Just a note on console stuff, you can use 'viewmode wireframe' to very easily detect were the seams in the transitions are, as you'll see wire frame models in the distance disappear.
viewmode normal switches back.
I'm messing around with other commands just to see what I can find.
Console doesn't come up for me using traditional UDK keys for it, did you change an ini setting to reach that?

I dont know if people here are blind or something Vid of Choco doing run is sped up at parts.... watch it from 1:05  its pretty sad
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=LaHh7JnRkl0#t=64s
he's pulsing the shift button. hence the Bees going out further every time he "speeds up the video"
Yep. Choco got lucky with pulsing his shift button (although it's a minor time-saver anyway).

The video might feel sped-up because the frames are interlaced, but I can assure you it's real-time.

Just got myself a 5:16. It's possible to get a sub 5:10, but with this current route I don't think sub 5 is. There's always tomorrow anyway. Tongue

Here's the run:

Oooh, neat. I just love watching/doing the shoot up block and esc trick. Nice job. Are you still having those lag/FPS issues?
I fixed it when I decided against streaming runs. Tongue

But yeah, the shift thing with the bees is really stupid. I've lost a few good runs because of screwing it up. I'd be a lot happier if it wasn't in the route.

Got a (very) sloppy 5:12.84 but it looks like Twitch has broken part of my video. When I tried to highlight the run, it said total duration was 4:31 (yeah right) and it refused to upload to Youtube. I guess I'll have to locally record as well in future.

Don't suppose anybody knows how to locally record to more than 1 file with OBS? It only gives me an option to specify a file to write to, rather than a folder that all broadcasts get automatically named and saved to.
You can export a highlight, yes. As long as you link your youtube account (it'll prompt you automatically when you try)
Because I'm new to this whole speedrunning this, I must ask: is it frowned upon to keep "pro strats" to oneself or is it generally acceptable? For example, I haven't come across any revolutionary exploits but I know a few tricks that could theoretically shave of a few milliseconds here and there - can I keep those to myself until I feel like I've perfected my run enough? I really don't want to come off as egoistic :S
it's up to you. I'm personally against strat hoarding, but it's a mixed bag. Do what you're comfortable with.
I'm thinking about starting a 100% run, but I'm wondering what the definition would be. I'm thinking:
- Complete map, all secret areas
- All pink cubes found
- All signs clicked

I'm thinking there could possibly be separate categories. What do you guys think?
I think that there is a fundamental problem with including pink cubes, which is that there is not a single person on earth, as of this moment, who knows where all of the pink cubes are or how many there are. Alexander Bruce has said that he forgot where many of them are, since he added them fairly early on, and even using no clip or other cheats, given the nature of the map, it may be profoundly difficult to track them all down.

My vote for 100% would be complete map and all signs.
If 100% takes signs into account, the one that requires you to wait for 1:30 would have to be skipped. Otherwise all runs would end up tying on 1:32~1:33-ish (the chase and the escape would be the only thing that matters).

Low% would be interesting though, which could include as few panels as possible, as few guns as possible and maybe even as few cubes as possible.

Alexander Bruce has said that he is considering updating the game at some point to give you that sign on game completion, so that a sub 1:30 speedrun is possible.

And it is a moot point, but assuming that a 100% run is possible under 1:30 without that sign, then you would do the escape and the chase before that sign, then esc back to the chamber to get that sign, then return to "The End", which bumps you out facing the black cube. That would be maybe 30 more seconds to completion.

as far as I can tell, the current any% is no different from any potential low%. As for 100%, I also vote All Signs + Complete Map (I think the sign will be updated by the time I have a good route in place). If he updates the game for the Purple Cubes (another thing he's said that he's considering), we can adjust things then. Although I will say he's also considered adding entire areas (remember that Under Construction door?), so for now I'm not so much interesting in routing as I am with compiling information.
Well right now any% doesn't skip the red gun, but otherwise yeah the low% route would be basically the same.
Not a Zelda 2 refrence
purple cubes don't make much sense for 100% right now, there is one you can only get by portal bypassing and at least one you can't seem to get without no clip.
You don't actually need to click on signs to unlock them in the hub area, I think just filling the hub wall would be good enough.
I think 100% should be full sign wall and full map with no large squares, except for the last room which never seems to show as being completed.
Claimh Happy
Yeah, that's what we meant, error. Basically, fill the hub.

Also, some confirmation for some people that weren't sure: yes you can beat the game without ESC. It's actually a pretty fun route. Only thing I don't know is whether the red gun is worth getting this way, because I haven't taken the time to actually time the different routes.

I have watched some of your runs on your stream, your movement/aiming is so smooth, specially the green gun, awesome job!
That definitely looks like a sub-5 without the slipups.

Over 3000 hours of TF2 will do that I guess. It might be to do with the fact that I use a rather low sensitivity compared to other speedrunners. I see a lot of people making really erratic and jittery mouse movements when I watch other people.

I had a look over the video, and if I got the red block first time it would had been under 5. I'm disappointed now Cry
You can also likely pick up another 2 seconds at the start of the red gun puzzle.
