Oh with the route that is currently in use we skip possession and don't get it until much later in the game.
ok even in 1999 mode?
I have never done one but I would highly assume so because skipping the possession animation and going through the raffle takes at least 5-8 minutes

I use raffle skip  I use all skips even in 1999 mode the only skip I dont use is the one you use elisabeth before factory I use drop cloth there instead.
But doing a run without possession in the beginning is not wise at all you WILL DIE! hahaha it can be such a pain that run in 1999 mode but I guess that why i like it.
you mean HRH?

I guess possession would be worth picking up if it could save about 10 seconds before you get bucking bronco (which is were you can normally open up the vigor wheel)

HRH? is where in the game at plaza of zeal?
Im crap at remembering names but I will know what you mean if I see it.
Its gear like drop cloth, you can farm it 30 minutes into the run at the arcade.
Yeah that part I know that you do, I hate that part of the run so much that I have picked up the resistance trilogy to run in stead so I will not be in here on this thread so much more I cant be bothered with getting perfect runs up to that point and then spending 5-10 min waiting for the right gear to drop its just to frustrating for me!!
I started recording several times but each time I get screwed over at arcade it never fails that part so far and I ran this game everyday for more then a month and drops of the right gear only happens every 4-5 runs in a time frame I´m happy with.

Hope you all get treated well by RNGesus in the future.
hi guys, I recently started to run this game and I after some practice I think the Comstock gate skip is pretty consistent without HRH doing the method shown here (present on the google docs).

The most important thing to notice is that you need to jump before the eagle's head that is on the ground and don't kill yourself immediately, wait to get a little closer to the gate. The second part is pretty simple, after you go on top of the railings no need to rush.

This method was posted a few pages/months back by DumDumDugan. It is the technique most commonly used by console runners on runs w/o HRH.
Hey guys, does anyone possibily have the patch 1.0 avaiable for uploading. As the skyline skip below is not possible on the current patch, for the 100% route the only possible way to do it is to do a very clutch jump on top of the lamp and then another clutch jump over the gate.

Btw, the suicide doesn't work for the 100% route because you follow the quest line to get to this point, so your respawn point is never set behind the gate.
Am I the only one who comes back here once a week in hopes of a new skip that would make the run worth trying again?
No Chadbro, you aren't.  And I still look occasionally for a new skip.  I miss this game Sad
Stoic_Squirrel! I was concerned you were dead.

Apologies to everyone who runs this game having clicked on this thinking they were getting an interesting new reply.

With infinite being dead I think were all a little dead inside

Greetings, all, first timer -- be gentle!!  Smiley

First off, I just want to thank everyone in here for sharing all of the knowledge they have to help those of us that would like to get our feet wet in speed running.  I'm a HUGE fan of the BioShock series (shoutouts to Bl00dthunder for his amazing runs of 1 & 2) and an avid follower of SDA and AGDQ.  It's literally been one of the events I look forward to every year right along side the EVO fighting game tournament.

That said, I'll jump right in.  lol  I've been working on some very early "test" runs of Infinite, and so far I'm getting the hang of most of the skips and glitches.  However, I'm running into one inconsistency at this point...

When I try to skip Comstock's speech in Hall of Heroes (immediately after skipping Wounded Knee/Boxer), I can't seem to get the enemies to spawn in the room behind me so that I can get the fast door with Elizabeth.  I got it one attempt out of maybe 6 or 7.  Is there a trick to getting them to consistently spawn in?

Again, thank you so much, everyone.  I love seeing all the hard work you have all done over the years, and I look forward to finally contributing some of my own!  Cheers!!
Hey IFD Flexo!  Glad to see someone else running the game :-)

Are you talking about the skip that takes you into the "The Memorial to our Lady"?  If so, there is a very specific location behind that door you have to hit.  If you are short you don't respawn in the Memorial area, and if you go to far it won't trigger the enemies in that room.  If I remember correctly, when you make it into the Memorial but go to far, you trigger Slate dialogue, so if you hear Slate you have failed the skip.

For reference: http://www.twitch.tv/stoic__squirrel/c/4486003

My setup is to line my cursor with that large crack in the floor on the ground, I hold shift (to sprint), run forward, jump, and suicide quickly, in that order.  Remember you have to be sprinting to get the momentum to get through the door, but you need only to do it for that split second.  Try to find a setup that works well for you that you can do consistently, but that should get you started.  If you have any questions let me know, you'll have it in no time.

Awesome, that's EXACTLY what I was talking about, Stoic!  Thanks very much for the help!  Smiley

Currently, I'm going through the game from the absolute beginning and looking for "seams" in geometry through which the player can pass.  Much like the Possession skip in the beginning of the fair grounds, I'd like to see if there are any other weird little things that might not yet have been discovered.  I'll post all of my findings here for those that check in regularly.

Are you talking about Out of Bounds tricks (OoB)? A lot of them were already found, many of which are only doable with Hill Runner's Hat. A new useful one that you can do "raw" (without a gear screwing with/outracing collision detection/clipping trickery) is pretty unlikely at this point. The big ones historically were Factory/Thoroughfare. I think the other ones folks found were generally useless as they resulted in softlocks/untripped flags.

Of course, don't let that stop you from looking. It'd be great to have a new useful trick for this game, though it feels like it's been nearly exhausted at this point.
For anyone interested, I found a really consistent way of getting over the gate in Downtown Emporia. It always used to be a tricky jump for me (even worse without HRH) and now I get it like 9 times out of 10.

Here's a video of how I do it : (sorry for the poor quality but poor internet connection = small shitty video files)

You simply get on the pillar like always, but instead of doing a curve jump and hoping for the best, you do a little strafing jump to get on the other side of the pillar. Once there, your goal is to sprint and for some reason, you can't use the sprint key and then run on this side. You have to start moving forward and then hit the sprint button. Once you're sprinting, as soon as you drop you directly face the gate and hit the aim key (you're still holding the forward key through it all). Now as you can see in the video, you're gonna have a little stuttering. That means you've got it. As soon as you've got the stuttering, you stop aiming and keep pressing forward. You'll get over the gate every time.

The key is just to sprint (if you walk you don't get far enough to get over the gate), to keep pressing forward all the way through, and stop aiming right when you get the stuttering. It takes a little practice but.. what doesn't Wink !
We are all stories in the end...
I was truly excited when i found this thread. I can't wait to read and watch all of whats been posted here and can't wait to start running this.{ sorry i have no useful information Sad }
Vanger, I love this new method.  Still working on making it more consistent for myself, but to be honest, during runs, this skip was the most difficult for me.

I've actually been doing runs offline off and on, I still really enjoy the game.  My runs aren't competitive as my hardware is aging and getting pretty slow, should upgrade soon.  Right now for the sake of my sanity I do some save game duping to not worry about the HRH grind...once I get to Soldier's Field checkpoint, I delete my save games, and just leave a save state that has HRH already picked up as a gear, then reload.  It loads me in the exact position I tabbed out on.  Probably not  legal, but allows me to practice runs regardless.

Also, hey ACoffeepot!  Let us know if you have any questions, we would be more than happy to help.

Thanks stoic Smiley From what I can tell from this thread and runs that I've watched I have a decent bit of catching up to do lol
