Hey, if there's any interest out there for Boktai 2 for the GBA, let me know. I've been interested in doing a run for a while, but it seems that there would be some issues that come up, especially when considering the good old solar sensor. As far as I know there's been no documented run of it, save for the first 5 minutes of a TAS on YouTube. Anyone who would be willing to help me route or glitch-hunt would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! (My latest run has gotten down to about 2 hours, 45 minutes, if that gives you some perspective).

I've only seen someone do a run of Boktai 1 but even he hated doing it. The Solar Sensor makes console annoying to do and emulator gets a huge advantage due to patches that have come out. Honestly, I'm surprised that people want to run these games. Sure they aren't hard or anything, just annoying.
I understand that the solar sensor makes things difficult and perhaps even annoying at times to run the game. However, in Boktai 2, you don't need the "Sun" out nearly as much as in the first installment. The only times you would need it for in 2 is forging and purification. There are actually faster methods of regaining energy than the solar charge; you just need to plan ahead. And setting up the GameCube with a light next to the game pak can get you 4 bars of light. Not the most convenient option, and I can see it as a turn-off, but it can be done.

Overall, I'm not particularly looking to build a massive base of runners. I just want to enjoy the game in a new way and connect with others who also enjoyed the game as a kid. And I heard that the best way to optimize routing is to get others to look at and reconsider it at a different angle. I don't know if there's anyone else who wants to run the games. That's why I came here.
Honestly, the difficulty is part of the fun. The added feature of the solar sensor, though tedious at times; can make the run really stand out when compared to others of its time. Most people looking into the run would assume that you would want it always on at full power, but in reality, it's a very delicate balance to control the sensor properly.
