I started working on this, and I see a lot of potential with running this game.

I've been learning Any% 2. By this I mean it's any% (beating all levels and specter), and then catching all the monkeys and beating specter again for the second ending (the ending's not really much better, but seeing as how it has its own requirements and it's a different ending it would be its own category). Getting 100% in this game requires getting all monkeys, as well as buying all collectibles in the shops and getting gold rank in all the time attacks (this is what the game labels as 100%), so...no thanks lol.

There would be probably five categories for this game:

Any% 1 (Clear all levels, Beat Specter)
Any% 2 (Clear all levels, catch all monkeys, Beat Specter)
100% (Catch all monkeys, buy all collectibles from the shops [CD's, Movies, Photos, etc], Get gold ranking on all levels in time attack, Beat Specter)
IL Table for Time Attack Mode
Survival Mode

Anyways, I've spent the past few days making a route for this run, and today I was able to get a decently clean run that should help give an idea of what would be a good time to go for. Final Time after catching Specter a second time was 3:32:16. I went through each level and made what I think is probably the best route for both the first visit and the second visit (second visit is important since you want whatever leftover monkeys to catch to all be near the break room of that level, while also keeping in mind where you could use your new forms or items to save you time compared to doing the monkeys on the first visit).

I've already found some tricks of my own that are pretty useful (using the slingshot to destroy some racer cars before they move is a really notable timesaver), though since I'm the only person who has done speedrunning of this, there's sure to be more tricks to find. I saw a video on youtube where you can walk on water, but it didn't show how it got to that point. Hopefully I can find a way to make use of that, since I could then super hoop on top of water and save some time (Eversummer Island comes to mind).

Alas, there is one thing that makes running this difficult: The Monkeys. Everytime you try and catch a monkey, you go against RNG and whether you'll catch it or not. You're pretty much flipping a coin for every swing you make at a monkey, and with 434 monkeys, that's a lot of luck involved (though obviously stunning it increases the odds of it getting caught, though they can dodge your stun club as well). I was talking to Flicky a little about this, and I'm a little afraid of SDA never accepting a run of this because what appears to be sloppy play with missing monkeys is really just bad luck that couldn't be helped. It's not really gonna stop me from running this, but I felt the need to share my concerns in hopes that after seeing my run, some understanding can be had about how bad monkeys can be sometimes.

I've always been interested in doing this run but with getting the 8 extra monkeys that you obtain through passwords, since it's more content and more to watch, but I'm not sure if SDA would allow that since it requires passwords to do.

Anyways, I'm rambling. Here's my run, hope you enjoy it:

Good luck with this Surreal. Lookin good so far! <3
$15 per rant/allegory
So I was thinking about this last night before I went to bed. It's obvious that suits are way better at catching monkeys than not suits. So, what I think we need to figure out is a method for deciding when to suit and when not to. I'm specifically thinking Ninja suit here because of the run speed (it's at least close to dash hoop).

This is what I propose - You need to figure out all about the suit gauge. How long it lasts, how long it takes to recharge and whether it recharges to full when you finish a level. After that, we can look at levels where the gauge is never needed to progress and look at places where it would be worth using the gauge to catch a bunch of monkeys. They can't dodge the suit capture (although it can miss) and so you'll avoid the bullshit RNG. So what I'm saying is, we really need to optimise the suit usage once the route is down. I think it will not only be faster, but will make the game a lot less painful for you to run.

You beat me to making this thread, and you forgot survival mode (I got a totally unplanned 2:42 on that).  The fact that you took 17 more minutes to get everything than it took me to get through Specter the first time (even if I didn't plan anything) is pretty impressive.  (Your 3:30 second Specter vs. my unplanned 3:13 first Specter)

The morph lasts 30 seconds, every small thing you collect boosts it by 3 seconds.  Outside of a morph it adds 10% to it.  The increase in time I believe is a rate of one second per second, although I may be wrong on this.  Also, I have seen monkeys dodge a morph capture before, although I'd put the chance at somewhere around 1% as opposed to 75%+ for the later monkeys.  When you end a level any morph stock that's empty stays empty, any that's full stays full and the morph 'base' refills.

Would you mind typing up what you have for a route?  I'm interested in seeing it without having to watch a 3 and a half hour video and take notes on it.

Thank you. =] Every little bit of support is a good motivator for me.

I'll figure out some of these later and edit this. As I have no name said, forms are 30 seconds long and the crystals give 3 more seconds per crystal if you're in the form. Once you get 5 (I think) quickly, all other crystals nearby will become full tanks, which refills your time remaining to 30 automatically and fills a crystal. I think it takes 20 seconds for the bar to refill normally, but if you go into the fetal position (L3 and R3), your bar recovers twice as fast, or 10 seconds. Also, the bar auto refills over time, but only until it fills up the current bar. If you have empty reserve crystals on the side, it won't fill up the next meter you have until you "start it off" by grabbing a crystal while the one you have currently is full.

Also, I agree on needing to find a suit route, though there will be some situations where improvisation will have to be had, since there are random factors such as enemy or miniboss drops that can give me more or less crystals, so I won't always have the same amount going to certain areas. Another thing is if you mess up and fall into a pit or water, you automatically lose your form. Sometimes it's faster to use up another meter to try again with the form, but it could possibly mess with the route for when you need to morph later.

In my newest route I make a little bit more use of the genie form, notably in some break rooms as the dance move makes catching a group of monkeys much quicker and simpler. I can't do it in every room since that would require two or three bars (one for monkey suit, one for genie, and possibly one for a morph to travel faster after I leave the break room and get other monkeys). It's vital to use him in the break rooms with lots of enemies in them, since you can kill them all quickly while the boogie is going and get enough crystals to get a ton of full tanks and end up with 4 or 5 more full meters than you started with entering the room.

I'll add survival mode to the top post.

This is my route (forgive me for not using monkey names, I don't remember all of them lol). I'll say what monkeys are remaining (besides the obvious break room ones), and possibly why I chose to leave them remaining:

MR: Monkeys Remaining
BR: Break Room

Seaside resort: first monkey in front of you, second monkey by the van, ignore the monkey drinking coffee (I get him second visit since he's near the break room), get the bride and groom monkey. MR: Coffee monkey near BR, one hanging on helicopter (need slingshot), and one inside the church.

Monkey Forest: Get the monkey hiding in the tree, go to the house area, catch the wolf, the monkey in the crate, and in the well, then enter the house. Catch the three inside there. MR: One further into forest at the beginning (closer to BR and further from the house so he's better for 2nd visit), little red riding hood monkey and the one with her.

Saru-mon's Castle: Catch first monkey near the spinner that opens gate, catch the two monkeys inside the "basement" area, don't bother hitting the switch to turn off the flamethrower since I don't go back there, I don't get the money in the chests here since there are quicker sections to get just as much or more money. Once outside, go hit the switch to unlock the door for my second visit, go back to fountain area. I ignore the blue pants monkey in the shrubbery section since of the two monkeys near the break room, he's harder to catch without morph forms, so I get him second visit while in morph. Get the knight monkey, enter castle, get the princess monkey. Go to the ballroom, catch the two monkeys there, and then the king. Monkeys remaining: Blue pants monkey near break room, and one hanging on chandelier (need slingshot so it has to be on second visit).

The Big City: Hula hoop to the car, ignore the blue pants monkey right in the beginning. On the way to the car one should pass you. I hit it with the hoop as it passes to get a free hit before I can get to the car. I get in the car and drive opposite direction to get both monkey cars (I think it might be faster to go backwards, though not entirely sure). Depending on what I'm closest to after getting the two monkeys, I'll either go to the stadium, the bank, or the super man monkey (usually stadium or superman). I found a strat in the stadium, where if you let the monkeys take the club or net off you, if they're closeby, all the monkeys will run after it, and you can use the knight to catch multiple at once. However this is completely luck based as sometimes by the time one will even get mad and hit it off you, the monkeys could be nowhere near each other. I think it's just something you can make use of if it happens, but it's not reliable to depend on it as a strat. Anyways, I get the monkeys in the stadium, the three in the bank, and superman. MR: Blue pants by rail cars (having the flyer 2nd time around is much quicker than riding the rail cars to him), monkey at the crash site in the basketball court (he's not there 1st time), blue pants at start, and the showtunes monkey (in the theatre).

Specter TV Studio: I ignore the monkey in the beginning, for reasons I'll explain later. I go forward into the room with the Grease monkey, Ukkipuss. From there I go along and catch all the monkeys until I get back into the main room. I grab the yellow monkey "climbing" the buildings since he's on my way, but I ignore the monkey in that room riding the enemy below since it's a big detour to climb back up (he's the last monkey on 2nd visit and he's near the BR as well). From here I go to the exercise commercial room, and get the three monkeys there. I go into the space room and ignore those monkeys, and go hit the switch for the other door. I get the first monkey that I avoided, and he's the last monkey. I get him last so that I can hit the switch, so the revisit goes much faster as I can just go right into the space room from the start. MR: Space room monkeys, monkey riding enemy

Bootown: Pretty simple. I just catch every single monkey that's available going forward, so the only two remaining are the ones near the breakroom (shower monkey and "possessed" monkey). Seeing as how future items don't really help with any monkeys in this level, I choose to have the last two as my 2nd visit, so that I can use my forms to full effect next time I'm there.

Wild West Town: Grab the two at the start, enter the bar. Grab the 3 in there. I ignore the monkey behind the falling barrels and get him next visit, though there are other monkeys you could choose to avoid instead. I grab the two monkeys in the station area (one in the station, and the other on the tower). I get on the train and grab all the monkeys on the train. The one that gets shot out of the train and is covered in coal is the last monkey. MR: Monkey behind falling barrels, the three monkeys in the room by the BR after train. I do those three for 2nd because they're near the BR, and because with second visit I can skip having to lower the bridge, by just using the flyer to get to that area from the "exit" route it gives.

The Hot Springs: I get the two at the start, enter sauna. Get the monkey in the "box" and the one on the wall, the other two in that room I can't get without flyer or ninja form. I activate the switch to lower the water, get the three monkeys on the lower section and ignore the monkey in the pool on top (since there's a door up there that goes right next to the BR, I go up there and grab the monkey on the way to it). I go into the river area, and grab all the monkeys there. Back in the main area, I go into the cave, grab the three monkeys in there, last monkey being the one next to the break room. It's better to get this monkey than the one I mentioned earlier since the one in the pool has a detour to go back after you catch him, and he's on the way anyways in the 2nd visit. MR: Pool monkey, two sauna monkeys.

Winterville: I grab the blue pants monkey past the snowman monkey (it doesn't matter which of these you get), then go to the house to the rightwards path from the blue pants monkey and catch the one in there. From there I go up the hills, ignoring the monkeys on the houses shoveling snow and the snowman monkey, and from here on out catch all the monkeys. Get the two by the statues, then the three in the igloo section, then the one in the mech suit, then go into the festival area. I get the mask shop monkey first, then the old man monkey since his stairs are right near the mask shop, then get the last three monkeys at the drums. MR: Snowman monkey, and two on the rooftops, all near breakroom.

The Emperor's Castle: I usually buy an extra crystal before this level or Winterville, as this is where it becomes useful to have a second bar available. Most of the money I got up to this point was from the elephant in bootown or just scattered along the way. Anywho, I ignore the first three monkeys you come across at the beginning, as this lets me catch all the monkeys in the final areas by the BR. If I got the ones near the BR 2nd visit, I'd have to take detours to get to them to get back to the BR. I would also have to use an extra morph to go into ninja after the BR if I did BR first in that section. Anyways, ignore first three monkeys, grab all of the rest, with the last two being master pan and his geisha. MR: The three at the start

Mount Amazing: I get the first monkey under the waterfall, and from where he's at I can use the flyer to get up the mountain faster in an unintended way (you have to see it since idk how to explain it lol). I get the two on the way up (in the tent and on the wall). I get the two across the falling bridge, and then ignore the UFO monkey (fight him next visit), get the two near the flying rock thing. I get the first angel monkey, ignore the second one on the bottom section since I'll have a morph next time and he's much easier to catch with morph. I use move a tiny bit later though (when I get to the first flying monkey), and go into ninja, catch the two flying and the one on top, then go into the star dome, catch the first monkey on ground floor, and your morph should be just about finished. Then hit the switch and get the centaur monkey last. MR: UFO Monkey, angel monkey after first one you see in that area going left, and the monkey in the isolated section that you usually go down the stairs to get to (I double jump over the fence and airdash to him with cyber ace 2nd visit)

Toytown: Get the first monkey near fountain, grab the bunny monkey near easter room (ignore blue pants nearby), once in easter room morph to ninja, and hit the switch to open up area behind, get the five monkeys in there and exit. I then go into the racetrack. I kill the first monkey car from starting point with slingshot. Some monkeys don't start driving until you get close enough, so I take advantage of this and destroy his car from the start, so I won't have to chase him while in the car. From here, the second car should just be passing by, and I ride to the firetruck on top, hitting any cars that I can along the way. I get the monkey near the van, and the one on the rooftop via firetruck. Go back down and catch the last two car monkeys. MR: Blue pants in hub area, monkeys in toy blocks section, monkeys in mech suit section, and monkeys in the cave/cowboy duel area.

Arctic Wonderland: Grab all monkeys on the way to the tree, except for the one on the opposite side of the Bananic ship at the start (he's on the way to the sled that takes me to the tree instantly so he's 2nd visit). I pretty much just get every monkey on the way. I get some money from the mammoth miniboss. MR: Monkey by sled by ship

Mirage Town: I think this level might need some improvement with routing, but I'm not entirely sure. I get all the monkeys up to the pyramid, unlock the pyramid. I get the first monkey in the pyramid area (Nijel), then exit the pyramid. From here I go into the town square and catch all the monkeys, catch cup-o'-mon, then genghis mon in front of the palace. Get the monkeys in the palace, and the princess at top is the last monkey. I decided to do pyramid 2nd visit since cyber ace can do it a lot quicker than first visit can (notably you can skip hitting those two spinners by just air dashing over the pit), although it may be faster to do pyramid first, then just do the last palace monkeys after the BR on 2nd visit. MR: Monkeys in the pyramid area

Eversummer Island: I ignore the crab monkey at the start, so that I can raise all the bridge sections before catching the last monkey. I go into the boxing ring area and catch all the monkeys in there. I don't hit the button to open the door since there's no need to. I go out and raise second bridge section, catch the two monkeys around there, then go to the switch to raise the ground on the other side of the bridge, shoot down the monkey on the ship part and catch him, then go into the jungle area, catch all monkeys going through there, then raise last bridge section. I go into the temple and hit the button by the last monkey to get a ton of money, then get last monkey. MR:Monkeys in the temple. I get them all in there and then exit through the back right near the two monkeys on the rafts for 2nd visit.

Airplane Squadron: I need to only get one monkey in this first area, so I choose the one you need ninja for, since I'll be using cyber ace next visit, and I can make use of the leftover ninja form for this visit. I thus ignore the monkey in the plane, and the one on the plane wing. I then go into the plane and ignore the one near the BR, go up to command room and get that monkey with genie. I keep genie to make getting the prince and bunny monkey easier, then kill the slot machines for money. From there I go and get all the remaining monkeys going forward, with the last monkey being the one in the hamster wheel. MR: Two in beginning area, monkey near BR

Kung-Fu Alley: I ignore the monkey behind the bars and grab the three where you use fighter form. In the next area I ignore the next four monkeys, with the last ignored monkey being the one above the BR. From there I catch all the monkeys on my way. I do the monkeys in the upper section of the city section first, then go into the restaurant. I use a timesaver here where I can skip hitting the switch to lower the block section by getting on the second pole that gets raised, and using cowboy form to hit the spinner from below to raise it (I need to see if I can just use slingshot to save a morph meter), then get the block master on top. From there exit and go up the pole near the restaurant and get the monkey up there. Go into the next area nearby and climb some poles and get the mob boss monkey and the painter monkey (or whatever he is), and that's the last monkey. MR: monkey behind bars, the four before the BR. They're all on the way to the BR.

Midnight Bay: I get the two to my right, then hit the spinner to go across, raise water. catch monkey by the police cars, and go into racetrack area.I catch the monkey by the bike, I use the same trick as before, but this time I can take out two of the cars with slingshot before they go. After these two, I wait for the third car to come since he passes by soon after destroying the first two cars, and shoot him with the slingshot. From there I get into the car, then get the two monkeys, then chase down the last car and exit. From here I choose to go into the sewers. There's another area with 6 monkeys, but I do it 2nd visit, so that 1. it doesn't end before I open up the ship door 2. I don't have to take a detour to prevent first reason from happening. I get all monkeys in the sewers, then exit. I get the monkey on the boxes high up, then hit the switch to open up the door behind the fenced area, and get the last four monkeys there. MR: Monkeys in area that has switch to open ship door, monkey inside ship.

Tomoki City and Specter: Just get all the monkey on my way. I ignore the on monkey near the BR in both levels. In Tomoki City if I don't get all four monkeys in one go in the section with the moving platform first time, I get a second try second visit since it's right before the BR.

I can type out all the 2nd visits if you want, but I hope that they're mostly self explanatory and it took me a while to type all this out. If there's anything I didn't explain well, I just suggest watch me do it in the run to understand.
Obscure games ftw
Routes all look good, I have a couple of things to add.
Break Rooms: Genie is fastest?  Cyber Ace is faster if you catch them all quickly, and the Kung Fu Fighter is faster too due to multiple catches in the rooms without enemies.
Tomoki City platform: Kung Fu Dragon Fighter is pretty useful on this.
Morph Stock purchases?  If so, how many and when?
If you're short on coins you can use the Genie morph in the airplane casino to collect several hundred in a few seconds, I was able to get about 750-1000 coins per minute abusing the thief enemy.  Having max morph stock should save more time than that, right?

I know Cyber Ace can catch multiple monkeys but only if they're closeby, and I like never get the opportunity to get multiples (or if they're close he won't even go for the others for some reason). Also catching monkeys with cyber ace is really quirky, like half the time I try to catch with cyber ace, he'll bonk the monkey and go through them without catching them.

Kung fu fighter is good at catching but it's a slow form in general, so if they're running around they'll be hard to catch, while for genie I can catch from far away and make them stop running.

On the tomoki city platform, I toyed with different forms and I seem to do best with ninja (since his catch is homing). when  the monkeys close in I jump or move close to them and do the catch and it usually gets them.

I buy a decent amount of morph stocks, not really a set amount but usually 6-8. I buy one before I get ninja form, and then from there I buy them in two's or three's (grouping trips together) or if I need some health I'll buy a chocolate chip cookie and get morph stocks alongside it.

There isn't really ever a shortage of coins since by the end of the run you usually just get a bunch of coins from various things (UFO's, mech suits, etc) while getting crystals to keep your forms around longer. I have a decent strat for farming money in midnight bay using the break room but that's not available until later (would make a good 100% strat though, as you can get around 800-1200 in a minute).

Considering how often you use morphs there's no need to get max morph stocks since you'll never be so full to have them all filled. The most I think you could really need is 6, and then use whatever money you have to buy stock refills. When you buy a new stock it comes empty. I pretty much just go to the shop only if I need to or if it would be very convenient.

Alright after some testing around, I came up with a slightly better route with some better use of morphs, and got a 3:21:57. It would've been 3 minutes faster (like exactly 3 minutes) if I didn't get the Monkey Red glitch FRICKEN TWICE IN A ROW. UGH. Pretty much you fight Monkey Red in three phases, each phase in a different room. When you beat one phase, you climb a pole up to the next room. However there's a glitch where the pole will turn invisible (you can still climb on it though), and an invisible ceiling will be covering the hole to the next area, so you can't actually get to the next room to fight him and are stuck there, and are forced to escape the stage and fight him from the start again. I had only gotten this once before (in my PB before this....), so having it happen twice in a row and costing 3 minutes right near the end kind of pissed me off. (Go to 24:50 in Part 3 to see the fight and the glitch).

Other than that, my Tomoki fight went really bad since he wouldn't let me hit him from behind (which makes him trip and lets me hit him a lot really fast), so he did luxury beam twice which he's invulnerable during. The execution was pretty solid for most of the run. One big difference was I found out that if you have any morph meter remaining while morphed and you end a stage, it gives you the full bar back, so I used morphs near the end of most stages to make monkeys easier and faster to catch without sacrificing any of my morph bars. This beats my old PB by a solid 10:18 (13:18 if not for monkey red), so I think I'm making pretty good progress. =]

Also...

All about the morph meter:

How long you stay morphed:
30 seconds

How long It takes to recharge: 21 seconds (it takes 1 second after cancelling or losing a morph for it to start charging, and 20 to reach full)

How long it takes to recharge while in fetal position: 11 seconds (1 after cancelling/losing morph, 10 to reach full)

How much time a small crystal gives: 3 seconds while morphed, unmorphed I think 10% of the meter

How much time a large tank gives: 30 seconds while morphed (brings it back to 30, possibly with some extra time before it starts ticking down), one full bar or reserve tank while unmorphed

When you buy a reserve tank is it already filled: No.

When you have empty reserve tanks does the auto fill refill those: No. The auto refill only fills up the main bar you have, if your bar is full and you grab a small crystal, it will put your full bar into the reserves and one of your empty ones as your main, and the crystal goes towards that. The auto refill will then start to fill up this new bar you have equipped.

Is there a way to intentionally switch to an empty tank to have it auto refill: If grabbing a small crystal counts, then yes. Otherwise, no.

When you end/leave a stage while morphed: You leave with the entire bar that you had used for that morph filled as if you didn't use it. Even if you catch a monkey and it goes to 0:00:00 remaining, if it ends the level with that last catch, you'll get your bar back.

When you end/leave a stage with a partially filled bar: It will be filled to that same amount when you leave, for example leaving with half a bar will mean you enter the patio hub area with half a bar.

EDIT: I accidentally deleted part 3 of the run so I decided to just take down all the parts from this post lol

I'm not sure what kind of final time I should aim for, but I'm thinking it will be around 3:10:00 for a good run (take my guess with a bucket of salt though, cause I tend to be bad at guessing potential times for runs lol)

Just a little update. Did another run tonight, got a new PB: 3:18:39. It had some really bad luck with most of the bosses, so I know this will be easily beaten soon. No Monkey Red glitch this time though!

If anyone wants to see it I'll make the highlights and post it here. Otherwise, I'll save the space and not have a billion embeds here lol

I also found out that if you're in a morph form and pick up an energy tank (the big ones) while your timer is already at 30, once you leave that morph the bar you had used for that morph will be filled already. So say if you only have the default one bar and you did this, that extra tank you grabbed isn't actually wasted, it goes to the bar you're using now, you just can't tell until after the morph is done.

What's your split for first specter fight?

2:08:06, however I split once I warp out, so I caught him around 2:07:50ish?

If you're curious about an any% 1 time, it would probably be about 10-15 minutes faster than this time since I take some different routes on some levels with revisits in mind, and I also catch most of the monkeys in Tomoki City and Specter Space Station, while in any% 1 almost none of those monkeys are required (the only ones I can think of that are are the ones standing on buttons in the space station).

These actually don't need to be caught-you can hit the button without catching them, but you need to knock them off the button first.  So catching them is faster, but not required.

Ok, I just want to officially throw my hat into the ring for Ape Escape 3.

I'll probably focus on Any% but I'll definitely give all monkeys a go. I'm still on the PAL version for now but I'll be playing NTSC soon (I'll probably pick it up in a few weeks).

I'm going to plan out an any% route myself then compare it if there are others available.

It wouldn't take me long to write out an any%1 route, since I had to partially learn it to form my any% 2 route. I'll see if I have the time later today, and I'll post it here.

Alright Flicky, here's the Any% 1 route I said I'd write (it's in the attached files). I tried to be brief about stuff, but I figure there are some things that require explaining if you don't know about them.

All UFO monkeys start outside there UFO, and sometimes you can catch them before they jump into it (usually with the assistance of ninja form, and, though a couple can be done if you have explosive pellets, those don't really matter for any%1). In Airplane Squadron assuming you're moving right away towards one of the monkeys, you have a probably 10 frame window to catch a monkey RIGHT before he enters a UFO. I think this one might be luck based depending on their starting positions walking around as you enter the area, but if you miss this one don't fret cause it's not easy, it's mostly a nice bonus if it happens. The one in the sewers in Midnight Bay is really easy to do, you have a huge window to catch one quickly.

For the quick kills on the cars, both race tracks have a few monkeys in cars that as you enter the area you can see are just sitting around, and don't drive off until you get close enough to them. You can actually get close enough to the one at the start of the track in toytown and the two at midnight bay, and shoot them with the slingshot while they're still stationary, and they'll just get hit and spin in place and not move still. Three shots kills a car, and they'll finally start driving but the car's already blowing up so they don't get too far away, just get in the car to chase them as their cars are blowing up and catch them and get out.

If there's anything else you need explained lemme know.

So I'm in the process of finalising a route. I think some of it is faster than yours and some of it slower. When I've figured out each level, I'll record a run and save it on twitch.

Edit: The other route, your Midnight Bay one.

Catch both ufos instead of doing your weird run miles off thing.

If the last monkey I got was the one inside the ship,  yeah UFO would be better to replace it. A lot of that route I made up really quickly lol. I'll give the whole route a second consideration this weekend if I can.

http://www.twitch.tv/flickyish/b/311841665 in 2:08:25. It wasn't a proper run and I forgot to buy explosive pellets for the last boss but that's the basic route. I use all the stuff we found (it's easy to do).

Just need to finalise then optimise =O

Explosive Pellets for the last boss?  I always just used the Wild West Kid morph.
Also I recently replayed this game and had a ~1:50 at the last save, not sure how that translates into real time though (seeing as it said :40 after an hour of playing)

My 2:08 was 1:33 save time.

I'll watch the full run when I get back from school Flicky.

Also the ingame timer is way off from real time (as usual). I personally don't think it should be used as a method of timing if a run of this was submitted.

Wild West form attacks really fast but his attacks are really weak so it takes forever to kill things with it. About 9 nine explosive pellets is how much health specter has, so you can usually take him out after he falls down twice.
Obscure games ftw
Couldn't you use guided to knock him off the chair then use ninja morph to wail away at him on the ground for faster damage?  Or even better, jumping and knocking him down with an attack?
dabes
Where he is while he's on his chair is completely random, and chasing him down to hit him will usually use more time than just shooting him with a bullet or guided bullet. I usually use the cyber ace to hit him off,  but a guided bullet would be next best if not the best.

Explosive bullets hurt him faster than ninja form does. I could see using it if you ran out of bullets and he's still not dead, but otherwise the pellets are a lot faster.

Although I have found a lot of various timesavers, I have finally found the first "trick" in the game, huzzah! Unfortunately, though there are a couple other spots you can do similar tricks like this with water, none of the others are useful as far as I have found.

It doesn't save much time, but time saved is time saved.
