I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
My First Speedrun has been Put up http://speeddemosarchive.com/BanjoTooie.html and I think its OK for a first run, but now its time for a harder challenge.  Ironicly, its the game before Banjo-Tooie, Banjo Kazooie.  Here are a few reasons why even with cheats.

There are cheats to open note doors 2 to 7, but there isnt a cheat to open note door 8, which costs a whopping 810 notes to get in. In Banjo Tooie, I only needed 505 notes.

Another reason is the worlds, if you enter in 2 cheats Grunty goes "Enter another cheat and I'll erase your game pack!"  That means I have a total of 2 "Door open" cheats, which I obviously did to open the last 2 levels, Click Clock Woods and Rusty Bucket Bay, and theres no cheat to open the last door that leads to the boss.  With this, I must collect at least, 67 Jiggies in order to get to the boss.

Hell if I could, Id just use all the cheats and open up all the doors and just run to the last boss from Treasure Trove Cove, and beat the game with only 4 jiggies (1 to open up Mumbos Mountain, 2 to Open up Treasure Trove Cove, and the Jiggy thats required to get before you can open cheats), but thats not going to happen...

My stradegy is in each level is to just go fast at first.  Since theres notes arond the Jiggies, and the levels get harder each level, so Id probably only collect the jiggies from the earliest levels but skip the ones that are the hardest to get in the level and dont have many notes around them.   After I have a total of 67 (25 in my inventory), I'll just run around collecting as many notes as possible.

Any suggestions tips or tricks? Id love to hear them.

Above all else, I think you should try a test run without major planning first.

Given you're going to get most of the notes, and most of the Jiggies, and spend a decent about of time entering codes, I fancy this run won't have a great deal on the 100% run - certainly there's not much you can do by way of altering strategy.

I actually tried this already, I got about 2 hours and 10 minutes, but I know i can get lower.
hi
:O BT is up? *downloading now at the amazing speed of 21 kbps...*

anyways good luck with this, but yea it's not gonna be much faster than the 100% run

interesting that you can use some cheats though, I forgot that jiggies don't keep adding up like in BT and as the notes do
Nice time! Goodluck with this run.

Edit: Er... sorry. Missed the "Kazooie" part.

haha its alright :p
I like this site name cause it's easy to remember.
This sounds like a good idea. About it being not much faster: true, but if you compare it to the cheatless low% run, it's going to be very noticeably faster. Good luck!

What notes / jiggies are you going to skip?
I personally would cut out almost all of Click Clock Woods, but who knows what's faster.
Take This! Ultra Frisbee-Disk Attack!
Only testing it out with an array of different paths would give a good idea on which path is fastest.

Yeah, same.

You need 810 notes to get into the final note door, so let's say you got all the notes elsewhere - you'd then only need to get ten notes out of CCW, and you can do that in about thirty seconds.

Problem is, given you'll be skipping 33 Jiggies throughout the game, chances are you won't pick up every single note. If I were you, the first thing I'd be looking to cut out is any Jiggy that involves a transformation - obviously skipping the pumpkin is out of the question but the others would only result in minimal loss.

BTW, I seem to recall a cheat for note door 8... and nine, too, which makes no sense. I might chase that up.

I just figured out something, I can actually enter THREE cheats. The only problem is that Grunty will say that my game pack will be erased, but you can keep playing the game. But if you quit the game then the file youentered 3 cheats on is empty.

After 3 "open level" cheats, I tried to enter a 4th cheat, but it wouldnt let me enter anymore cheats after that.
Yes, a bunny riding a towel
rofl, I've never heard of cheats erasing game saves before.
I'm glad there's finally a new thread which I can relate to...
If I get inspired i'll do a bit of investigating on this and try to help out...
I'll also take this chance to ask you guys opinion on something.
OK, so I actually have still got my 100% Run 2:48.22 But some of it is really hard to watch cause its just soo bad, but most parts are completely mistakeless. I also did another one which is, I think 40 seconds slower but a lot more consistent. But I think I stuffed up like, the best trick in the whole run. I'd like to do a new one which is consistent and good but i'm just way too out of form and uninspired atm, so, should I send in the 2:48.22? Keeping in mind if I ever wanted to improve it I oculd prolly only take off another 3 - 4 mins...
Sure, send it in, if you aren't going to try and improve it for a long while.
welcome to the machine

Does this mean you can't view your time at the end of the game?

I'm thinking just before I deliver the final egg to the Jinjonator, I'll pause the game and show everyone my times.

Oh god, I just got totally screwed, let me explain...

I entered in 3 of the level opening cheats and I kept playing the game after grunty said my game pack was erased.  So I did a practice run with that and did pretty good, and then I got to furnace fun.  I beat furnace fun, and the long credits cutscene was going, and then it ended and I was back in the room.

I saw Grunty was STILL in front of me, even though the previous cut scene showed her running out. And I could walk through her. Tooty and the otehr prizes were still there too. I could go right through them too. I then realized the only move I had was jump. So I decided to go upstairs to the last room and i went in front of the 810 note door, nothing happened. I paused the game, and ALL of my items were gone. All my jiggies, all my notes, eggs and everything. I checked view totals, and it said I havent even been to the other worlds.  Meaning only one thing: The Erase Sequence took place during the cutscene, which isnt supposed to happen, but thanks to the programmers totally forgetting about that, it did.

Now im back up to only 2 level opener cheats. Sad

That's weird.

Did you try saving before Furnace Fun? If you're "lucky", it might only erase your current status and not your savedata.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
O_o Your game data can actually get erased like that? I always thought it was funny when they said they were going to erase your data, byt I never thought they would actually clear your files...
