HonorableJay, nice run. Unlucky with that bell. Does the batarang have to hit in a specific place or does the centre of the batarang have to pass through the rope? Do you find that particular spot a little easier with the movement keys on the PC? I'll give it a try when I get the chance.
The Dork Knight himself.
It seems like the actually hitbox to cut the rope starts just a bit under where it connects to the scaffold above the bell, which explains why it took me so many tries to actually cut it. As for the controls, that spot is a lot easier for PC controls but still not necessarily easy.

I've started updating the KB entry for this, and I need some help either with editing or just providing info for the pages.

Found this:

Tried this. Came close 2 times but didn't make it so I can't say if it is useful or not. Perhaps someone else can try and may find a use for it.

Found this too:

Useful battle strat at 3:30 and  at 5:33 there is an out of bounds glitch in the elevator. I've done it once but was forced to reset as I couldn't progress further. Even though you appear back with the Joker in the elevator cutscene, the guards at the bottom of the elevator don't appear to wheel him out. Not sure if it is limited to this elevator or can be used elsewhere.

Might not be useful at the moment but might give some ideas in other places.

I picked this game up about 3 weeks ago and had an idea for a sequence break. Right after you get the explosive gel from the batmobile, head up to the area where you usually exit from after getting the batclaw. The only thing stopping you from getting to the bat cave is the hole and the explosive gel wall. If you find a way to just spray the wall from the wrong side you could get to the batcave early. I guess you could even try and get to the mansion early and set a trigger for getting Doctor Young's notes. Then you could exit and go back up to Dead Man's Point and since you hit a trigger past getting the batclaw, it should activate the cutscene.

Reaver, yeah I tried both glitches just now. I can't get the gliding one but the elevator one is very easy. One possible idea is right at the start where you go down the mini lift. If you can step off JUST as it lowers you could potentially lower down out of bounds and follow along to the door you usually open after "Sharply Observed Portrait" and you might be able to skip all the intro.

Well I got OOB on the long elevator ride but even when I got into other areas I couldn't move past the front of the elevator door, and the guards didn't spawn after the choke cutscene. As for the very first elevator, I can't seem to get OOB with that one but I'll keep trying.

In other news, I can't batflap even with a macro, but I can do the Bat Stance Wink

That first video, the other week I spent an hour or so trying to clear that gap without the line launcher but never thought about hugging the wall that much to force a 2nd jump, i'll try and look into it more.

Shame that the elevator OoB seems rather useless, so it's still limiting you to walk speed and you can't pass joker, right?

Trying to do the roof jump to that balcony is so annoying, I nearly had it once but I can't even figure out a setup for it, if you do get batman to jump towards the right area he will still fall short so you have to somehow glitch glide along that wall, just can't seem to do it (pc and controller setup)
I've come very close to doing the trick in the 1st vid a few times. He makes it look easy but it seems quite difficult.

Found this out of bounds trick:

Not sure if you need the line launcher or if you can glide down to that spot from above, but what I was thinking was if you go OoB would throwing a remote batarang to the bell be easier? Might be worth a try if it is easy to get OoB there, but you guys seem to be consistent with the current method so it might not save anything in the long run.

I've seen quite a few glitches where they hook onto something with the grapnel and fly across the map. Was this an early bug that was fixed?
Arkham speed runner.
Walls seem to be solid from both sides so the batarang will not pass back in, the reason batman can clip is his climbing animation seems to ignore collision for that moment, there are a few other pointless areas where you can do the same thing, we just need to find good locations for doing so Tongue

Like in city, if you try to enter a door from the wrong side it will mess up room loading, i'm still messing about with it.
The Dork Knight himself.
Just remember that we still don't know how to force the game to give you a story weapon if you skip it, so OOB might not be worth it if we wind up skipping too much.

I have found a solid way to get back up to the ledge upon where you first leave the main facility of the game and reach the outside area, you need the line launcher and some jumping skill but you can get back up there.

Theory time! it's late and I will have to test before work in the morning but it might be possible to enter the main facility this way after the first visit to the gardens where you get the line launcher, and mess up some triggers. Since you would not be returning via the air vent which causes the cut scene to play of the thug being blown up by joker you ***might*** be able to head straight to the lifts and to croc, bypassing scarecrow 3.

It's all theory until I get some time to test it, I will also make a video in the morning about getting back up to that ledge, I should have time before work to do so.

To note this was all from messing around in a finished game file on pc, for all I know ivy could have some blocking vines up there like when she blocks access to the catacombs from the top enterance, but looking from far away in the past I have never seen any.
Arkham Speedrunner
So you might have found a way to get back in via the building where the Jack Ryder riddle is?

yeah that's the place.

I will make a quick video, I have work and woke up late so can't try a run Lips Sealed

Some flaws might be that entering from that location does not spawn the right moments of the game to progress, the blue energy door holding the switch box to croc's lair might still be locked, loading the cut scene might warp you up to the normal vent like some other cut scenes seem to do.
Arkham Speedrunner
Damn thats awesome! If it leads to a scarecrow 3 skip that would save another like 3-4 minutes
Heh, amateurs...
Did you try restarting at the last checkpoint? I noticed it was auto-saving
Magical. Flying. Bathtub
Oh man, I'm totally testing this when I get back in from my leaving do tonight.  Since the first point you could do that is immediately after Botanical Gardens anyway it has a lot of potential.
I just tested this ^ but Ivy's tentacles are blocking the door into the first open area (with the guards & first riddle). I tried restarting from a checkpoint to get out but then my game crashed.
Arkham speed runner.
Yeah I just found out myself, you can get in but ivy has her stupid plants in a doorway, if only we could clip through it somehow.

The AI seems to be patrolling only, I hit one with a remote batarang and no one was alerted, the thug get's up and keeps on walking.
The Dork Knight himself.
The other problem I was thinking with skipping nm3 is that there would be no trigger to send the elevator down the shaft so we could get to Killer Croc's lair. So even IF we find a way to get through those vines, the most it would do is possibly just skip having to actually fight the guards in Intensive Treatment. Maybe if someone can figure out how to load up the AA maps into UnrealED we could actually find the triggers for certain events.
Arkham speed runner.
Spent all night messing around with this and for sure those vines are too solid to somehow squeeze through, it's also impossible so far to get close to that ledge outside without the line launcher, even if you start glides from as high as possible the game will angle batman down enough so he never reaches it.

I'm still going to mess around with trying to get up to the ledge without aid even if it turns out to still be useless Tongue
The Dork Knight himself.
Well if you can get into Intensive Treatment early, it has to be after you've obtained the Crypto Sequencer so you can unlock the doors.
The Dork Knight himself.
Just got a 1:49 in today's race. Could've been lower, but I had a few weird mistakes

1. Fucked up Zsasz, hit Young's elbow instead
2. Don't know why, but Batman didn't det the gel trap when leaving Killer Croc's lair
3. Ivy fight was slow overall

There are a bunch of others, but those are the biggest mistakes.

Not to get hopes up but I am about (in terms of in-game height) an 1 foot ledge away from climbing up to the balcony section you come out of after turning off the pumps, if I can get batman somehow up that small step he can grab the ledge like with the other out of reach area we messed with last week, I tested that out by going up the normal way and grabbing the ledge while up there.

It might not do squat but who knows, always fun to try and break a favorite game like this.

*edit* I have found a way up there in my 100% save, trying it with my save which is straight after getting the line launcher to see what happens, however xbox live is having a fit and can't sign me in so my 360 is soft locking.
The Dork Knight himself.
I don't follow, you got a screenshot of the area you're referring to? What exactly would this climb skip?
Arkham speed runner.
I really should sleep as its half 3 so let me upload some video in the morning.

You know the area you come back out onto the island at after the lift lobby fight with the thugs and titan which smashes down the lift door, you can get up there the moment you get your hands on the line launcher now.

From one quick play through just now this is what I have tried to do without much of a result:

Went up there and broke the wall with gel, entered the door.
You can gel and break the walls you usually use the ultra batclaw on, you can also drop the lift by foaming it like normal, cut scene and all.
The lift door is present because no titan has broken through it, this is a dead end for batman gaining access to the pumps super early (in theory, pass this door early and skip scarecrow 3 and croc completely)
If you drop the lift early and play the game as normal, at the lift titan fight he is stuck in the fallen lift, you can only harm him with batarangs, since I am on hard mode it took ages so I had to stop.
I also tried activating scarecrow 3, backtracking and going up there early again, nothing changed.
Grabbing the ultra batclaw before heading to the pumps makes ivy's vines appear everywhere as blockades.

What I want to test tomorrow is going up to the top of the pump room lift early, break the walls but not drop the lift, continue playing and see if I can grapple up and skip the titan fight, can't see it saving time on easy but maybe on hard runs.
