Bioshock (Any %) (Single Segment)

Verifier Responses

Still going over the run, but I was wondering if there's a way to get an encode with the brightness turned up a bit. I understand the game is dark, but this encode is so dark it's hard to see the crosshair, let alone what is going on in a bunch of areas. Using the brightness controls in MPC didn't really help matters much, almost like the darker areas were stripped from the frames during encode. Also, the stereo is reversed.

Having watched the video all the way through, I'm going to have to agree with the above verifier. It's not worth rejecting over but some parts of the video are really dark and hard to see.

---Just wanted to include these for completeness. These same verifiers have longer verifications below.

Bioshock

Runtime: 52:23.78

Av quality the quality is good but there is a minor issue with it being to dark over all nothing worth rejecting the run over.

Cheats: I detected no cheats in this run

Thoughts and analysis
This run is very solid in my personal notes I found no more then 25 seconds of time loss. This run can be improved on, but the only way it can be made any better is with a perfect run in my opinion. The small amounts of time lost in this run are acceptable within the given run of just over 52 minutes.

Final decision
After watching this run several times, I would have to say that SDA should

ACCEPT it.

I got the start at 1:23 when you get "dropped" into the water (not as soon as you reach the surface) and the end at 53:42 when you lose control to stab Fontaine for the last time since no actions can be taken as soon as the animation starts. So a total of ~52:19.

Overall, it was an incredible run. There were minor mistakes that lost a few seconds here and there. The one that stood out to me was missing the bathosphere lever right in the beginning. Basically lost a second or two for no reason other than to show off a glitch that doesn't improve time. I'm happy to say that this was not indicative of the remainder of the run. The splicer throwing during the escort was phenomenal, especially considering it was right at the end of the run. The planning, glitching, and execution were solid. Barring a new skip or glitch I don't see this being improved.

Accept.

AV: Aside from some areas being really dark and the stereo reversed, the quality is fine.
Cheats: Nothing that I could see.

This is a very impressive run. A few errors here and there, but nothing worthy of rejection. Nice to see a SS that beats out a segmented run.

I thought about going through and detailing things but honestly I don't know as much about this game as I thought I did. Other than the darkness in some spots and the stereo being backwards I really can't complain about this run too much. Nice skips, excellent planning as far as I could tell, and some really amusing bugs.

Accept.

Decision: Accept

Congratulations to Alex 'Blood Thunder' French!

Thanks to those who took the time to verify and thanks for the Accept :).

Just thought I'd say a thing or two real quick.
*About the brightness - all I did was cut out the loading screens and then sent it to nate for encoding, so I'm more than willing to resend a raw file with a higher brightness if needed or if that's something nate was/is already working on?
*The trick at the beginning (missing the bathysphere). Doing this trick 1st try actually saves around 2 seconds, so it's not just showing off, although it does look pretty cool.
