ok ... i may create some routines to automatically convert the code then. not sure when i'll get the time but who knows. i guess when 3 final comes out we can declare a freeze on batch development and try to get 4 out the door asap.

i think when you compare the two side by side you'll quickly overcome any lack of experience you have with bash.

Hey nate, i need anri-chan to output audio in aac-lc(for my mp4 player)

Is there a quick fix for this?

I can do it in meGUI but damn it's a hassle.

Why is it a hassle? It accepts both wav and mp3, among other things I'm sure.

Anri-chan uses Nero Digital AAC, adaptive bitrate, mp4 container.

Well i first need to run anri-chan to get the avs scripts and then in meGui specify output locations for both audio and video(and make sure the correct stuff is being used) and then join the audio and video together. I know anri-chan joins but atleast thats automated.
Not really sure what your goal is. Anri-chan has always output aac-lc.

Could it be the anri-chan version i am using? I am on 3 beta 2 atm.

Edit - For some reason the encode worked but it's the same problem that the PS3 has. Only MQ works.
Heh.. man.. I can't guess what you're trying to do. If you're having a problem getting compatible video/audio onto your player, please create a separate thread. You may get attention from others besides me/nate to help you out.

Read above. Sorry i was being so snappy it's just it was pissing me off.
I have no idea what player you're trying to get the video to work on, but the PS3 thing interests me since it's on the list of things to fix for next beta.

Were you never able to get HQ working on the PS3, whether through anri-chan or MeGUI?

I have not tried MeGUI but anri-chan was a no no.

I can try MeGUI tommorow if you want.
I'd appreciate any testing you can do.

Just tried a HQ encode with MeGUI using the anri scripts and no luck. Must be something to do with the PS3.
i would be very surprised if hq worked. have to use mq if you want it to be compatible with the low-power players.

I can understand HQ not working but why not LQ?

Surely LQ would put even less strain on these players? (so it would be happy to play it)

I can't see why the PS3 can't play HQ. I was thinking that it was to do with the audio bitrate but because LQ and MQ is both 64 kbps then that rules that out.

Maybe there is a specific bitrate that can be played? Maybe like 300 kbps to 800kbps or something. I'll do some testing with different bitrates and use the proven to work 64 kbps audio.
It's probably not the bitrates, but the x264/aac settings you use. There's many possibilities. One that I'd keep an eye on is VBV Max Bitrate.
yeah, the "lq is lower bitrate so it must be easier to play" thing is totally bunk. if anything it's harder to play because we have the settings (b-frames especially) cranked way up to squeeze all the possible quality out at the low bitrate. so what you think would make it easy to play actually means it's quite hard.

worked with molotov recently trying to recreate the ipod-compatible settings for the megui guide but was not successful. it's extremely touchy - the --level 1.3 argument seems to be required. at some point turning off b-frames etc you can get quacktime to give you a "data rate" under info but even then my itunes is refusing to put it on the ipod. best to compare the lq and mq settings in anrichan arg by arg if you're really that interested in compatibility.
thethrillness.blogspot.com
I configged all the main stuff that was on the MeGUI SDA page. I'll look into settings more on the advanced tab.
just to make sure i'm making myself totally clear, the megui page in the kb does not attempt to make things compatible at all. it comes from a long time ago before there was any compatibility research done.

Ugh. I just encoded an MP4 at the same MQ settings in MeGUI and the PS3 hates it still. Must be the settings i am using. Anyone else with more experience might be able to get the Triple playing them

I'm sure we're not the only ones trying to get x264 compatibility on the PS3. Someone has likely found the correct profile already.

edit- In fact, MeGUI already has profiles for the PS3 / X360. lolz.

Smiley Separate the DVD rip procedure: avoid repeat rips, user can have more than one "dvd" on hard drive to encode at same time, join DVDs into one project.

Sample extraction is broken, and Psonar will have some extra work to do with anri_auto. Rip destination can be changed in ini.bat.
dang man, you're on fire today. anri-chan is moving from economy to luxury without the bloat of commercial software. user-centered design is alive apparently.

I can't see any PS3/360 profile to select anywhere.

Edit - Nevermind. Got it working with my own encode. All you need to do is set AVC Level to 4.1

Nate, the word b-frames was mentioned on a few forums(as you were saying about it being high on LQ and stuff). If i remember they said not to use b-frames over 3.

So if b-frames being over 3 was causing the PS3 not being able to play the LQ files, what was stopping HQ?

I'm probably wrong here but it might have something to do with the HQ encodes being over a AVC Level of 4.1?
even 3 would be good if we can pull that off ... dunno about ipod though.
thethrillness.blogspot.com
Is there anyway we can get Anri to do a AVC Level of 4.1? (maybe like an optional encode or something)
