I got a PS2 RGB cable(CSYNC) from retrogamingcables and just tried testing it out.  I have a Sony PVM and when RGB Int/Ext Sync is selected(like I normally would for my other systems), it only shows green(and a little red), but if I change it to Composite Int/Ext Snyc it looks fine.  Dunno why it's doing that, but whatever.  I open Amarec, and it's still green no matter what I have on my PVM, plus it's warped and fuzzy.  Any ideas what's going on?  Did I possibly get a bad cable?  Attached is a screenshot from Amarec.

HELLO!
You sure the PS2 is set to optout RGB? Sounds like it's outputting composite only into the Green line.
D'oh!  That explains PVM issue and the coloring, but it still looks like shit in Amarec.  Any ideas on that?

That looks like messed up interlacing. I checked out this page and it could be the game is still displaying in 480i even over RGB.
That's weird, because it looks crystal clear on my tv.  Dunno why it'd get so interlaced when going from my tv to the capture card(or from the card to Amarec).

What are your device settings in Amarec? Maybe there's something in there that isn't right.
Same as I have it for my other RGB setups:

Well first I would be updating that 3 year old driver which will give you access to other VGA modes such as SOG (Sync on green) which I think the PS2 uses. Been awhile since I looked at this stuff.
Ok, updated the driver to whatever was on their site and fiddled with the new options.  I got it looking good, but it seems my tv is causing some sort of interference somehow.  When the tv's off, it looks fine.  When it's on, I get those lines on the top like the previous picture.  It's a Sony PVM and I have a BNC to Scart cable going to my Sync Strike that goes to my PEXHDCAP.  This doesn't change from NES, SNES, Sega, etc. so I know that it works fine.  It's only when on the PS2 that I get this distortion on the top of Amarec.  Any clues what might be causing that?  Again, it's only when the tv's on that Amarec freaks out, when it's off, it's fine.
Here's a comparison, first with the tv off, then with it on:

HELLO!
How are you getting the signals into your capture?  Pass through the VM or a splitter?

That looks like noisy sync to me.
Pass through the PVM.  I use the same cables for all my systems, the only thing that changes is the one going to the PVM.  All other systems look fine, it's just the PS2.
HELLO!
PS2 might have weaker sync more susceptible to corruption.
Well, I got with Pasky and he figured out that adding a 75 ohm resistor to the sync strike fixes the sync issue.  Unfortunately, the new driver fucked up how my Sega looks, and that's more important to me than the PS2.  I think I'll stick with component cable and be done with it.  Thanks for the help, though.

Just for reference for others, the sync was actually too strong.  The problem was the sync signal wasn't being terminated properly.  The sync signal is driven at a 75Ω impedance so you need to terminate it with a 75Ω from sync to ground, effectively halving the signal strength (voltage divider, see illustration below).  So putting the 75 resistor on pin 1 (Composite sync output) of the LM1881 on the sync strike to pin 4 (GND) alleviates the issue.

HELLO!
Thanks for that.
