I'm using Growler Guncam because I do not own full Fraps and other recording program I tried didn't want to record correctly, but this is the trial version and after a few days I won't be able to change the format of the videos I will record, I guess I'm gonna need another program. Camstudio works fine for other games but for Fallout it doesn't work, if You know any good one, tell me about it.
The travelling speed is the same, doesn't matter if I'm recording, having multiple programs running.
Thank You, I'm glad you like the run  :).
Nice to see someone else attempting a run. A while ago, I completed a big improvement on my previous single segment run, but after I finished, I realized I screwed up on the difficulty settings. I had been playing around with them to figure out exactly what they did, and accidentally left it on easy. I've been trying to record it on normal, but the randomness of the encounters was driving me crazy.

Here's my run if anything in it helps you at improving yours:
Your new run is great! With the new way to obtain the robe I think sub 7 is possible. I will surely try to do both ss and segmented.
Waiting hurts my soul...
If you're going to pickpocket the guy standing next to the computer to get the key card, you can use that opportunity to place a bomb on him to get the robe right?

So who's up for a 100% or all good endings run? Wink

I tried that, and it unfortunately sets off an alarm.

In segmented run I'm doing now, I was able to get the robe without additional steal skill, I still use science on the computer, because it saves more time but in a Single-Segment I think more reliable is putting skill in steal, and get the card. Going to the Military Base without encounters is really painful for me today, or maybe I'm just unlucky?
The new route is about 20 seconds longer in Military Base, but I hope Cathedral section will be about 40 or 50 seconds faster now.
I'll upload the segmented run as soon as I finish it. The SS run will take more time.

Edit2: I've done some testing and actually to hack the computer in MB 51% of science is enough, when I tried 3 times only once it didn't picked on first try (I didn't add any points to science at this point, 51% is initial with Skilled and 8 INT).
What do You think of using the "0" bug, I mean when talking with a NPC, if you hit 0, the conversation ends, it works only on the guard in MB on the 3rd floor and Overseer but it could save some seconds, the point is that isn't this cheating?
I've also been thinking that all good endings would be a very interesting run, but two of them can not be achieved, Hub ending always is bad (unless you don't enter Hub) same with Children of Apocalypse. Such run would require killing all Raiders, repairing the Necropolis Water Pump, killing Gizmo, what else?
I haven't tried the "0" bug, but I can't see it being against the rules. It's no worse than the glitch used to get past combat encounters.

Okay, finally I got it, segmented run of Fallout done under 7 minutes  ;D.
I didn't use the "0" bug because I wasn't sure about it, anyway it could save maybe 4 seconds overall.
I hope You'll enjoy the run:

Edit: If anyone's wondering, the first segment is the same segment I used before, because I didn't need to change it.

Segmented run submitted. If anyone could verify, I would be thankful.

Now, I've been thinking about that all good endings run, I'm not sure would it require to do quest for far go traders in hub, but if not, the route could be like this:
1. Going to Cathedral, obtaining the robe, stealing key, then near Morpheus is a Tesla Armor and a Megafist (or whatever it's called), talking to Morpheus, getting the StealthBoy, picking the doors (that would be hard without additional skill, but it's possible), setting off the bomb by using science in stealth mode with StealthBoy (again hard to pull off but possible), running out and talking with Jeremiah (not sure will the conversation be possible at low speech skill.
2. Going to Shady Sands and getting to Raiders killing Garl and 7 others with Megafist.
3. Going to Junktown and kill Gizmo.
4. Getting to Necropolis, combat glitching or fooling the guard near the water pomp, repairing the pump, speaking with guard to get to Lieutenant.
5. Doing Military Base in simillar way as always.

Anything I'm missing?

Edit: About Fallout's difficulty settings:
"    *  If you choose the game difficulty level to easy, you will receive a 20% bonus to non-combat related skills. If you set it to hard, you'll receive a 10% penalty to non-combat related skills.
    * If you choose the combat difficulty at wimpy, you will receive a bonus to your accuracy and the enemies will receive a penalty. If you change the difficulty to rough, you'll receive a penalty and the enemy will get a bonus and will perform many more critical hits. "

That's from StrategyWiki

Hey guys, i was wondering if it is still worth the try to improve the single segment run.

I am currently trying to get under 8, there is still a lot to improve here but i'm basically using all your techniques for the segmented run :

Also i was wondering about the graphics and the current version of the game, I'm using a 1.2 version (classic) with the High resolution Graphics patch, cause people now enjoy watching runs in HD720, and i really think its important. More importantly, Fallout has a lot of flickering problem and blank screens and this resolution patch does fix it without modifying anything in game exepting that it take more time for fade-in and fade-out... So it is still a major improvment from the 9:22 made by Mimir, it is a minor but still improved version of his "easy" run in single segment and now i need feedback to know if it is worth the try to get below 8 or lower.

Also, i may need some help to go through the stage of submitting it to SDA because i'm not familliar with it at all. Ok, but first things first, heres is the 8:02 run (not the definitive run) :

Tell me what do you think about it ?

I'm using a S 5 P 1 E 10 C 1 I 8 A 10 L 5 character. I get two benefits of this, first its faster to create because i don't need to change my points in strenght or luck. Second, i get enough luck to not have too many random encounters and also enough HP (40) to get through the 3 forcefields most of the time. But sometimes i still need Stimpak for the last one. I usually take stimpak if i'm under 15 hp to be safe, but sometimes its not needed. Anyway, the stimpak takes 1 or 2 sec to take, but most of the improvments in tim are coming from random encounters, this is why i usually go along with or without stimpak just to check if i get a lor of encounter or not.

I use the Morpheus teleport trick at the Cathdral because it save me a lot of seconds to get to the 3rd floor of the Vault. I still using the  Children Suit but there's might be a chance to not need it at all.

I also use the "0" trick for the Mutant in the corridors of 3rd floor at MB, but since the "A" trick is tolerated, this one should definitively be as well. I also use a lot of Hotkeys, to go in or out inventory, to use skills but this run still have a lot of missclick.

So now i'm still currently working on improving it, also get rid of all misclicks, be faster on overall and get below 8 first and then maybe below 7:50 if i don't need the Child Suit.

There is a possibility to not using robes at all

It is a 20 sec improvement in MB, but you'll loose a few in Cathedral. Still, here's how it's done :

a) At MB, only get the key from the drawer, forget the plastic
b) use "A" tricks to pass the Mutant in corridor of 3rd floor
c) use stimpaks to pass the two forcefields
d) use the dialogue 3 - 1 to pass the mutant outside
e) in Cathedral go to the stairs on right side to go see morpheus
f) before second floor go into combat, go second floor while in combat and maintain "a"
g) use combat trick until you are near morpheus
h) use 2 - 1 - 2 - 1 for morpheus' dialogue
i) use combat trick to get out of the master sight
j) wait 2 sec until the patrolling mutant is behind door
k) use combat trick to go near elevator, go out of combat use lockpick on elev's door
l) use combat trick and use the key at 4th floor
m) use combat trick to get out of 3rd floor

You don't have to get out of robes since you don't have it, go our of cath and you are done.

All these combat tricks at cathedral will make you loose 10 sec more or less, but on overall you get -10s

I working on a run like that and i may do below 7:50.
