hey guys, i'm pretty interested in taking part to the run and i'm glad to meet you. Nice first runs though. I will check as soon as possible what could be possible.
Currently testing a theory about abusing the absurdly large hitboxes some surfaces have on the sides (they basically hold Booker in place) at the very start just after arriving at Columbia. I think it has promise if they didn't make all visible walls solid...
(Could end up skipping being dunked if there is a level change trigger other than being dunked?)
There's a point at which you can abuse death like crazy, I suspect. The reincarnation animation is nearly instant if you jump off a building or ship. And it recharges your salt (and health and shield). And salt is the best way to dish out damage in some cases. So I think once you think you no longer need money, you can just start jumping off buildings to get your salt back.

Unfortunately the falling in to the sky respawns don't really count as deaths and don't replenish anything, they just warp you back to safe ground.
From the beggining of "The Welcome Center" until you flip the switch to go up the slow elevator as The Prophet taunts you, I got 10:26. Could easily be improved via a very quick raffle skip and a quick jump down from the welcome center lowering down to the city.
So I originally thought that when you fell it would return you to the last place that you were standing on solid ground. Turns on that this isn't always the case (or that the game isn't very good at finding the last solid ground you were standing on). Here's an example, which is useless but hopefully illuminating:
In this case I respawned in the elevator even though I fell from the balcony above. It seems likely that I hit the elevator's floor somehow by falling next to it. Not sure if this is useful anywhere, but it seems like it might be an easy way to get back in bounds in places that have a death-floor.

Damn, I thought I saw you recharge your salts that way, once. But yeah, I tested it, you're right.
Still, in some situations, it might be faster tactics to jump off a ledge and get a quick respawn, if you know you're dead meat. That is, suicide rather than risk being shot to death and getting the slower Elizabeth-revives-you/exiting-the-1893-office animation.
Taking that path doesnt spawn the 5 enemies infront of the locked door. Need to crouch at one point on the fence to get past the tree clip You can actually do a curved jump around the tree clip saving another 2-3 seconds.

I think this would only save time if you were really good at that gate jump and you didn't have Volly, RPG or any other explosive weapon. Explosive weapons just eat through those 5 guys no problem. Try to see if you can jump over the Lutece in that cutscene, this would make it so useful. Good find.

Sadly you can not jump over the Lutece during the cutscene. EDIT: Its not even hard to get that jump so consistency should not be a problem at all
Found a new skip during the downtown emporia fight. It seems very promising, I haven't tested it a lot yet, hopefully someone else can find a better use of it than just skipping half of the worst fight in the game (imo). It's a little difficult to time, but with practice it's not too bad. You only get one shot to do it during the fight, to get another shot at it you would have to restart checkpoint.
The part where I fall off the ship isn't necessary, thankfully it respawns you back up there. You have to kill 5 guys before that second gunship comes in, and I recommend killing or stunning the guys on the second gunship or they might knock you off or get in your way.
I'm not sure how much time this could save, since you have to return to that area to open the tear. It's going to take alot of experimenting to see if this would even be worth the trouble to do.

This very well might lead us straight into the Comstock house without opening the tears. I will test it tomorrow. EDIT: It will be a matter of navigating invisible walls. For PC I have just found a trainer that allows you to save/load position which will make finding the right invisible walls so much easier without having to restart everytime you fall down.
It seems that this game is just made for PC. No matter how hard you play, you will not get Sub 3 hours on consoles. I guess PC and X360/PS3 should be different categories. I'm guessing it's faster because of the saves, FPS and maybe other things.
Hi guys, i found out something that might be useful.
It seems like some "reviving" barriers, aka the ones that take you back to where you were standing when you fall, dont appear with the level, but are created where the player is standing on a floor near them.
And so, if you keep away from the floor, and walk on some objects, or on rails, the barriers dont spawn and you can jump to your death.
It's even possible very early in the game, as you can see below. Also at that moment, as you shouldnt be able to die, the game just doesnt make you spawn back, and you keep falling.
I have another video of using this later in the game. As you can die, it makes you respawn at the start of the zone (not at the latest checkpoint).
sorry for my fails at jumping

A random thought from watching Para's latest run:

Well, using this, you can, even though it takes you back, and it doesnt looks like it replenishes anything. Anyway, i'm not sure it'll be really useful in a speedrun... Maybe it would be an easy way to trigger a death, or maybe someone will find a better way to use this.
Unfortunately the skip I just posted doesn't seem to really help. You're perpetually locked in combat and you can't open lady comstocks gate. I'll keep looking for a way to get straight in to comstock house, but I don't think it's possible.

do you happen to have a link to said trainer? As you said it would make testing things a lot easier
I was able to get from the Cemetery straight to the bank map via OOB skipping the fights, elevator to load the map etc. However you can not interact with the tear which sucks :/ Maybe someone will find an use for this OOB: (You fall from cemetery map into the bank map)
Once you are in bounds of the vault, can you go take the elevator up (and then right back down) to reload everything? I'm not sure, but I think that tear won't open until the crow guy in that room is killed (and hes not there when you enter oob). Maybe if this is used in conjunction with the downtown euporia skip a bunch of stuff could be skipped (I'm not even sure if that cemetary oob works after doing the skip, but I don't have a save near there so I can't check tonight).

The elevator is most likely not even there. I've gone in there through a different method and the elevator was still at the top floor. Seems if you cant properly zone in through the elevator from the top, the zone is completely devoid of functionality.
What about if you do the Downtown Euporia skip, but once you are on top of the tower, you just go left and jump over the gate locking the path to the vault. On the way back, the enemies/handyman might have despawned from the area.
After watching a walkthrough of the game, I noticed that the player used Undertow during the ride to the Hand of the Prophet (the autoscroller). This move was effective in quickly grabbing up to three enemies from one ship to the original, and then blasting them off. One would not even need to jump to other ships to eradicate a group of them. This may be more effective than using Bucking Bronco, unless one can cast Bronco onto enemies on another ship and cast them off. Video link, starts around 21:30: Gamefront also showed a video of vigor combinations which I am not sure if I have seen in any of the runs I have watched. The first few look interesting, in that one can Possess an enemy, shock them, and that enemy will shock other enemies it runs into. Might be worth a look:
