I can see at least another 1:30 coming off this time/route. so sub 1:28 seems possible. One of my viewers says he has a few glitches/skips to show me(waiting on videos) that may also save some time

1:28:24 (http://www.twitch.tv/bl00d_thunder/c/3661521) OBS derped in ryan's amusement so the first 15 mins or so are not included but they are the exact same as before.

This WR features a few route changes thanks to Pabiloz. (http://www.youtube.com/user/pabiloz)
- Getting drill dash off the brute at the camera is possible (this could probably be optimized a bit more?)
- Skip a fight in FF part 2 (after 2nd flower)
- Easy method for suicide (set certain items on fire). So far it's being used:
  + After getting the key from Grace, use the chair to die and warp to the bottom
  + After killing simon wales in SA, loot crates and set on fire to warp to the vita-chamber on the upper level
- Cluster bomb upgrade for Grenade launcher gives a better chance for insta-killing both big sisters in persephone.
- Using Decoy on the final fight and wait for timer to go off with leadhead splicers instead of fighting brutes/houdini splicers
- Saving the 2nd Big Daddy in Dionysus Park.(This needs to be tested more, very likely that he'll die.)

Edit: Just figured out the the diary skip for inner persephone (really easy on the 1st message).

Myself and Judgy were messing around with Ryan's Amusement a bit last night when I found out that you can clip through a certain part of the wall near the Drill power upgrade. Go pass the upgrade and turn right, if you get on the couch and get into the corner of the couch, facing the window overlooking the Journey to the Surface ride, the wall right above the window is where you can clip through. (might upload a video later for convenience :P)

Clipping through the wall lets you fall down into the Journey to the Surface ride without waiting for the door to be destroyed during the 1st harvest (skipping the 1st harvest entirely.Unfortunately this doesn't seem worthwhile as you would still need to harvest the 1st body to activate the air vent :/. Just wanted to document this in case someone ever decides to look into it more. Finding a way to activate the air vent without harvesting either body or a glitch to harvest the 2nd body twice could possibly save a bit of time although both seem to be impossible.

We've also managed to find an abundance of soft locks, some a little bit weirder than others. :p

Borderlands 2 Glitch Hunter/ router.
Blood was talking to me about flying in Bioshock 2 similar to that in Bioshock so I took a look at it and found out, It's pretty easy to do, and do repeatably.



What this video shows is that using a particular item I can Fly by setting its against other items in the world , however it will not work from a flat position on the floor, this is due to how the game handles item collisions and without something to collide into it won't work.

By placing the item on an angle against something the game forces the dynamic object away from the static object, causing you to shoot upwards / diagonally, This is much harder to control than in BS.

The item itself is a particular Red Section of wall with a chip out of it, this is big enough that when it moves your hit-box stays on it forcing you upwards. This type of item can ONLY be found in rubble piles which have red wall sections in their appearance. (I am not saying that this is the only object which can fly, however, due to its shape and size it is the easiest)

Got another WR tonight but I'm going to bother highlighting/linking it, only saved 2 seconds (all due to the diary skip in inner persephone). Lost a full 2 minutes early on due to atlantic express/ryan's amusement diary skips taking forever to get. I also tried a little different routing midway through the run that didn't really pay off so I think sub 1:25 isn't too far off.

Using what judgy has found i was able to use a table like in BioShock's Magic table of flight in inner persephone going towards the last area with little sisters to jump up to the 2nd floor early but it is not consistent at all. Now that we know of a way of getting these boost, they could very well be used, just need a more reliable method.

Can definitely be improved but it's a pretty good improvement over the previous 1:28:22 time!
Expect to see more BioShock 2 runs as it gets closer to SGDQ
Pabiloz has managed to find yet another time saver. This one seems to save 2-3 mins depending on how quickly you can pull it off. Sub 1:20 is closing in!

wow, that's a great looking skip.  really curious if there are other triggers/walls like that you can simply jump over with a good set up now.

jumping's generally so useless in bioshock 2 it's not terribly surprising use of it wasn't adequately tested by both the development team and runners and can be exploited.  approximately how much time does this skip save?  do you think you can manage sub 1:20 yet?
This latest skip saves 1 min on outer persephone alone but considering we no longer need the grenade launcher upgrades or need to buy proxy mines, it saves a bit more. It's actually not jumping that allows us to skip the big sister fight but the Scout plasmid. I think with a clean run and getting both these skips, it can definitely bring down the time but I don't think sub 1:20 is possible quite yet.

Once again, Pabiloz has found a great time saver. The fabled FF diary skip (and a better theater skip setup w/o a death warp!). Sub 1:20 is now very possible! Cheesy

1:20:53 is the newest record. I'm not even going to bother highlighting it, the run was literally reset worthy at multiple spots. Sub 1:19 is my new goal until pabiloz finds another skip Tongue

Some notes (Route Changes):
- New death warp in Ryan's Amusement (saves close to 1 min)
- Kill the Brute before he breaks the door in Siren Alley
- Route change in Dionysus Park to cut out some back tracking. (overall it is smoother, diaries work out better time wise and saves a good chunk of time)
- WinterBlast 3 is now the primary plasmid for end-game fights instead of Incinerate 3

Really excited to see you start some segments for Bs2 :D.

I'm curious as to which difficulty you're choosing to use for this one, knowing you did Hard for Bs1. As far as timing goes, if you're using the same spots (beginning/end) then my best for segment 1 is 4:59.60.


That glitch is actually extremely useful. If we didn't need electrobollt in the last area, we could have skipped that too but not needing gravity well is still a really good time saver!

hmm need run that part again. i dont think there is much time save.
Anyway, im using easy. The difficulties seem to be messed up, or it feels that way for me.

I've only played the first level of the dlc. I was just guessing that it is similar to Bioshock 1, where you only need plasmids at one fixed point.
As far as i can tell i was right with that guess, at least the gravitiy well plasmid is not needed. Smiley

For that level there 2 things left to do:
1.  We need to find the trigger for the door (under the ion laser) to the elevator.
2.  We need to find skips.


EDIT: The Maglock in Operations (to the turbine) can be disable with the same trick.
 
My timing could also be due to human error (starting too late, spliting too early) so it may not be entirely correct.

You're correct about plasmids only being needed in a few fixed spots.

The Trigger to open that door is going to Porter's Office and getting the item's out of the hatch.

As far as skips go:

1) there are 3 diary skips that can be done to save time. 1 right after killing the 2 spider splicers (triggered by picking up ion laser), the message by porter as you enter his office, and wahl's message after you open the hatch in porter's office. You might also be able to skip the Thinker's message before the door to his office opens, but I've not tested it.

2) You can death warp immedietly after picking up electro-bolt  and go to a vita-chamber right before that room (saves a 5-10 seconds.)

3) If you can somehow die right after coming out of the water (I don't see a way), you would teleport to a vita-chamber further ahead and skip some walking. Once again, I can't see a way to take damage or getting a lot of damage quick enough to make it beneficial.
