fucking .gif....
ok first off I want to say I was only recommended to use this program (Anri-chan 3 beta 4) through someone that uses it and also goes to here.

now I have some problems.

when I first started this up, I went straight to ripping the footage from my DVD to my hard drive and some errors popped up, but it was successful in doing so...  I read the log and its has a bunch of "cannot find (blank)", yet there they were, the four vids that are on the DVD.

so then I figured I messed up and looked at the database and see I should have went to option 2 at the main menu.  I then erased the folder and it's contents that were in it.

I went to start a new project and I'm going through to see that it's matching up with what's shown on the database help page, until after I get my project name put in that it asks me "AVI Source".  That's not on the page which has "Video Source" listed as the next question.  I didn't know what to do then as the subject isn't even on the page I'm reading so I picked "a" for automatic.

The next two questions didn't pop up either and it went straight to asking me about what game I used, the scanning, whether it was from a VHS, and then it went to the encoding options.

So what happened?  I never used anything like this before and I'm reading through the thread here and the info page saying it's simple when I'm running into problems.  Was it something I missed?
yeah, the documentation is woefully out of date. need to totally rewrite it for the release of 4.

basically if you're coming from a dvd you need to say dvd/mpeg-2 source, not avi source. that's where you went wrong. and it's possible that the messages you saw, something about not being able to find, were actually bogus. i know mplayer spits out a lot of crap when it's ripping that you can just ignore.

so to summarize, you go: 1 rip from dvd, 2 new project, 3 dvd source, 4 select the dvd you just ripped, 5 enter the game info and 6 encode.

let me know if you have any more trouble.

oh man, I see now.  man I'm such a dumb ass.

thanks nate, but um, is this program able to encode and separate vids?  I had 4 separate runs and it combined them all into one.
if it's dvd you should be able to just rip them all first, then select them all at the new project stage.
fucking .gif....
so I have to do each one individually?

well I have four of them joined into one long vid, is there any way to split them?
say yes to the trim question.
fucking .gif....
sorry, but someone suggested that to me, but it didn't work, it still joined everything

I put them like this...

range#1/frame#1: 242
range#1/frame#2: 9022
range#2/frame#3: 9115

and kept going for 8 separate frame entries for the 4 vids.  ugh...then again I did mess up and had to restart over, but even after I input all the info over again, the frame counts were the same, yet they still joined.  I'll try it again though.
what are you trying to do exactly?
fucking .gif....
I'm trying to have four separate vids like how they were extracted from my DVD when they were ripped.

when I'm done with Anri-chan, I figure there will be four separate vids in the "finished" folder, but it's one only with all four runs joined into a long 19 min vid.  I just want to know how do I make four separate vids with this program if that's even possible.
oh, you can't do that. you have to make a separate project for every different source unless you're planning on joining them all together into one big video which is what i thought you said you were doing.
fucking .gif....
OH ok

hopefully this is all you'll hear from me.  thanks Nate.

you might see a speedrun from me in the future >_>
always good to hear.
torch slug since 2006
Wher can i find anri-chan 2, cause the beta dosent work for me. Cause I encode a film and anri-chan opens virtualdub and fixes there and you know the drill...
But when it says all dun ^-^, it says "press a key to continue..." i press ENTER and I got no avi or mp4 file in the project folder only other files

I also included log if that helps, Im using Swedish Windows XP so you might found somewords that you dont understand....

yes, it's probably the locale bug again. do you have extended latin characters (letters with accents) in the path to your desktop? at any rate, here's version 2 final. i'll continue to work on getting 4 beta 1 out asap.
from red to blue
Does this mean that Beta 4 will have say, 1 bug fix and become V3 Final?
it may be impossible to fix this bug. i don't think anyone is planning on updating anri 3 again.
O Zlda?
Probably been asked before: if I continue to use A-C v2 to rip DVD segments, and send in the project folders on DVD, you will be able to handle and encode them just fine, right? Or should I upgrade immediately to make things easier on nate?
sorry, i can't remember how dvds were ripped in anri 2 ... do you have a file mplayer.exe in c:\program files\anrichan? if so, then the answer to your question is yes. of course just copying the actual dvds themselves works too.

O Zlda?
Anri 2 project folders contain, among other things, the relevant BUP, IFO and VOB files off the DVD, and the .bat file contains the relevant frame offsets of start and finish, so should be fine. As there's only several so far I'll see if I can anri-3 them and I'll use 3 from here on out. Thanks.

I'm not going to do much more with them than that because I think a few other things should be done to the videos (sound needs to be adjusted to be louder, brightness is a little low in darker areas, theres 1 or 2 pixels of noise at the bottom of the video during the title screen (but not during gameplay), and there's several pixels of black on each side of the videos that could be trimmed to reduce filesize).

edit: yeah, it's looking like I'm going to just be sending you the VOB files from C:\AnriChanMPEG, if that's alright, along with a list of trim frames for the segments.
sounds like either 2 or 3 will work.

so you want me to do all that stuff in other words? i don't do any of that stuff when i encode runs except maybe the audio normalization - and that's only if i suspect the run might need it. but if you're asking me to then ok lol.

O Zlda?
edit: Just going to make a quality test thread.
Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
Trying to get stuff Anri'd for the MAGfest promo and ran into this when trying to launch VirtualDub:

Sad Help?
wow, never seen that before. look at that tilde ... any ideas, snow? is this the latest version of anri (3b4), tri-hex? and you picked dvd source and gave it your dvd drive letter right?
Maybe a noobish question : what happens if you watch mp4 videos (running VLC) while x264 is doing the encoding stuff ? Does it screw it up ? Can I watch mp4 videos safely while it runs, knowing that it heavily affects the CPU load ? I must add that I have a single core CPU.
yep, no problem. of course whatever cpu vlc is using will be robbed from x264 causing the encode to run more slowly.
