Final Time 5:29:75 i actually reach the fade out square @ 5:29:17 (which is when you lose player control) however you stop your timer on complete disappearance so based on that I'm maybe 5:30 exactly. but yeah label it however you like.

I apologize for my brothers snoring in the background and any other rubbish going on... i muted the wrong thing on xsplit ¬_¬ ... just realized i look mental shaking my head all over lol

Nice one Judgy Smiley I'm going to apply those route changes and see if I can match you Smiley

Here's my new time.. 5:24.72:
http://www.twitch.tv/hazdogga/c/2122564

Few minor slip ups.. there's easily a few seconds to be saved.

Sub 5:20? Who knows!

e:

Guys I found a new trick / route.. it is maybe 4-5 seconds faster if executed perfectly but it is quite difficult / random. I am figuring out how to consistently do the trick on my stream right now (will post a video up when I finish streaming)

Your execution of the transition glitches was actually perfect i spent the entire video checking you were doing 6's and 7's in the right places and you were spot on just a shame your intro/street was kind of sluggish compared to your previous bests. (don't think for a second I'm calling your run bad lol)

One thing i did notice is that you stay in the middle on the final room whereas I tend to stay to the right, this is so that the swimming animation after "you wouldn't last a minute without me" only makes you swim left not right then left ...saves some time depending how far left you are originally.

Can't wait to see the new trick btw didn't actually think there was a lot left to be found on a game with 4 function buttons and 4 directional buttons (^_^)

Just found this too:

With good timing you can get the "But not rocks, rocks don't do that" version which saves more time. I'm also not sure if it could be used normally or if it would be NG+ type of thing.
Avid watcher
I guess "trick" probably wasn't the right choice of words.. after all, it saves just a handful of seconds.

To the best of my abilities, I have yet to find a consistent method of doing this.. Making it very very hard to implement in an actual run. Anyway, here is the skip:
http://www.twitch.tv/hazdogga/c/2123766

Bit of a dodgy video but yeah it shows the way some time can be saved with the new route.. the skip is at 1:40. Smiley

Also, great find with the rock.. unsure how we should go about categorisation.. maybe keep it as the one any% category?

I was streaming last night and we were playing around with that bug and we had some really interesting results.. for example, trying to use a portal in the Nexus would make you float up one screen and lock your movement, among other hilarious results.

Ah well, not like it's going to affect anyone who's not trying to break the game Tongue

Awesome run you did there, Judgy and Hazdogga.

I'll see if i can help you in any way if you are planning to do a 100% run.

I've done a 100% glitched run, and ended up with a time of 44:16.. don't know if I saved the video anyway, but any input you can give on the run will be much appreciated Smiley (i'll find everything a bit later on)

e: Streaming a 100% glitched right now Smiley Should get a minute or so PB, hopefully..! http://www.twitch.tv/hazdogga

Also found a new route for Lake in any% (ng+) which is even faster than a perfectly-executed holes-skip route (which is infuriatingly hard), but even easier! i'll be doing a few any% and ng+ any% runs soon Smiley

I was thinking about making the map of the whole game to help you for routing, but i think it will not be very useful since you get a pretty good time on the 100%.

Also, how 100% is defined on this game?
Because in addition to the 36 cards, there are fairies that give you bonus health.

hold on was my original route quicker than all the others? :S

We've defined 100% as the 37 cards you can achieve without the swap broom (even though we glitch and use the swap broom to get them..), all health upgrades, and all broom upgrades. You must also defeat the final boss.

I wanted to ask you guys whether we should change it so you don't have to battle sage? Considering the fight doesn't give any upgrades or serve any purpose other than to open up the Briar..

Well, I had never seen the Lake route I used before, but if that's what you were using, then yeah, it's the quickest possible route through Lake. Even quicker than hole skip!

I got a similar any% time last night, but I took the northern route in the overworld/lake area.  Does the southern route (OoB on the west of the map) save more time, or is it just safer than walking over the pits?

Is the in-game timing admissible for SDA timing?  I guess seagaia would be the most qualified to answer this  Smiley  It seems that it starts after the "Press C to start" screen has faded out, and ends just before the credits roll.
Avid watcher
I honestly have not been consistent enough to put together a perfect run through Lakes using the pit route -- I believe they are about even but I actually thought the southern route was about 0.3 seconds faster.

In-gaming timing starts on new file creation and ends about 3 seconds before credits roll, while the screen is black.

Nice run Smiley I admire your ability to get through the pits, I never did that in a high-quality run! Sad

Thanks  Smiley  I found the most success simply holding left and tapping up with a certain rhythm. It still kills about a third of my runs, though.
Wow, all these amazing times Smiley !

This video is a couple days old, and I haven't been able to play much in the last few days Sad However, I can still save about another second I think.

Might try streaming late tonight Smiley

Any% 5:17.66

(first 720p stream, does it seem alright to you guys?)

More or less perfect up to the Briar, lost some time (.4-.8 seconds maybe) due to imperfect flow of the glitch and I ran into a wall slightly early before glitching (after skipping the swap broom puzzle).

Pretty damn good though if I do say so myself, I don't have much intention to run this category any more except to produce a submission maybe. (:

I got really discouraged yesterday when I lost that sub-40 on the final boss... stopped playing, came back to the game with a fresh mind and played around a little.

Well, I found a new skip that saves about 30 seconds at the end of the game.. by activating the fire flow before the water flow at the briar, and then swapping into the boss room, you can skip the cutscene where Sage tries to destroy Mitra's bike. Smiley

I put that into motion, and executed most other things pretty well, and beat the game 100% in.....

38:46.91!! Smiley
http://www.twitch.tv/hazdogga/c/2153344

Some quick notes on the run:
I lost about 6 seconds on the first split.. the first time loss came about 10 seconds in (lol) where I fumbled with the switches in the intro area.. If you ignore the time I lost speaking to Sage (which I made up when I revisted the Briar Bridge), then I was actually ahead on that split.

From there, I beat every split except the circus, where my PB had a PERFECT boss fight (I want to highlight it if I find it!).. i lost 15 seconds there, but made up heapsss of time with the new skip (which I failed once in my PB).

I would say in addition to that 15 seconds I lost, there's not too much time to be saved apart from optimised movement and any re-routing. I will have a play around soon and try to sort some of that out.

For now, though, I'm really happy, because I subbed 40, and I subbed 39!! Smiley

e: also, I was wondering if we could vote on whether or not the Sage fight should remain in the 100% category.. he can easily be skipped, and since he doesn't give any sort of upgrade or item in defeat, I think he should be skippable.

Agreed / disagreed?
Avid watcher
I'm not sure if this "counts" or whatever since that vote on Sage skip is still pending, but here's how the run looks with a slightly altered route including Sage battle skip..

Final time: 36:56.13
http://www.twitch.tv/hazdogga/c/2153948

Also discovered I have been going the wrong way in Circus so I can easily take off another 10 or so seconds by moving straight to the boss battle.. Smiley
I think sage fight would fit into an All Bosses category, but if he offers nothing that is defined by the Devs as needed for the 100% achievement then I'd say skip him.
Avid watcher
Okay, cool Smiley

I put together a few minor route adjustments tonight, so sub 36 should be possible Smiley will do some runs tomorrow / evening.
