I run for fun :)
I just bought this game on XBLA and have to say it's an absolute delight. I haven't beat the game yet, but I'm already thinking about speed running it, if only casually. Besides the fact that I want to get some discussion going early before I try to speed run it, I'm posting this now to document an exploit I found (I searched a bunch of different keywords in Google and came up with nothing on it).
I found this while making a level: First, grab a movable blue block. Then jump the direction the block is facing- at the top of your jump, let go and grab on to the block while simultaneously jumping in the same direction. Had different rates of success when simple holding down the direction.
There is a different way to use these blocks to get higher that I found (which I also could not find on the internet), but it takes longer and works for a different reason I think. The method I described above is faster and works because of where the block is place when you let go of it because it snaps to the grid. If you drop in the right spot while moving into it, you will be partially inside the block, and basically standing on thin air.
I'm pretty sure I'm the first person to write about this online (don't I feel special?), but I'm not sure if it will useful in a run, as I haven't seen all the levels yet and I don't really remember height being an issue in cases where you have access to this block. Maybe I'm misremembering. Thoughts? And is there anybody out there doing a serious run of this game? If so, this might be some great info for them.
