Main Work!!!
thank for the advices you give earlier i tried them and it's faster, thank a lot and yeah i forgot about the study but i just try it and it work there also but i don't know if the time we win with the trick is higher than the loading time but i think we could improve my trick with starting lower on the stair, get an high jump, continue this jump on the floor ramp, etc.
Also, the video you send about the storage is a pain in the a** to do fast without mistake, I'll probably need some time to practice this part to make this look easy for me:P
Edit:how do you do the rock slide in the study, i'm not able to do this one i find it pretty hard
Main Work!!!
Ok, so this is it for what my speedrun will look like up to the storage(including guest and study) I will look a little bit better, cause I'll be very strict(even on small mistake) and from the water part up to the storage will be better and I will practice them more because, in this one i'm hit by the water monster so I became stress from here to the end(like we say: my head was pounding and hands were shaking:P). So give comment if someone find improvement it'll just help;) Thanks

Watch in HQ:P

Apjjm, I found this, I don't know if it's faster or slower than what you do in your speedrun but if well done, it could easily the fastest way

Trick I found this morning in the chancel. Apjjm, it may interrest you but I think you probably already found it but worth a try:
1- you go to the door already half open
2- you close a little
3- you enter the door looking little bit left
4- the usual thing(abuse)
NB:it can be done without moving the door with the right angle but I only succeed twice, so I'll take whatever can help for my SS.
Also it can through you in a endless hole that kill you if you do it bad(but by bad, I mean very bad like for example, looking behind you during the glitch).
Hope it help!

What?
That's a nice find in the chancel that is certainly faster and looks more reliable than the glitch I was planning to do there (The other one could get you stuck inside a pillar). Your route is looking pretty neat so far, just about to start some testing on the trick in the second hub area and it's relation to flashbacks.

Apjjm,
So a little answer 2 months later about your Inner Sanctum glitch. I did not find a glitch from the other side but I find a glitch SS and segmented friendly to get to the orb chamber. Maybe it's not as efficient as you maybe want, but I'll probably use this one it's easy and quick and in the case you want to use it too.

It also contain my fight against Alexander and the sentence"It was my greatest triumph, and I never look back".:P
Also, do you know a trick to get through the door in the end of the prison cause if you don't I'll need the glass jar and the acid:(

What?
I had already found that inner sanctum trick,  I put a video up of it in my playlist (there are quite a few videos in there which aren't posted in this topic). Just found an SS friendly way to do the nave on a quick play-through I just did (encoding and uploading soon!). Also for the door at the end of the prison, just use the rock glitch I am using in my segmented run, it is one of the easier rock glitches.

Testing of the new route for the back hall went Ok - it definitely is shorter (by about 1 staircase worth total distance), and hence initially faster, however the time spent in the flashback pretty much negates the gain (As you enter the machine room before the parasol flashback ends, you then also can't speed up the ascending room flashback without waiting for it to start, slowing down that room too). Single-segment wise pick the route you can perform the best (or the order of rooms you prefer), as I'm thinking the routes are similar in total time.

Finally, I found an easiest, friendly, Single-segmentest:P glitch to skip the Cistern and maybe it's fastest than the one you're using but i'm not sure

It's been like an hour or two that I'm looking for something like this. So if it's actually faster here how to do it:
1-Place yourself at the same place I stand.
2-Continually look at the rock intersection I look in the video.
3-While running and pushing front(obviously), press right a couple of time to stand on the little platform aside the door
4-(Also obvious)make 180° when the screen become all black.

So I'm going to play a little L4D because if I keep playing this game, in the next 20 minutes, I'll take my computer and throw it by the window on the next person who walk by my house.

Thank a lot
I was currently practicing the same sewer route as you do while saying to myself "damn, this is going to be one of the hardest path unless I take my time" then you show me this i say "Ah!A traditional spade glitch, then what he's going to do nex..FU**, ok so THIS is going to be the hardest path" and also i'd like to know where are you with your speedrun?

Apjjm: 2011-06-06 06:06:22 pm
What?
Currently just about to start work on the nave (end of this week when exams are done), then go back after completing the game and improve some levels (7 segments in total currently). I really wouldn't advise  taking the route I am currently taking for the sewers in my segmented run. Instead try the older route (in my playlist as the sewer skip - though the execution of the glitch is really bad) this is tonnes more reliable, and if you mess it up it isn't run over (You can land safely on the pipes, and get back up onto the ledge).
The stuff in the nave really shouldn't that bad - the boost through the post is the only dangerous part which could screw up the run, when I was first trying it I had about 60% success rate, but with a little practice I can see that being a pretty safe trick (at worst no harder than the rocks in the sewer skip).

Cool but about the sewer I tried your other way and I die every time(man that I suck at this game) and your new one i die only 1/3 and it's at the exact same spot so I'll practice this spot. for the moment in the nave I pass through the wall 4 times and in these 4 times, I didn't succeed once. I remember the 30 first times I pass through the rock in the sewer, I didn't realize I had to go diagonal and I was "why do I keep falling every time" Tongue .
Also, like I was a little down on practicing my speedrun, I practice a glitch less single segment speedrun, because when I saw phantasy speedrun, a couple of person said "this is dump, you use glitch" so I said to myself "hum! maybe some person on SDA would be interested a glitch less run.
Main Work!!!
SO here is my part 2 of my Single-segment run plan (with glitch Tongue ). I know that this isn't perfect but I tried to say I do this one shot and record and keep it no matter what happen except dying. So my Storage is very good(aside from my two last spam jump, I kind of suck at these), Machine Room with Daniel being Insane is also pretty hard, you move a little, Daniel do 2 360° and it don't end where you want to, he decide sometime to stop running for no reason, he look almost drunk(this one will be improved in my original run) prison except the northern part where I almost took the wrong way in the OOB was also pretty good, Entrance of the cistern another spam jump that take me up to 5 or 6 time I think. The morgue ok for me and the sewer was pretty fine(but I almost fall) but sadly The sewer is not in this video so I'll redo it in the next(because of youtube limit to 15 minutes and if I stop right after the morgue it gives me 14:50)
So here it is, hope everybody enjoy and if someone find a fastest way somewhere, just tell me Tongue . Thank

Like what, this game is still scary as hell even when you speedruning it. I did know that in this place I have to dodge two monsters but, usually i use to make the second one disappear(so I though i could try over running it to save time)and it save about 20 seconds. So when I did this attempts(after 26 minutes of speedrun glitch less) the second monster that I did not wait to disappear, spawn in my face running like hell to hit me(like HE WANT ME DEAD), I think I never jump like this in this game. So when I was near the door to the entrance of the cistern, I forgot that there can't be two monsters at the same time so to make the spawn of the prison cell door, he disappear so I was freaking like hell and like I was shaking too much, this ruin this speedrun attempts. Real pro use glitch, real man are scared and they tell it.
So this is how we do the prison the real man way! Tongue

So here it is, my single-segment glitch less speedrun.

Record count : 7
-Refinery : start lagging as hell for absolutely no reason.
-Morgue : when I got rush in the prison I was so stress that I did everything wrong from there to the morgue so I had to restart.
-Cellar archives : Got killed by the water monsters because he didn’t want to go eat the three part of flesh I throw in the water.
-Machine room : I start inserting the rods and I realized that I forgot to do the study room.
-Prison northern : three grunt servant spawn and kill me while I was trying to open the cell to the entrance of the cistern.
-Cellar archives : start lagging as hell for no reason.
-Prison Southern : When I grabbed the chipper the cinematic didn’t start and the grunt servant killed me.

Main Speedrun:
My considerable’s mistakes
-I should be more productive during the flash of a flashback
-didn’t go directly through the door after grabbing the cuprites
-I could have been faster on the object in front of the door in the calamine room
-The water part is still scaring me and it’s evident in the Speedrun.
-Lag in the cellar archive and in the archive tunnel(don’t know why I have 6GB ram)
-Machine room(mainly the coal)
-Lag in the ascending room
-I got it bad with the oil Tongue
-Control room, I did a couple of small mistakes mainly because I was surprise to have the parasol cinematic for a second time.
-Cistern was very bad(and since I took too much damage, I had to go to the morgue in a alternate way(usually I jump from the cistern bridge)).
-Got killed in the second part of the sewer

Good points
-The storage
-The prison
-The morgue
-From the nave(1st time) till the end was pretty good
-All deaths except from the last time in the sewer(2nd part) are there to save time
Part 1

Part 2

Part 3(my first big mistake is here(Cistern))and also I got a bug there, I had for the second time the parasol cinematic.

Part 4(my second big mistake is here(got killed in the second part of the sewer))

Part 5

What?
Firstly, I have to say I am impressed by the execution in general (and the monster dodging!) - the prison had me on the edge of my seat to say the least. Though there are improvements you could make other than fixing the mistake in the cistern (I think the sewer one could save you time, as the brute wasn't blocking the ladder). Perhaps the most important thing you need to check though, is the suitability of the glitchless category here on SDA - I'm not sure when deciding between "glitchless", "no major skips" or "no OOB glitches" which category would be the one chosen here, and is something you should to enquire about. I would argue the latter (no OOB) is the most likely candidate given that it not only changes the entire approach of the speedrun to "get out the map as fast as possible" and skips loads of the game, but also is very easy to define and distinguish. I think this shouldn't really change the run you are currently doing apart from one or two levels.

With that in mind (assuming no OOB is the ruleset) here is a list of improvements i spotted, most are under 10s improvement:
Entrance hall - can use the collapsed staircase to boost up, might save a few seconds but is hard to do (might not be worth it).
Storage - can use the first "get away from me" flashback to allow you to run past the monster after drill bit #1
Storage - can dodge past the monster after getting both rods straight away, but he will be pretty close behind you!
Machine room - don't need to close door on the coal burner
Prison #1- rock sliding trick (see my run of this area)
Prison #1- Don't have to combine hammer and chisel, just use hammer on the hole and game does it automatically.
Cistern Entrance - You have the boosts here which aren't OOB. If you aren't doing that, throw a brick up during the flashback to loosen the bridge with.
Sewer - Get killed by monster #2 straight away and you should actually save time?
Cells - Safter to break the wall and go through (hammer + chisel) - this costs approx the same time as failing the jump two times, so might be worth considering.
Cells - Can jump along edge of wall on the water part to save a few seconds (See phantagaming's run)
Chancel - When assembling the orb, select the topmost peice the first time & you won't have to move your mouse to select the others.
Inner Sanctum - The wall glitch here isn't out of bounds.

Some other stuff which may help:
Bind one of the jump keys to the mouse wheel, and bind one of the action keys to that wheel too. This will let you fast-climb ladders easier.
Is there some nearby laudanum before doing the cistern? so you can heal after being steamed (low health slows your movement speed).
Herbert vision - the parasol cinematic is always there in the control room however, it is usually disabled by script. This could be because the part of the back hall script that disables the flashback in the control room, is only executed if the flashback finishes whilst you are in the back hall. If this is the case, doing your alternate route for the back hall will save you time in the control room.
congrats on finishing the run and thanks for the vids andre!

Thank Apjjm,
I was currently in the submission but I'll tell to cancel everything, I am loosing too much time, so I'll redo it(since it would have probably been reject) and with most of the advice you give me(I won't use the boost jump and the Inner Sanctum glitch cause even if they aren't OOB, I just want to use no glitch if possible) and this will give an easier way to beat my time when it will come

I tried your improvement and here what it give:

Storage : flashback work perfectly thanks and the second monster is way too tight so I'll wait 1 to 1.5 seconds and this should give me a security.
Machine room : Usually I don't close the burner, don't know what happen in my head at this moment.
Prison : thank you for the two tricks.
Cistern entrance : I didn't know if the rock stay there when you get in and out the machine room and cistern and it doesn't work.
Sewer : yes it is faster and it's the scariest part right after prison but it work.
Cell : ok I'll go through the wall and this also I usually do it(the edge)
Chancel : also faster thank.
Some other stuff : since I don't boost(I'll wait 2 sec. in front of the Guest room), I'll find a laudanum in my way.

So overall thank a lot

57m10s so I'm done(like the old one was 59m19s, I happy with the improvement), I did another big mistake(but I comfort myself telling me, I think I didn't do considerable mistakes before the prison) but I think we can't be perfect on SS(yes we can but even if I like the game without glitch, I don't want to pass an additional month or two on this). So from now on I can concentrate on my glitch run Cheesy .

except the Entrance of the cistern, I couldn't have done better with the time I have put in this speedrun, so I hope you'll all be satisfied even if it's possible to do faster.

Rerecord count : 12
-Refinery : start lagging as hell for absolutely no reason.
-Morgue : when I got rush in the prison I was so stress that I did everything wrong from there to the morgue so I had to restart.
-2xCellar archives : Got killed by the water monsters because he didn’t want to go eat the three part of flesh I throw in the water.
-End of the game : too many mistakes.
-Storage : Monster overrun me.
-Beginning : problems with the first door.
-Choir : activate the Iron maiden(I was so stress I forgot an orb piece and went to the chancel and I was”nnnoooooooooooooooooooooo”)

Bad points :
-Being hit in the prison
-The Entrance of the cisternx2( the 2 times combined , I lose about 1m20s+slow down)biggest mistake of the run.
-The first and last ladder in the sewer
-The third time, the monster don’t 1HKO me in the sewer

Good points :
-Every things before prison is  very satisfying in my opinion(not many mistakes)
-Same for after the sewer(from the nave to the end)
-I'm proud of a great part of my Speedrun cause it flow in many places
-The only thing I wanted to do for the style was grabbing a tinderbox (the only one I grab in the run)during the beginning cinematic and use it in the last cinematic(after Alexander)

I start the timer at the don’t forget and stop it at No, you fool  for a final time of 57m09s .55, so round it and we get 57m10s (it was time at 40fps(frame by frame), so I think it’s safe Tongue )

Part 1(yes it'll again be in 5 parts)

I finally found the way to get out. This is for your segmented run, for my single segment, there are too many risks and this is at the end(obviously, I'm not ready to take this risk for max.20-25 seconds if performed well). the two way I show here depend on how much you damage yourself during the high jump if your speed isn't affect this much take the second option and if it is either take the first route or grab the Laudanum in the other prison cell under the bed before going. I save very much because this was very hard for me but I'm sure you can handle this and I think the cell is at the beginning of one of your segments so it's perfect that way.
I do them very slowly in this video but almost every tricks you see there can be perform way faster, I was just playing safe to be sure.

What?
Speedrun looks good Smiley
Nice finds in the cells - If you use the back of the rocks that fall you can get out onto the roof of the chase area a little faster. I did recently find out about a way to get to the door, will have to test to see if your way can be performed faster (mine is a really tight path along the left-hand outside edge - you jump to the outside edge from the start). Incidentally I plan on save-glitching through the key & door puzzle, so the segment starts as soon as the chase does.
May have to put off serious recording for a little while, my recording hard-drive is faulty after only half a year's use and needs to be returned - might be able to record some of the shorter nave segments on my current hard-drive though, but the choir will probably be a different story given what little space I have.

Thank for your comment and for getting through two 1H speedrun in three days Tongue .
My third part and fourth part are finally done

Except if I find a way to do the glitch in the nave easily, I'll do it like this in my final speedrun because I think I die about 23/25 of the time. This is up to Cells, so if I practice every things up a bit I'll maybe be able to do a sub-40min Single-Segment(that would be excelent and superior of what I had like goal. Cheesy )

Part 3

Part 4 There are three thing in this part: 1- took me 40 seconds to perform the inner sanctum glitch(it usually take me 5 maximum). 2-Sorry for being safe about my Health because with bleeding quite badly or worst the inner sanctum glitch can't be performed. 3- Since my door glitch doesn't work anymore for me???? I decide to find an easiest and fastest way(just run through the wall). I love the monster grunt servant: 1-they are so cute when they scratch their head and 2-I want a pet grunt

I'm ready to start my speedrun Cheesy .

Hey, here's a little something I found: Here is three tricks/glitches: 1- I show that you can boost on the pillar if you jump when they fall down so you can go faster to the next one. 2- If you enter the orb chamber at the same moment than the last shadow stomp of the Inner sanctum, the shadow chase music will continu up to the credit like shown in this video. 3- you can go aside Alexander with pillar and wall jump to see him dying(I find this one very hard to do but with practise it can become easier and the wall jump glitch have always been my weakness in glitches. So this could be use for style in a speedrun
(In this one I also show the ending I'll choose probably for my speedrun(what I do before Alexander is dead and every things))

Also another style thing but for an eventual 100% good ending run: When you wait for the portal to open you can go behind Alexander and see him from near and play around if you want but you can also go up and see the asteroids gravitation from near and wait for the portal to open and jump with agrippa's head

Also I've start my speedrun attempts so I'm able to do around 40m50s so I'll practice till I don't have sub 40 and I'll try to find an OOB way in the water monster part causeI'm sure it exist it's just, I never had the courage to search in this place Tongue .

Hey I found a new trick for my SS(new trick, it's a way of speech). When you get through the Refinery door even if you didn't grab the chemistry pot, they give it to you, so like doing the storage take me 4min25 when I do no mistake and it take me 3min20 with the chemistry pot, so the deduction is obvious. I'll do the storage the normal way and it's way less dangerous(the storage with all the glitch was one of the often restart place) and it's at least 1 minute faster.

Also, can someone explain this to me, I've finish this game without glitching at least 15 times and yesterday for the first time of my life(when I was trying to improved my glitch less run) there was a water monster in the cistern and when I was about to get out shadow appear everywhere and I had to find another way out(the same door just walking on the shadow on the other side). Can someone tell me how did I trigger this???
What?
The chemistry pot was a fix added with the latest version of the game, as the slime would sometimes randomly disappear  / not use the acid properly leading to people getting stuck in the storage. The water lurker and shadow appearing are triggered by how much sanity you have left IIRC.
