I'm looking at starting speed runs for Bomberman 64, but there's so many questions I have:

When does the timer start and end (for each category)? The timer seems to start and end at a different spot for every speed runner / TAS.
Is Japanese faster than English? If so, by how much?
Why do speed runners start a new game then immediately reset? Is it because the movie at the beginning is un-skip-able, because you start the timer on the second reset, or both?
What are the current world records for each category? The SDA page seems to be out of date because I see some faster ones on YouTube.
Are there any good streams I can follow to get some tips? Link them?

Thank you so much ahead of time for answering.
Thread title:
Good place to start is here: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/bomberman_6424.html
Started posting in 2007, but by the end of the thread, you can see posts that extend to the end of 2013.
As far as records go, tssbreak.com/links has the most recent records listed for many of the fastest known times, including Bomberman 64.
footbigmike is a name that comes to mind in connection with running Bomberman 64. You could probably check one of his PB videos to indicate when timer starts and ends.

Enjoy!
any tips on a triple bomb jump? I've been trying for a weeks and I can't seem to get it down. I actually got it on accident a few times though, but I can't repeat it.
