I was wondering what everyone's personal biggest VG news announcements were. It would have to be something combining a lot of surprise and personal impact. Here's my top 5, and #1 just happened, which made me think of this topic:

1) a Valkyrie Profile prequel for PS2 in development
2) a new Chrono game in development (hope #1 is not near the letdown #2 ended up being)
3) Enix consuming Square
4) Sega calling it hardware quits
5) various fan translation or emulator releases

I may or may not be forgetting anything. Working Designs going backrupt is a recent big one, but it wasn't terribly surprising. If a new Ogre game ever gets announced, it might shoot to the top for me, but I don't see this happening anytime soon if ever.

StarCraft: Ghost is actually coming.
1: The revealing of The Wind Waker

2:The revealing of Twilight Princess.

Both by visual standpoints.
Sleeping Terror
I don't know. Mother 3 on GBA, maybe?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Half-Life 2 announcement Wink
That MGS4 will be on the PS3 not too far away from now, and that Snake is old and has a moustache.

Shocking stuff  Shocked
King n00b!
UT2003 announcement.. Too bad it was a let down.

I seriously hoping UT2007 is really good.
Unreal Tournament was my first ever FPS online game.. I played Unreal First, but not online.
Diablo was my first RPG type game online.
TIOLET!
When the first AvP game for PC was announced. I had been hoping for such a game for quite some time, and suddenly it was being made.

Halo 2?

Maybe not...
DMC3,ZOE2 and Xenosaga 2.  Am I crazy?
1.MGS3 trailer released. I was so ecxited about it.

2.FFX announced. Being such a FF fan I was really ecxited.

3. XBOX 360 problems. To be honest I was glad the XBOX 360 pakets were glitched because I am a big Sony fan. The most upsetting thin was that Microsoft said it wasd normal that 50 % of the game consoles were glitched? A BIG NO for Microsoft.
Precursor
Mushihimesama getting ported to PS2.

I don't see how you can say that, you should want all the systems to do well so there is a strong competition.  No competition in the video game market would be horrible.
RE4 going to Ps2. Most likely not biggest but it was one hell of an unexpected move, since capcom repeated over and over that i would never happen.

Not exactly. Nintendo's rival back then was the Sega Master System. But they got crushed horribly.

Actually, if you were referring to the same press release that I read from Microsoft, they said it was normal for 3-5% of systems to have hardware failure... not 50% thank god.

1) Revolution controller; this seems to be the first positive step for virtual reality gaming.  I know, I know; this isn't really for virtual reality, but I believe virtual reality is where video games are eventually headed [please disregard all of our preconceived notions of what virtual reality is, since they (our notions) are based on past attempts which have all majorly disappointed], and this seems like a creative way to assimilate it into our conventional gaming market.  I'm not saying the system will succeed or fail, but I like the controller.

2)  Mario Brothers 4; too bad it was not for Revolution.

3)  EA purchasing the gawdamn rights to the friggin NFL.  I hate sports titles, but who the heck do they suppose they are???

4)  Microsoft buys Rareware; I was so depressed upon this bit of news, but they have really lowered their standards, anyway, despite that they did so for the conditions of a launch quota or for a demographic change.

5)  Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles; yeah, well, we all know how that became.  Honestly, though, if that's a step closer to Super Mario RPG 2, then fine by me.  I don't care who I have to screw, I want a damn sequel!
A Crab
I'd have to go with the Half-Life 2 and Twilight Princess announcements.  Half-Life 2 because it looked just incredible and it's a sequel to the awesome Half-Life.  Twilight Princess because I didn't like the stylistic direction they took with Windwaker, so I was thrilled when I saw it.

And to the person cheering at the few Xbox360 problems: I think the term "fanboy" was invented for people like you.  And no, that's not a complement.

why you say, not exactly, when your own everyone, its cause you are the master of this period of time.

just like windows crush anything

A friend of mine is selling his 360. He is really disappointed with it because his old Xbox games lagg like hell and just work for 15-20 seconds.

I just like to say this: Xbox 360 is the doom of Microsoft.

Though i know it isn´t.
Gotta love games
