Small update, I've been streaming and have devised a few route changes which should take me through to a sub-36. Will get that done tonight if I can and post up a video Smiley

Quick question: I just ran and recorded a 5:17.3 (new PB) for submission to SDA. I show the main menu after the completing the game which shows an in-game time of 5:31 (because of the extra 14 seconds added between ending movement and the credits)..

What do I submit the time as? My RTA time or the in-game time?

edit #50gazillion:
Turns out the video is choppy and I'll probably need to wait until I can get a new graphics card before submitting runs Sad
Based off of the new rules thread I think it depends on the game, IGT is preferred but I honestly thing for the Any% it should be RTA. My 2 cents. Tongue

Oh okay cool no problem Smiley Whats the deal with any% ng+? Are they going to be separate categories or can they both just be any%? Considering the only difference between the two is the text skip at the start of the game lol..

Was so close to recording for verification today, decided to stream instead.. which makes me sad because I just hit a huge new WR/PB on 100%:
http://www.twitch.tv/hazdogga/c/2214371

35:50.59, like, 34 seconds faster than my previous best. Nearly everything went perfectly as planned. Still room for slight improvement and probably some better routing too. We'll see Smiley
Borderlands 2 Glitch Hunter/ router.
its a hard call on the any% text skip due to time taken to set it up should that time be taken into consideration or do we neglect the set up time and call it a new catagory?

tbh it would probably make more sense to call it NG+ as it carries .....text .... from another playthrough.

Nice work on the 100% Hazdogga I might have to complete the full game at-least once so i can verify the 100% lol ..... small fact for the day ... I've never killed a boss on Anodyne lol

Calling it NG+ is fair enough but I don't think the time taken to set it up should really be accounted for.. considering file time and what not on the completed file? :s

That's pretty funny that you still haven't done any more than the any% Tongue You should definitely play through the game and break the last 30 minute portion too Tongue

e: Right now I am wondering if sub 35 is possible.. I have already made the following route adjustments to my PB...

1. New route through cliffs temple -> saves 3-4 seconds
2. New route through 8-bit maze -> saves roughly 8 seconds

With 10 seconds already taken off, that means by minimising mistakes we will be able to push the 35 minute mark. I have calculated maybe 30-40 seconds of lost time in my PB.

However, it's not going to be easy to string everything together perfectly, especially with the Apartment boss who would appear to be heavily RNG-favoured.

e:

3. Quicker route to chest containing card #2 -> 1.8 - 2 seconds
4. Quicker route into Suburb ("Creepy Town") -> 3 seconds (needs perfect execution)
5. Quicker route to Suburb health upgrade -> 3 seconds
6. Quicker entrance into Apartment temple (main building) -> 1.4 seconds or so
7. Quicker route to second card in The Circus -> 1 second max
8. Quicker route to third card in The Circus -> 2-3 seconds
9. Quicker entrance into the fire side of the Briar -> 1ish second

So many little optimisations! D: Wish I had found these before that near perfect run.. because if these were all in a perfect run the time would be simply awesome! (Roughly 25 seconds just in route improvements Smiley )

Information overload, but I think I want to do a couple of challenge runs for this game.. what do you guys think of the following?

1. Damageless 100% run. Pretty self explanatory)

2. No weapon, high% run.
Get as much stuff as possible without a weapon broom.

I don't know if anyone takes any interest in this nowadays, I myself haven't done a run in a while unfortunately Sad However I plan on streaming a few runs tonight if I get the chance.

Anyway I just wanted to share a new potential time-saver with you all.. when you get the health upgrade in blue forest (the first upgrade in the route), you can simply go right, which lets you walk into the room above the temple entrance.. i'm not sure if doing this triggers the speech from the annoying sage though! If it doesn't trigger the speech, it's an instant 10-second save Smiley

e: unfortunately that was a no-go, the sage is completely unskippable at temple 1. UNLESS he will disappear after talking to him further on in the game (another potential time saver)

instead, i used a new route which goes to the Apartment dungeon before doing the first temple.. then we can warp back and swap in and over a huge segment of time, 3 seconds is saved lol.

This also opens up the potential for a new save warp, but i am having trouble figuring out where to! Sad

e2: Okay, so just quickly in my head (ie, I'm not 100% sure), I think the best thing to do would be to save warp to Lake after defeating temple 1 (late). this would save eleven seconds over going there the "normal" way, at the cost of time taken to get to the Forest portal in the nexus.

It's actually just gotten bloody confusing haha, I need to sit down and have a practice run applying my new ideas to see what the time difference actually is!
Avid watcher
So, I think I figured out what the time difference is...

I didn't even just sub 35:30, or 35:00.. I subbed 34:30! The run includes a new strategy for the apartment boss (which still was not the perfect fight), the new route through to the windmill, along with various other improvements that gave me an awesome time of 34:29.26 Smiley

Video:
http://www.twitch.tv/hazdogga/c/2299291

That means I've taken off 1 min 21 sec in a day since applying the new route. Seems to have paid off Smiley

Sub 34:00 should be possible too. Although there's no major mistakes in my run, there are some minor ones and a few areas where more optimisation could be made. Don't know how willing to grind I am though.. my playthrough after the apartment was pretty solid, so yeah! Grinding for a perfect apartment boss seems pretty awful in concept.

Anyway, I'll leave it there for now.. ^_^

any% in 5:15!  Cheesy  (5:30 on the in-game timer)
I just wanted to bump this thread, it looks like we have some good times worth submiting here, I'll be looking forward to verifying them Cheesy

The new Japanese translation saves ~15 seconds in any%.
This was an OK run besides the pit skip: http://www.twitch.tv/lifning/c/2874345 5:00.0

EDIT: Here's a 4:58.1, dunno if I'd call it submittable yet but we're getting there... http://www.twitch.tv/lifning/c/2880299

http://www.twitch.tv/lifning/c/2898433 4:57!  Cheesy  I feel really good about this one.

Nice one lifning Smiley

Time for me to make my comeback.. I want my own sub-5 for any% and I'll be giving my best at a sub-30 for 100% if Japanese can save that much time. That would be neat!

Aww I went on holiday , came back and the game had full verifiers Sad

Out of interest who submitted ? Tongue

I submitted my 4:57.  Response seemed positive here so I figured I might as well Smiley
I've been reading these posts and I haven't seen anything pertaining to "49 card runs" (or is that what is considered %100? Some people seem to refer to a 36 card run as %100 as well, so I'm confused). I've been working out a somewhat rough-draft of a route and I'm not sure if there are any rules I should know about, or if that category even exist? I can't find anything on it (that or I missed it).

If you want an idea of what I have in mind for the route I have a video posted here:
I didn't upload it to SDA because I still feel I need to tweek the video quality a bit. That, and it's not my best run. Any help would be great!
It's weather time!
Small edit from my last post, I read through the thread again and saw that %100 pertains to 37 card runs.

That's true, because 100% is an achievement on Steam when you get 37 cards.

49 cards is akin to 200% Tongue

I'm going to make my own 200% route when I'm on holidays.. I made my 100% route from scratch and would feel bad if I took someone else's 200% route lol
It's weather time!
LOL, I'm still tweaking the route and I'm plenty open to suggestions. I'd totally like to see any and all improvements you could make to the route. I'm not sure how optimized mine is right now. Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to sit down and record another run with some of the improvements I have found.

BTW, are there any rules to what versions of the game we're allowed to use. My runs are usually done on version 1.505 - one of the first officially released builds. There aren't too many changes to any of the newer builds but I want to make sure everything is fair and all. I'm not sure how many official rules have been established as far as running this game.
Avid watcher
Not really many official rules.. run what works best for you Smiley

I seem to recall that the latest versions allow you to jump over two tiles at once whereas its VERY hard on the old versions to do this. Not sure if that affects your route.

Believe me, you'll be tweaking your route a long time! I was optimising mine all the way between 50 minutes down to 34 minutes on the 100% run.. every run had a new route, basically Tongue

I need to get back into 100%, perhaps tomorrow. Running with Japanese language, I may be able to get close to 30 mins.

By the way, you have seen all the tricks 100% uses right? I'm sure off-screen tile swapping would be hugely useful in 200%. Smiley

(and in my eyes, it should only be 5-10 minutes longer for 200% over 100%, maybe 15 mins as I forgot about the secret items.. that's the sort of goal i would aim for in 200%)
