If this method is 'frame rate based' , I don't think we should use it, as it not really fair :/. Also I was thinking about making a 'rule' like we have to run with the frame cap, so nobody could get a better time just because he has a really good pc, it seem pretty fair to me

That's what I've said already, there are too many frame dependant tricks now, which means it needs another category.
Now. I dont have some incredibly easy new path of getting over, so now this might even sound really redundant/arbitrary/stupid to some, however it really helped me to visualize it this way, b/c i was hella frustrated at this jump last night..
Not only does his hitbox shrink, but it kinda just feels like Booker literally shrinks when you scope, and if anyone here's ever played halo 2 or any other fps that functions in a similar way, jump-crouching is the way to go if you want to get in higher places with a tight space that you couldn't originally reach with a normal jump. Cus..you shrink.
so, just substitute jump crouching for jump-scoping. Sounds stupid, but it saved me hours of frustration, i mean it literally feels/works like a jump-crouch to me. That whole thing that people do with swooping the camera before you scope https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2tsTT25YrGo you dont need, just jump so that booker slides against the wall and scope/shrink to fit into the tiny passage, which takes some timing, scope slightly before (but not immediately before) you reach the max height of your jump
maybe i still have a lot of muscle memory from when i used to super jump in halo 2, so im just used to crouch jumping into impossibly tight spaces in barriers..idunno..hopefully this helps someone out there
I've got a reasonably consistent method for the factory skip, but I basically just do it by feel and it's hard to explain without just showing it. It won't look any different than anyone else, anyway.
I'm fairly certain that Para's new strat is more consistent, but since you have to walk across the sign to set it up, it will necessarily be slower than the original skip if the original can be made consistent.
Every time that I've gotten the factory skip it feels like I "glide" a little higher than the normal jumps. Maybe there's some sort of positioning or zoom timing that lets you slide up the slope a little further? Haven't gotten anywhere near consistent enough with this to really be able to say yet.

If there was a way to cap the fps without turning on vertical sync, I'd be ok with it. But man, I haaaaaaate v-sync. Even the tiniest amount of input lag drives me nuts.
To cap frame rate w/o vsync or locking it, you need to edit the Xengine.ini file. ( It's either in C:\Users\%YourUserName%\Documents\My Games\BioShock Infinite\XGame\Config on Win7 or maybe somewhere in the steam folder.) Change the value of MaxSmoothedFrameRate to 60 and make sure bSmoothFrameRate = TRUE. AFAIK this will not create input lag.
I'm pretty sure the left side version is impossible at 60fps, and the right side version actually feels much easier with low fps (it was almost impossible for me with 300fps). I think this is because with high fps I am getting stuck on the roof while trying to do the right side version (I actually got stuck on the roof and climbed all the way up it once, another way to do the trick I guess). It feels easier to 'slide' when you aren't getting stuck. I think I can get this 1 in 5 tries now with capped fps.
Tama your post also helped me out a lot with visualizing how to squeeze Booker in there.
Factory skip could have been better. I didn't get the handyman suicide and the gunship just before the airship battle took a while to appear. Besides that, was a pretty good run.
Finally figured out how to get Para's factory skip route consistently. Will at long last do a full run again some time tonight or tomorrow.
Also, I messed with the zooming + jumping at the graveyard jump. Didn't seem to make it any easier, but then again I couldn't get that jump in the first place.
Got 2:14:14. I got the factory skip first try, though I did have some trouble getting Liz into the right position for the jump up. Didn't get the handyman skip and lost 20 seconds in the final fight, otherwise was a really solid run that I'm quite proud of.
I recorded off my stream, which is at 25fps. I don't have a capture card, and I don't want to slow down my game due to streaming, so the quality isn't the best, and xsplit doesn't let you stream at higher fps without buying a license. The stuttering in the recording is kind of strange, though; I don't get get that when I stream Dishonored, but I do with BSI.
I'm new here and I'm really interested in Bioshock Infinite speedrunning so I'm joining this thread. Right now, I'm trying to get the factory skip.
This factory skip is just so hard to get. Been literally trying for 2 hours to get it and barely got close to it once. At first I thought the choice of weapon had something to do with it, but even with the grenade launcher, Booker won't fit.
I'm starting to think it is a frame related skip. My computer is getting old and the game runs at barely 45 fps on high settings, and the jump is simply impossible. When I set it to low, I get something like 110-120 fps and I can feel I'm really close to succeeding (sometimes Booker gets stuck but then falls back down). Does anyone of you managed to do the jump with the fps limit on ? I'd be interested to know if it is possible or if it's just me who suck at this skip.
on the right side, I get it with fps limit, but the method on the left side can't be done on lowfps/fps limit, it can be done with fps over 130 or something like that. However the non-framerate-based method (on the right side) is hard, even harder when you don't really know how to do it, just try to "replicate" how somebody did it.
I think its just practice, at first i thought it was impossible on xbox because i couldnt get it for like an hour. but after lots of practice its pretty easy. when i practiced i used the pistol, and now its the only weapon i can do it with.
Interesting, I wonder if certain weapons make it easier. Sniper rifle, for example? I tried it a little with the rocket launcher it seemed about the same, except that the rocket launcher takes longer to zoom/unzoom.
