My friend Tim put together a collage of responses he got from BSing in WC3, it's pretty funny:

*MAY BE OFFENSIVE*

Thread title:
REALLY REALLY not funny and stupid...
Speed is the key.
I find it pretty amusing to see what replies some people can come up with.

Your friend is a hideous douchebag.  I never understood why people go out of their way to ruin other peoples' fun in games. ESPECIALLY when they are on ladder.

People like that are the reason I don't play Online games. Kick him in the groin for me.
welcome to the machine
Your friend is someone I never want to meet or hear about again.  Ever.
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
Perverse pleasure in hurtful deviation from social norms is actually more or less the clinical definition of psychopath personality. Not the virtual backstabbing so much as enjoying people's angry responses, so much so as to create a collage of responses. I'm not making the comparison, but taken to an extreme, you could say it's like rapists getting off by seeing the discomfort of their victims.

I understand some people don't get the art of backstabbing, but I run a backstabbing clan which is lots of fun.  We play the game to have fun and goof off.  Like getting a panda and delivering presents to the enemies (we call that Santa Panda).
Speed is the key.
I just don´t see the fun in ruining the game for other players.

Im just showing you why it's fun for them to do that.
Because it's funny to see the replys some people come up with.
Yeah, I said it.
Backstabbers suck.

But those replies were hilarious. Battle.netters can be such idiots.

You could have said that.  Wink

And the only way to get such replies is to make something stupid, and i think that´s wrong.

And for the times when you aren't with your clan, you should realise that backstabbing is retarded.  You are effectively ruining the game for many people just so that you can enjoy it a bit more.  I can understand doing this if everyone is in on it and there is nothing to seriously lose, but when you go into public ladder games and do this kind of crap, it's just retarded.

Also, aren't BNet admins starting to get pissed off about this.  Last I heard, if you get caught doing this stuff in a ladder match, you can have your CDkey blocked.

Nah, Blizzard knows me VERY WELL.  I had a chat with a Blizz rep and he said BSers are unpopular but he can't ban me for BS'ing, but he said if I make a clan where the emembers BS he would ban it and my account (not sure about account).  I used to be fairly popular in WC3 about 6 months ago, when I was chieftain of the infamous clan Poco that housed such greats as Irsic, RiceTheBackstab, Mugaro, etc.

And ladder is the only way to go, we love ruining accounts not because we don't want people to have fun, but we want them to just enjoy the game for it's chaos, not a number next to your name.

You do realise, then, that you are forcing your beliefs on others?  Just because you feel that a game should be played in one manner doesn't mean that you are right and that they are wrong.
The BaldurManiac
When I used to play i wouldn't give a damn what people said to me. seriously, if it hurt your feelings there's something wrong  :-/

It's vice versa when people tell me how to play because they are afraid I might harm their precious numbers.  If they care about their account they can 1v1 or AT.

More power to the admins then.

I used to play Warcraft 2 online (didn't play Warcraft 3 online because I was at a school that didn't allow online play). Anyways, sometimes I would start up newb compstomps just to kick the crap out of bsers (because they always show up there). They really are the weakest and most gullible of all players besides newbs. And then they only focus on building up their base, and by the time they realize I have 150 dragons, it's to late to leave the game without losing! Oh, it's so much fun to hear them pathetically curse me out as I burn their base. Feels like justice.
One time the compstomp was 5 players. Me and 3 others were coincidentally there to kill bsers (they were good too), and coincidentally the remaining guy was a bser. Ah, felt great.
Btw, I do not share your same sentiments with backstabbing, dratsab. Roll Eyes

Edit: when the hell's the last time a bser wanted to 1vs1?

No it's not. The whole point of Ladder matches is FOR the numbers. If you simply wanted to have fun then you'd stay away from ladder entirely.

I honestly don't care how you choose to justify it. Hitler justified his actions too, does that make him any less right? (Hitler being used as an extreme example, I am not comparing BSers to Hitler)

Not quite.  Normal players don't enter 'backstabbing OK' matches and play their way against the wishes of others.  Backstabbers, however, go into normal matches and play their way, despite the desires of the people who made/play those normal games.  The ladder is there to allow people to play the game competetively.  Therefore, backstabbing is an intrusion on competition.  "Their precious numbers" are the equivalent to their placement based on performance.  Those who backstab throw off peoples' ranks, therefore undermining the very idea of ladder placement reflecting gaming ability.  While I hate to compare video games to sports or anything, backstabbing is essentially the same thing as a quarterback throwing interceptions every time they get the ball just because they like to shake up the game and see the looks their team mates give them.  It's not fun for anyone but the people who are causing all this trouble for everyone else.  The difference here would be that a football team could fire that QB and that would be the end of that.  Bnet players can't really do anything about backstabbers, so the only thing that they can do is hope that people won't be douchebags and let them play the game the way that they are expected to play.

Granted, you can play the game however you want to play it, and no one can change that.  I'm not going to debate morals or anything here, but anyone can see that you are ruining peoples' game experience for your own pleasure.  They probably won't stop playing just because of one or two bad run ins, but eventually people will simply give up if they log in expecting serious players, only to lose because some random player thinks it's fun to screw people over unexpectedly.

Well, it's only fair to post an example of how I BS:

http://www.replayers.com/?action=view&id=42170

I used to be rank #13 in AT, granted it was 4v4 AT, but I have some skills at wc3 nontheless, I think our record was 28-5 or so.
...dude, that is not right. If you want to backstab do it in non-ladder games.

Hey. Do you mean clan Pojo? I was in that when it first started, but I didn't stay long (Gognitti, if anybody remembers me).

Anyway, I approve of adding some fun to the game through crazy tactics...even in ladder matches, but backstabbing is just wrong any way you put it (especially in random team games).
