.  Also, the unfortunate reality is that I've probably already recorded multiple segments with similar noise issues since I really didn't change anything in my recording setup before this past segment.  Like I said, I don't think the noise is very noticeable after encoding to H.264, so I don't have a problem with continuing to record stuff, but I guess I'll find out in a few months.
Waiting hurts my soul...
I'm not really sure what you mean by noise issues. I don't think I heard any static or over-peaking.

What Zenic said, I'm not sure what you mean by the noise.

Then you are quite welcome my friend.  thumbsup (enjoys getting unexpected/undeserved accolades)

D:
The noise is in the video stream.  It's probably been there for some/all of the recorded segments and didn't bother me until just now, but anyway, I've attached an animated GIF showing what the video would look like if I weren't encoding it as H.264 (but were cutting down the colors to make it a GIF).  The H.264 version shows a little flickering in some of the pixels, but I don't think it's a big deal.

As usual, I like to complain about nothing.

The last bullshit segment of the run is now out of the way.

This recording also brought the noise, but it still isn't a distraction in the MP4 version and I don't know if I can get rid of it without replacing one or more components in my A/V chain, so I'm just going to stop talking about it for the remainder of the run.
Nice work. I hope you didn't have to replay that segment too many times before getting the C-Nut on the first hit.

Segment 27.

Avian turned out to be nearly impossible without all of the Dragon equipment, so I now have too many healing items, even if I skip the Cure in the next segment.  Oh, well.
Waiting hurts my soul...
I wouldn't worry about that at all.

I was under the impression that you were going to do that all along. I was never able to beat him in any of my attempts at lvl 18 without it.
D:
Okay, I need to be honest about this.  I...  um, I...

I fucked up in my notes and wrote that it was the DragonHT that was optional.

...so I thought it might be possible to get past Avian at level 20, and that even if I had to use an extra Cure or two, I might still save time overall.  Then I started testing this segment and said, "oh."

Segment 28.

Almost done. *giddy*

EDITThis apparently can happen.  I've never seen it before.  I wonder if I went down the elevator too soon after beating Jade.

Also, once I'm done with this last segment, I think I'll be able to append all my videos without editing out any of the intro copyright text and still beat five hours.  I might have to cut out the end of that one segment where I played around in the item menu, but...  you get the point.
So are we going for no healing against Jade? Is that even possible?

Also, I'm not sure about the technical timing of this type of run, but if you time from when you gain control of your character (which I guess is the start of the dialogue at the save totem) you would be well under 5 hours. Pretty amazing how epic this run has become.
D:
Jade without healing is possible.  I don't expect it to be fun.

I think it might also be possible to beat Goddess without having to heal more than once, but I don't know if I'm going to try to do it.
Goddess's attacks are pretty predictable damage wise- figuring out whether or not you can do it with a single healing shouldn't be too tough. Getting it to happen after the 50+ attempt Jade will take you could be tricky though. I say clear Jade without healing and then let whatever happens against Tyr happen.
D:
Yeah, my initial math suggested that it might be possible if I had Nina use Fort on Ryu to start the fight.  After some more investigation, I concluded that it's only possible if Nina uses Fort and Goddess only uses BigCrash about 1/4 of the time and she doesn't ever Slam and she hits for low damage at the end of the fight when she gets an attack boost and screw it.

So, this.  I might go back and try to save a few seconds, but it's more likely that I'll just start encoding/editing out the intros after the first segment/etc.  That's probably going to take a while...

Delightful! Cheesy It's been a while since I've waited this eagerly for a run. Muchly thankyous.

k I think I have the audio desync issues in the last 19 segments under control now.

Before I do the final encode, I have a question about how to package the run, since I figure the people in this thread are my primary audience.  With my EarthBound run, I stuck all of the segments together because that's how I like to watch runs and I didn't think much of it.  From reading various threads since then, I've gotten the impression that individual segments are preferred around here.  That seems fair enough; however, I plan to record another commentary and I think there's something about ridiculous five-hour comment marathons that's lost when the commentators are allowed to take breaks.  So, which of the following would everyone prefer to download?

1.  29 segment files, with commentaries recorded separately for each.
2.  29 segment files, with a running commentary that assumes the segments are played back-to-back.
3.  Breath of Fire:  The Speedrun:  The Movie.
Waiting hurts my soul...
option 2 would be my suggestion
Is PJ
Either 2 or 3 for me.
There's a word for that
I prefer 1 in general. 2 I think would get annoying having to make sure the commentary was synced up at the start of each segment, unless you mean running them all together in a playlist.
D:
I meant in a playlist.  The commentary would be recorded while playing all of the segments in a row and then I'd chop up the audio according to the segment lengths.  Hopefully, the computer playing the segments during the recording will be fast enough that it won't throw things out of sync when it changes videos.

I haven't figured out yet what I'd do about mid-sentence segment breaks in that case.  The current leading candidate in my mind is doing nothing.
Waiting hurts my soul...
How do other people do segmented commentary? People seemed to like Zyre's commentary for Skies of Arcadia Legends.
