The biggest VG announcement ever?

1. Squaresoft unveiling Final Fantasy VII for SONY, not Nintendo (I don't think anything topped this) and the eventual world wide craze that ensued afterwards.

2. Ocarina of Time delays, as many as there were, and fans waiting three years for the game.

3. Blood in Mortal Kombat on Sega Genesis, but not Super Nintendo.

4. Sega dropping out of the console business and going strictly as a game developer.

5. E3 2004's Zelda Trailer and Miyamoto's appearance with the Master Sword and Hylian Shield.
Rock on, Earthbound. Rock on.
Revolution news. I've never been as excited about anything in the VG industry as these tidbits that we've been slowly accumulating. NEVER.
TSA I think I'm gonna have to agree with everyone of those... Grin But if those rumors about FFVII on ps3 are true I will literally wet myself, They already have me drooling at the tech demo, More than just a tech demo ::)? I hope so. It would be the smart thing to do for the company because of how much profit they would get. Ok now I'm just rambling, here support a good cause and sign the petition--> http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/994586775

Frig1d, fix your sig. H-scroll is bad.
I remember Valve's eventual "Yes, HL2 is actually delayed" announcement being pretty explosive.

Um...what?
1. Phantasy Star Universe (but that's because i'm a PS fan)
2. Phantasy Star Online (same as above)
3. Lunar The Silver Star getting remade with significant storyline changes
4. Arc the Lad collection
5. N64 upgrade graphics chip (This idea had the potential to prolong the life of consoles, why it was never followed up on again is beyond me. Oh well, maybe Revolution will have a slot for HDTV)
DMC3,ZOE2 and Xenosaga 2. Am I crazy?

Actually, if you were referring to the same press release that I read from Microsoft, they said it was normal for 3-5% of systems to have hardware failure... not 50% thank god.

Sorry, I got it mixed. Here in Finland 50% of the consoles are broken. We had such a bad luck over here. If your Xbox is broken you will get a new one but NOLY if it isn`t working AT ALL. So if it shows some dead pixsels or if it has some problems starting up you will only get a 100 euro discount for a new console. Microsoft making money again.
ouch!
Gamepark GP32
Gamepark GPX2

Oh, oh! I remember!

Sam and Max sequel BACK in production. Uberw00t announcement, there.
MGS for PS1 forever.
MGS 3 since I'm a huge fan of MGS 1 and 2. Am I the only one who doesn't hate Raiden?

Although I have played and beaten MGS 2 on every difficulty and have gotten the dog tags on every difficulty...I've only played and beaten MGS 3 once. I guess I just don't like the jungle setting...and The End took me literally 2 days to beat off and on.

In an interview Hideo Kojima said that he wanted that battle in the game even if 8 out of 10 people got so disgusted they took the game back. I was almost one of those people.

I think The End is an amazing battle! Nowdays it takes me about 10 minutes to finish him off but at my first try it took me 4 hours xD
I don`t hate Raiden. Snake is better but Raiden is OK.
give me your eyes!!!
The End was very cool, but it certainly didn't take me that long (not that quick either, I suck).

I would hate Raiden if he didn't do the most horrendously cool dare-devil backflip thingies!

Congratulations, you win the "utter bullshit" award.

(Xboxes do not have pixels, and thus cannot have any dead pixels.)

I have NO idea what they are called in consoles. I know that you won`t get a new one if it doesn`t show some part of the screen.
dinosaur from the past
They don't exist in consoles. The only way you'd get an effect like that is if your TV is zonked in some way... and then it's your TV's fault, so of course Microsoft's not going to help you.
MarioKart64.com biotch!
Since Doom 2 is one of my favorite games ever I would say the Doom 3 announcment. Even though I never played it cause I didn't have the capabilities on my comp.

2. Halo 2 announcment
3. San Andreas previews
4. Prolly when they announced Banjo Tooie. That was pretty cool.
5. The fact that there is a Duke Nukem game in development.

I think he is referring to "artifacts", but that is something completely different than pixels. Artifacts occur when the GPU has some sort of problem, either caused by heat or damaged circuitry leading to erronous graphics calculations. I can understand why he mix them up, graphical artifacts look very much like a cluster of dead pixels.
DMC3,ZOE2 and Xenosaga 2. Am I crazy?
Yeah. I did some research to find the right word to describe the "dead pixels". I didn`t buy a 360 but my friend did and he had the problem "artifacts" and he didn`t get a new 360.

Thanks Kibumbi for clearing this up!

Don't games have pixels? I was under that assumption..... But here in Canada if you break something because you can't beat the game, it's called "exchanging" or "taking that shit back." Actually, I don't think it's possible to break an X-box, so I wouldn't really know for sure.

TSA's choice of Square to Sony is one I should have thought to at least mention, but honestly, I remember at the time that it didn't surprise me. Crystal Chronicles in the other direction was noteworthy. Square had been hinting at that move too though.

Mother 3 is a good one. I figured they would eventually get around to it though, because Nintendo is a relatively rational/predictable company and it was obvious the demand was there and they had been keeping Ness around in games like Smash Bros. I think Mother 1+2 was annouced beforehand? But I could be wrong on this.

EA gaining exclusive NFL rights to Madden was not in the least surprising to me. I follow the NFL and I saw this coming a mile away. The extreme awfulness of Midway's new Blitz game was even less surprising. I dunno, I only buy one year's football game per console and I already had Madden, so this doesn't really affect me. Side note: the virtual reality sensation rightfully died 10 years ago, and I am mostly qualified to say this.

Last thing, not to make fun of half the responses here but, did it really blow you away that after the success of a game like Doom 2, they would eventually make a Doom 3?

It was ten or so years later, your telling me you weren't surprised. I was especially surprised since doom 2 is one of my all time favorite games.
