The main thing that slows me down in the new route is the rocket guy that spawns on the fourth barge, who is still spawned after you leave the bank. Killing him before you can open the gate to the third tear is a pain. I think you're probably right though, and it's definitely worth going for the jump.

What's your method for the Finkton suicide, out of curiosity?
My current theory for Finkton is that you need to kill yourself in the elevator after Elizabeth starts to move. If you move out of the elevator, you'll spawn by the logs. If you kill yourself in the elevator before Elizabeth moves out of her cutscene position, then you'll respawn in the elevator without the animation. Still need to test it more, though.

What's your guy's setup for the suicide in Emporia? I end up in combat much of the time and don't know why.

I've killed myself immediately after getting my weapon back in the elevator three times and had three different results.

I'll repost what I said before about the emporia skip:
I noticed when I was testing the new emporia skip that it was a little inconsistent until I figured out why. It seems if you overshoot your jump, you will spawn the snipers and get stuck in combat forever. If you undershoot, you have a chance of still being in combat from the other guys you can past. The best way to do the death jump seems to be a non-sprinting jump originating from close to the gate. Also as soon as you spawn, just look at the lock and activate it. Don't move after you respawn, you can hit the lock from where you are.

^ What para said about Emporia...Also you'll know you've gone too far on the jump if the snipers' subtitles pop up while you're dying. In that case I find that hiding behind the pillar to the right of the gate (out of their line of site) lets you avoid combat fairly consistently.
Race tonight?
Sounds like there's one at 10:00 PST. I'll be there, and I feel really good about this; I've got all of the new skips close to 100% consistent. Downtown emporia jump and prophet's cabin skip are eaach at about 70%.

It takes like, 4 seconds max to kill him. Just jump on the skyline, jump on the barge, bucking bronco, and shoot him.

Alternatively you can hit him with a possession before entering the bank, then when you come out he'll be gone.
I might race, the FF14 beta is going on right now and I may play that instead.

Do we have any information about why you get stuck on the freight hook during the Slate fight sometimes? It's ruined two runs in a row for me, and I have no idea what causes it Sad

I guess I can just do the fight without the hook, but that's like 5 seconds slower best case scenario.

That happened to me once when I restart checkpoint while in the patriot room.
if we do a race today, what time would it be?

Got a new world record!

http://www.twitch.tv/teliot/c/2509481

Time 2:11:33, very significant improvement over Para's 2:13:46. The biggest change in this run is actually just switching from Ultra graphics to Low. I estimate it saves at least a minute over the course of the different loading screens. I didn't want to change before because the graphics of this game are so pretty, but I found that there is shockingly little difference between ultra and low. I couldn't even tell which was which in comparison screenshots.

The other great improvement in this run were the fights. I think at least 4 of the fights were the fastest I have ever done, and none of them were bad. All of the movement and minor skips were good, and the factory skip was very quick and also incorporated systemofadown's improved setup.

There were two large mistakes this run. The first was failing the downtown emporia jump. Unfortunately the rocket man on the 3rd barge went godmode and sniped me just as I was jumping. Luckily I got the handyman suicide quickly after that, limiting the loss to about 40 seconds (estimate). The second was dying in the prophet's cabin without opening the door, losing 30 seconds.

I'm very pleased with this run, but I think my goal of 2:10 is out of reach. Skipping the hall of heroes fight would be necessary to accomplish that until we find something new.
Congrats on record teliot!

Can confirm...I have Infinite on an SSD and ultra vs low makes a difference of like 10 seconds during the final sequence alone :/

Congrats on WR, too. Damn good run.

EDIT: It's short notice, but does anyone want to race tonight around 8 or 9 PST? I'm going to try to get a run in, and a race would be fun.
I'm up to race; the earlier the better (I have class in the morning).

Alright, let's plan on 8PST then.
Very close race. Ferret was ahead 20s by battleship bay, which just baffles me. I also found out my final zeppelin fight can save up to 30s. Basically 2:10 is much more achievable than I thought.
aka FFAtv on twitch
Just checked Ferret's run, and he enters Battleship Bay about four seconds ahead of my best time. I guess he had a flawless opening, or just really really good load times.
So... You guys are running it on EASY?! I just finished it today... Didn't like the game much.
Yep running on Easy Mode, Pewable.
