Gets the cake.

OH MAN! A similar glitch is if you take a block and toss it, then hit esc before it lands, it'll be there when you come back, but you CAN pick it up. So for example, when going from yellow gun to red gun, if we teleport to fly, grab a block, and toss it at the 3 way intersection, we can then teleport to Leap of Faith and grab it and start flying instantly.

nice instead of going to fly tho you can go to the end door, steal a block from under the door and shoot it up.
Much harder but should be quicker

genius, that means we never even have to go to the fly room.

Have we now saved enough time for this to be sub5?

edit: similar to the teleport straight to "the chase", if you get to the sign in the hallway leading up to the escape, you can teleport straight to the escape.

Yes we have.
Sadly that block throwing glitch only works once per esc, so you can't throw 4 additional blue blocks and skip straight to the yellow gun. Sad
When you hit esc normally it would delete all of the blocks that have been placed, but I think it doesn't check for moving blocks. So the block keeps moving while all of the others are removed. So yeah, it only works once per esc.
I got a 5:28 run, sloppy run, but quite easy to achieve. Sub 5 maaay be possible in an absolutely perfect run.

Used The Ground Floor -> Managing Resources esc skip, The Exit Door -> Hallway esc skip, Last Hallway -> Last Puzzle Room esc skip and shooting a red block up to use it to fly to red gun (huge huge timesaver).
So wait, is it limited to one block saved per ESC, or is it just that any blocks you save in an ESC will disappear the next time you ESC?
Probably the latter. Sadly that room only barely has enough distance to even throw a single block, never mind four of em, I don't think.

For some reason shooting them down the stairs doesn't make them stay after an esc, though.

it's just any blocks you save in an ESC will disappear the next time you ESC

you can actually save more then one block it's just requires more shooting room

I can do 3 at max manually, and I just did 4 with a script. Something tells me that's not going to be allowed though =P

that said, it means it's possible in theory, we just have to actually do it.
Damn. If we can actually reliably skip the green gun, sub-5 is gonna be easy.

I'm not sure blocks degrade the right way for the next puzzle without the green gun, I'm going to test it
I'm pretty sure you're right about that. You need the green gun to fizzle lines of blocks.

yeah I just tested it, doesn't seem solvable with the blue gun, a link to the past should be tho
edit: I take that back, link to the past would require too many blocks. Skipping green doesn't seem possible with this glitch.
What are the three ways to the Yellow gun again?

Just got myself a 5:16. It's possible to get a sub 5:10, but with this current route I don't think sub 5 is. There's always tomorrow anyway. Tongue

Here's the run:

I've been watching his twitter feed. Some of the more recent discoveries will be fixed (most likely ESC_Preserve and Portal_Fill)

Speaking of which, loving this conversation so far: https://twitter.com/Demruth/status/298280673238712320
Another esc skip: Game of Leapfrog, after two first doors skip straight to green gun.

Great job with the runs so far! I tried myself, and I'm very fast to the yellow gun, but after that, you guys decimate me!

Gets the cake.
If he's planning on fixing bugs, it might be in our best interest to find a non-steam version of this game (I'm not going to say how, but... yarrrgh!) so that we have a backup of the current version if the next version is slower. I'll be doing that as soon as I get home.

edit: We broke his computer, guys! Whoops <_< https://twitter.com/Demruth/status/298268265539567616
I'm going to have to stop labelling my shit as WR lol

Impressive. Still a diamond in the rough.

I was testing things out with no cliping
there are about 5 red guns in the game, you can get up to two extra ones normally by portal bypassing, but you need the yellow gun to get there.
Getting the guns out of order isn't useful.
If you have the blue gun and get the red gun it will just give you the green gun, if you then pick up the green gun it will give you the yellow gun etc.
In theory tho you could pick up two green guns or something and skip yellow.
I think we should get some documentation of every gun you can get, how to get it, and the minimum/fastest gun it takes to get it. This sounds like it could lead to something really good. Cheesy

the two I found you can get in climbing the tower puzzles.
one you portal bypas from 7 to 6 ( it's in my video above ). You can get to 7 with the blue but 6 needs the yellow, ( you probably need 5 too ).
The other you bypas  between 2 and 3, then walk around to fake 5 and you can walk through the white door there to a red gun.
The problem with these is I think you need to have a lot of the climbing the tower puzzles finished in order to get to them so it's useless in a speed run.

there is an extra yellow gun in front of a link to the past, but there is an unopenable door in the way if you bypass the portal.
I didn't see any extra green guns.
Gets the cake.
only one blue gun I take it?

PS, I want to reiterate the importance of backing up your game.

Yeah I only saw one blue but I didn't look too hard since there is only one way to get it.  I did check the area to see how that early purple cube worked tho.
