Some of the other stuff I found a couple of days ago:

During the Homeless fire you can also break both stair triggers and go downstairs and upstairs whenever you want. Unfortunately the escape trigger upstairs isn't activated, so you can't use that to end the chapter early. Instead you just walk around in an OoB area.

Also in The Mission after you skip the cathedral cutscene there are, as already mentioned, multiple triggers preventing you from going through the cathedral early. Instead you have to enter the house and watch the flashback to make them go away. Since those triggers are again one directional (meaning they only trigger when you face the cathedral) I managed to get this far without activating it:

You simply walk through the trigger from the right side facing away from the cathedral, so it won't activate. Their triggers are always limited in height, but unfortunately this one is high enough to cover the entire area up there as well. You activate it as soon as you turn around, so this is useless for now.
Found an actually useful OoB in The Mission:

For how well scripted Beyond normally is, for some reason the OoB trigger there doesn't extend all the way to the right wall, so you can just walk right past it lol
Saves a couple of seconds to go directly to the Hotel.

I also managed to get the same OoB after hitting the area trigger that loads the next section of the level extending all the way up to the cathedral (not the cathedral itself though):

There are 3 triggers located after the 2 enemies right before the Hotel. The first one unloads some character models and activates an OoB trigger preventing you from going back. The second one unloads the beginning area of the level. The third one loads the next area (very fast, it loads everything in a couple of seconds). The third one is pretty big and every trigger also carries out the tasks of the previous one. So while you can skip the first two with the cover glitch, the third one will still trigger unloading the previous area and loading the next one.

To break the first OoB trigger I possess the soldier which teleports Jodie behind cover which fortunately happens to be behind the OoB trigger. You need to skip the fight to make this possible. I use the cover glitch in the beginning of the video to skip a trigger that not only plays a small cutscene, but also takes away the cover prompts of the next area, that are necessary to skip the fight. Using the cover glitch again you can skip the detection trigger that is placed over the enemies.

The problem is, the soldiers actually have some form of AI and can "see" you, which also triggers the fight. This can't be prevented using Aiden mode, as it is not a trigger. However, as long as you are into cover these particular guys are blind to your existence. So you have to stay in cover behind the dumpster or they will see you immediately. I move to the next cover, which is fast enough to escape their visibility check. Once I'm out of sight and activated the 3 triggers to load the next area I let go of X (which is why I switched to hard difficulty) and immediately go back behind the dumpster (where they can't see you). This is important, as Jodie won't teleport behind the cover if you are too far away or already in cover (distance doesn't matter then).

After I teleported behind the first OoB trigger I go back and there is another OoB trigger preventing you from going back to the beginning of the level. I use a variation of the cover glitch I just recently discovered. It allows you to walk around a corner quickly while in Aiden mode. It gets you far enough in some instances to break an OoB trigger. You simply hold the left stick right and press X first and then immediately triangle (the timing is different than normal cover glitch).

Now I'm back in the beginning area where a lot of stuff is already unloaded. Unfortunately this doesn't include the final OoB trigger that would probably allow us to go directly somewhere close to the cathedral. You can't walk around it as the collisions of the building are still intact as well. In other spots you will simply fall under the map. You can clip into the air and the invisible house somewhat using the wooden pallet, but unfortunately the trigger seems to extend into the air too. Maybe you can clip high enough to get over it I dunno.

However, you can go OoB to the other side using the same method as the first video showed. You can go further now since more of the level is loaded. Navigating the OoB area gets you close to the cathedral and the next area trigger we need to hit (that loads the cathedral). This would skip the Hotel section completely and it looks like the scripting would allow it (Aiden prompts are already activated although they are unreachable). Unfortunately there is no way to get back in bounds at that spot, since for whatever reason the area is completely sealed off with objects that all have collisions (even though the player can't go there because of OoB triggers). At the end of the video I show a small alleyway that would likely lead us back in bounds, but an invisible wall prevents you from reaching it.

Even if it would work, this OoB (in the current form at least) is probably slower than just doing it normally. Maybe a faster way can be found.
Managed to access the entire Navajo desert early on the horse (I'm talking to the TheThrillness in the video, but I'm muted on stream, so that's why you only hear him)

Got it first try by accident lol In some cases you are able to prevent the game from teleporting you back to Jay and you get outside of his trigger and can free roam the entire desert. I got pretty excited to say the least, but unfortunately nothing useful is activated. The dialogue trigger for the tree works (where Jodie talks about seeing it in her visions) and an oob trigger before the tree as well where Jodie turns around and says you have to find the tree. But the prompt to get off the horse is not activated. Same for the fort area. All the area triggers work though and you can access the entire desert no problem. You are even able to get in front of Jay or make him fall off the map by unloading/reloading the area he is in, which essentially softlocks you, since he never reaches the sheep area.

So this seems pretty hopeless tbh.
I'm going to try to do a segmented run. Anyone who wants to join in can pm me their email to get added to the google doc.
Deal with it!
Actually got back to this since this hasnt been finished yet.
I think I figured out how the Cutscene skip at the end of "Alone" works. You have to choke him just before the cutscene where you dont choke him would start and beoth scenes kinda cancel each other out. Then you skip instantly to the Navajo loading screen.

I went back to this game a few weeks ago, since I definitely have unfinished business with it. I got so busy with school I could only focus on Twilight Princess for a while and neither do a RTA run or work on any segments. Now it's a bit better, so I will see what I can do. I'm going through every chapter trying to optimize everything as best I can, figuring out which difficulty is faster and making detailed notes in the process. I'm up to Dragon's Hideout now and so far the results look promising. Found quite a lot of small optimizations and timesavers that probably amount to a few minutes overall.

Even found some new chapter exclusive glitches. Here is one of them, which cuts the Dinner scene down by like 20 seconds. Using the Aiden prompts in this order relatively fast screws the game up and the scene ends very quickly (pay attention to the flying remote lol):

After I'm done I will release my notes and try to do a good RTA run that will show everything off as as start.

So interesting day for this game. Hamers did a new run: http://www.speedrun.com/run/0y69560y

5:04:35!

Also 2 new skips that are hard: and

They make the sub 5 possible.

I was thinking about this and came up with an idea. PS4 version allows us to play the game chrono order. This is actually the best way to speedrun the game cause it allows you to reach the mission faster (about an hour and a half faster). This means you won't lose a ridiculous amount of time from trying the skips and can reset more easily.

Uploaded my run to YouTube now as well:

All my notes can be found here: http://pastebin.com/EaxMNVi6
This run uses a lot of timesaves I discovered during this month. Here is the rundown:

General:

-We start the run on Hard mode. Early dog fight fail in Hunted and especially the Entity chase in Navajo are the biggest reasons why. On Easy mode you can't fail that scene early, which looses over a minute compared to Hard
-PSN digital version and/or PS4 version have way superior loading times (e.g. 15-20 seconds saved on Condenser chapter)

The Party:

-Faster to move Matt's hands than hugging him (O instead of X). Saves about 2-3 seconds

Welcome to the CIA:

-You can abort the cover2cover animation during the weapon training and go straight to the next cover spot. Saves 1 second

Hunted:

-6 fully finished interactions in the train initiate the slowdown early. The game checks how many you did every time the loop completes (the environment outside constantly repeats and after each loop it checks). The fadeout after the slowdown only happens instantly when no action is running anymore (an action is still considered running when the passenger is still in the react to animation). Thus the fastest way to make the train stop is to shiver Jodie, shiver the passenger on the opposite side, push his bag, mess with the monitor on the ceiling, then push the wagon and the trolley near the woman. This is the fastest combination of quick completing interactions possible. Saves about 20 seconds

-You can dodge both cops on the train roof. Its very hard and based on her animation cycle, so that's pretty much RNG

-There is a trigger during the forest chase which would trigger the dog fight immediately, but we can't reach it in time since the timer has been halfed compared to the E3 2012 demo of Hunted. Waiting it out is fine, but make sure to not hit any turnaround cutscenes as those pause the timer

-Hold L2 to break the motorcycle as fast as possible after the chopper cutscene. The 10 second timer only starts once the bike comes to a full stop. Saves 1 second over doing no input

-Instead of possessing the SWAT guy, blast the tires of the truck. Saves about 10 seconds

My imaginary Friend:

-Going into every of the 4 rooms on the 1st floor and triggering Phillip's dialog "Please Jodie I'm working" ends the timer immediately and plays the cs where Susan asks you to get oil. Even with having to go downstairs again, this saves 50 seconds over waiting out the timer near the garage. Also kills a boring waiting around segment of the run

-You can transform to Aiden very early to choke the boy

The Condenser:

-Already mentioned: Flying ahead with Aiden to repair the elevator instead of trying to call it is way faster. You walk the rest of the distance with Jodie while the elevator is coming up

-Unlocking the door in the corridor teleports Jodie to a set spot, so going as early as possible with Aiden is faster

-Same with the fire extinguisher

-You can game the extinguishing part by swaying the stick rapidly left to right and back. Saves 5-7 seconds

Homeless:

-Fastest items to attract Stan are: shopping cart, big trashbin, shivering Stan. Saves 5 seconds or so

-Instead of helping Tuesday, do nothing after standing up after dinner. Jodie will go to bed automatically after 50 seconds, which is 3 seconds faster than helping Tuesday

-Security gate, camera and door is the fastest order to do the super market. Saves 10 seconds

Alone:

-After making Jodie fall asleep, fly backwards/right into the bathroom and back to instantly trigger the entity fight. Saves 5 seconds

-Ringing the telephone is way faster than pushing Cole's chair. Saves 5-7 seconds

Like other Girls:

-Destroying the right items fast enough allows you to skip one dialog line of Cole. Saves 10 seconds

Alone:

-Early ending glitch. Pull the sticks inside just a tiny amount, then let go of them and L1 at the same time. Saves just over 20 seconds

Navajo:

-Once the first car appears, walk back towards it and hold R1 as late as possible. Once the car passes you it will play a cutscene and teleport Jodie forward on the road. Saves 3 seconds

-Still ignore the second truck

-On the first night, instead of trying the door, unlock it as Aiden, then go back to bed on the left side. Saves 2 seconds

-Walk forward as fast as possible to startle Ashkii during the taming portion. Immediately turn back after the cutscene and tap X to give up. This saves about 40-50 seconds

-During the entity chase run forward a single step. For whatever reason this stunlocks Jodie and the entity will hit you 3 times in a row ending the fight super early. Saves 15 seconds

-Don't shield Jodie when she gets pulled up by the entity. Saves 3 seconds

-You don't need to repair the windmill at all. You can jog straight to the hut. Saves 5 seconds

The Dinner:

-No interaction will stop the Ryan or Aiden timer. So you can go ahead and waste time setting up the table, music, taking a shower, sitting on the bed, watching TV etc. This is a lot less boring than waiting. You only need to make sure to select pizza early on and answer Aiden's door prank at 19:25 as quickly as you can. Don't go outside as that will stop the timer. While Jodie has opened the door the timer is also stopped, so make sure to close it quickly as well. Apart from that you can do anything you want, of course make sure you are at the door in time for Ryan and that you clean up stuff and get dressed to skip cutscenes which do it for you

-We switch to Easy difficulty here for The Mission. Opening the wine is mashing X instead of rotating the stick which saves 1 second, so the switch is done in this chapter

-You can glitch out the Ryan/Jodie dialog by pushing the pillows as quickly as you can, then turn on the TV and finally blast the telephone. This saves 20-30 seconds

The Mission:

-Going OoB to the left early on also deactivates the cs trigger of the pickup in front of the Hotel, so it no longer needs to be skipped by jumping over cover

-Hotel skip linked above. Saves 1 minute, but very hard

-Its way faster to win the solo fight right after you find Salim, as Jodie will shoot the guy instead. Some mistakes are faster though animation wise. The current WR is optimal here

-Rooftop skip linked above. Saves close to another minute, but also very hard and you only have one shot at it

-You can fly ahead as Aiden to take out the pickup guys early. Saves 10 seconds

-If you fail every prompt during the pickup chase Jodie gives up during the first fight, which is way faster. Need to press the right directions carefully though, as the game is very lenient here and will make you succeed in 3/4 directions sometimes

-After Salim leaves you, you can use the cover glitch to skip taking out the final soldier. It also skips the cutscene where Jodie asks you to find cover. Saves 10 seconds

-In general and especially on Easy mode, its way faster to possess the soldier outside first, then walk into the building, grab the AK from the weapon stash and shoot Jamaal from there

Old Friends:

-Faster to ask about Experiments and then Military (which is unlocked by the former). Saves 1 second

Norah:

-At the end when you talk with Nathan you can ask 2 dialog options out of 3. If you don't ask about Norah Jodie will do so herself after you have done the other 2. So it's faster to ask about Norah on your own and then about Cole. Skips the CIA dialog and saves 20 seconds

Dragon's Hideout:

-As already mentioned, failing to shoot the approaching soldier in the hangar, then unlocking the gate with Aiden is a lot faster

-You don't need to interact with the submarine at all. Just disguise as the soldier straight away. Saves 15 seconds

-After you destroy the containment field it's faster to heal Ryan first and smash his door, as you can do so straight away without having to have him stand up (which Jodie does). You can also smash Jodie's door asap then, which triggers the same cutscene, but outside Ryan's room, which saves a little bit of movement later. Choking the soldier in the interrogation room is postponed after this cutscene. You can't fly into his room early on Easy mode after you watched the Ryan cutscene and during the escape scene later on, Easy mode will auto run for you thus making it impossible to fail the scene early on. So at this point we switch back to Hard difficulty and then choke the soldier before grabbing the C4. This still saves about 15 seconds

-After you place the C4 on the first tower, turn to the right to place the next one there instead. Saves 1 second in movement

-It's faster to fail some QTEs during the general fight scene like the sixaxis ones. However you want to succeed the final QTE, as otherwise the death cs of the general is 7 seconds longer with the Entity smashing him around the room a few times. The current WR is optimal here

-During the escape it's enough to just fail the running sections 3 times. It's faster to complete the 2 QTEs along the way, as failing them only wastes time

Black Sun:

-In Cole's office it's faster to mess with the bottle, the book in the shelf and finally the papers close to Ryan to get their attention. Messing with Cole is useless, you need to mess with Ryan 2 times to get his initial attention. Saves 20 seconds

-It's always faster to blast the windows than doing any of the other things while leading Ryan/Cole. Saves about 5 seconds

-We switch back to Easy one last time after entering the elevator towards the Black Sun, as the cover glitch skip there saves 50 seconds, thus the switch is well worth it. Switching earlier on is no good, as Aiden is actually slower during the segments where you have to lead Ryan/Cole on Easy mode (can't fly to the elevator early etc.)

In case I forget, Hamers is also watching PS4 streams and he said chrono order has no timeline loading, it's nearly instant. This obviously means chrono order is default the fastest (like an extra minute or 2 easily saved by this alone). A big plus as also discussed above about mission skips.
Congrats on finally beating my terrible run.

Just a thing: When I was routing the game for an improvement to my old run, I found that the game would consistently hang on Dragon's Hideout in a full game run. I could avoid this with a quit to menu and reload, but it did happen every time if I played it straight through. Was this a thing that you ran into, or was it just me?

A surprising amount of time saves even in this game. Nice work.

Ty a lot Cheesy Quite surprising how many timesavers were still hidden away deep in the game. I'm very happy that we skip the timer in My Imaginary Friend now and can do all activities during The Dinner without loosing any time. There is no forced waiting period anymore, which is just great and makes the run a lot more bearable.

When it comes to crashes, this particular one never happened to me. I can't speak for the disc version as I used the PS3 PSN Digital Version to do this run. It has superior loading times which probably saves around 60 seconds on its own (biggest one is Condenser where after you fail the outside Epilog area loads near instantly). I also played without saving enabled (risky I know) as it causes frequent brief lock ups for me, which waste time in a run. They actually might be the cause of your issues now that I think about it, considering both in The Mission and Dragon's Hideout it locks up for you shortly after an auto-save took place. Playing without saving might fix it lol

What's the nature of the hang up in Dragon's Hideout btw, as your run only has the softlock during The Mission? I know Wypy also did his runs without saving enabled, so it might just be the cause as I don't remember him having any such issues either. That being said, the game did hard crash a few times for me during chapter loading and seemingly randomly during a chapter once, but I was also playing with saving enabled afaik. So we should all play without to avoid these issues if it's the cause and also save some time on no lock ups. I also re-routed both parts were you used to crash cause the difficulty is Easy now for both of them, which makes an alternative path slightly faster for both. So maybe doing that instead of what you used to do fixed the crashes as well.

As for the PS4 version: Once you have fully downloaded it and all data is on the hard drive, it runs home with it in terms of loading times. Even faster than the PS3 Digital Version by quite a bit. Also as TheThrillness mentioned, playing on chronological will put The Mission about 1:40 hours earlier into the run, if you fancy attempting the hard 2x 1 minute skips. The framerate is also mostly locked at 30 it seems, which should save some time as well, as the original lags quite heavily sometimes. I have no PS4 yet, so I wasn't able to do any glitch testing so far, but from first observation it looks like they should all work. Easy mode is still in there and it makes switching cover just pressing X. So I'm fairly sure all glitches should work just fine.

Thanks man! Put quite a bit of effort into it for sure Smiley
Oh, yeah I watched my run, and apparently I had figured it out by that point. I do a quit/reload right after getting captured. The game would start taking a while to load things and start hitching from that point, eventually hanging forever at some point while running away from the sea monster. I assumed that it was some sort of resource leak that always happened because they didn't expect you to play through in one session like that.

It might actually be tied to autosaves. I don't think I tried without them.
Deal with it!
Nice work guys, glad to see this move forward. The softlocks really happened randomly to me, but was still somewhat rare. But in my opinion it mostly happens in longer chapters. I disabled saving and subtitles hoping to shorten the load times a bit with that. Never really tested if it does.
I persoally still want to find something big with OOB Aiden, but I had no luck yet finding something useful.

Yeah, that doesn't happen for me that it just starts to get worse and worse until complete hang. Maybe frequent auto-saving causes some kind of memory leak. As for loading stuff that's pretty normal in Dragon's Hideout. If you get caught early the game lags a lot behind in pre-loading stuff so some NPCs take way too long to appear. Just waiting it out always worked for me though. If you ever happen to play this game again definitely try without saving and report back. On PS4 at least these kind of issues should be all fixed. It looks very stable from the looks of things and saving only takes around 2 seconds vs. 10-15 on PS3. It also didn't cause any lock ups so far from what I watched.

Also, if you/I/we decide to continue with the segmented run, we can at least do the second The Mission skip that saves a minute quite easily, as the game autosaves literally right before it, so making a segment split there should work nicely. For the first skip you always have to replay about 3 minutes from the last save before you can try again for maybe 1-3 times before you would loose time doing it and needed to reset.

Subtitles probably don't do much as they still get loaded, but disabling saving certainly helps. I think it cuts down loading times a bit and also prevents random lock-ups. As for Aiden OoB, it looks quite hopeless as most of the time you are unbound there is nothing loaded ahead of time. However, one big exception might be Black Sun once Jodie gets captured. You are unbound the entire time during that long Aiden segment, so clipping through the door barrier at the beginning might allow us to leave Jodie's cell that way, fly backwards to the guard and bring Cole/Ryan down somehow by destroying some stuff. If that doesnt work, we can also perhaps break the barrier in Cole's office and probably call the elevator early, which would teleport Cole and Ryan over to it. The elevator prompt seems activated early, so that could actually work and save like 90 seconds.
Deal with it!
Yeah I'm hoping more on breaking the game than trying to activate triggers early with OoB, never giving up hope Tongue
Didn't know subtitles getting loaded even if you disable them. Haven't been able to try Black Sun yet, maybe when I have time I can try to test that chapter.
Currently don't have any time though, have a long absence from speedrunning due to work, girlfriend ect. Once in a while I can squeeze in a session.
