Metroid Prime 2 i hate youwqefwg
when I try to record, Amarec warns me that:
"The frame rate of the video capture card does not suit a preset value."
im recording/streaming at 60(59.94 apparently) FPS;

so what happens if i put my capture device resolution to 640x480:
when i record and play the video, the sound progressively gets out of sync (about .2 of a second per minute, so around 2 secs per 10 mins or so...)

so what happens if i put my capture device resolution to 720x480:
when i record play and encode the video with anri-chan, frames are weirdly played out of order, much like the "field dominance" thing, explained in the anri-chan section of SDA.
basically the frames are played like: 2,1,4,3 instead of 1,2,3,4. (there supposingly is some option on anri-chan to prevent that but it apparently only works for DVD-recordings >_>)
it simply looks like dropping frames on LQ and MQ but on HQ you can see that it actually jumps between the frames.

I've also tried setting preview and capture rates to 30fps and turning off deinterlacing

so, i really want to submit my final product to SDA (and i also payed 150 bucks for the video card >_> ) so i'd really, really apprechiate, if there was a way to record/encode my stuff properly, so i can finally get this together. Sad

Well firstly I need to know what system you're recording, and I need some screenshots of your config sections to see what you're using. Even though you're streaming at 59.94fps, the source video that's coming in is only 29.97fps. What you should be doing is record at 29.97fps (which will show up interlaced) and let Yua/Anri handle the deinterlacing of the final video.

So here's how it should be setup:

1. Preview window should be setup with the proper deinterlacing options (probably top field first, auto line doubling, and retro/action for the deinterlacer option)
2. Recording tab should be set to 30fps with the filter off
3. Recording codec should be a lossless codec (huffyuv, lagarith, x264vfw) for video with the audio set to Uncompressed

is there some option at anri chan where you can do that thing you can do with a DVD recording with this recording? can you do it manually on virtual dub or something?
to fix the stupid field dominance issue. goddamn...

i changed the recording FPS to 30, didnt change anything at all though, yeah recording @60 fps is not necessary anri-chan seems to put it up to 60 fps after encoding somehow, i guess thats coming from the interlacing.

so this is what it looks like when i finally finished encoding the video:

good. not sure how but been messing around for hours and hours and FINALLY got it to work. was almost about to give up on this, but man, the video quality is sexy, worth the pain <_<

Well, going by your setup, here's what I can offer:

Even though your capture card reports the ability to record at 59.94fps, since you're grabbing footage over the Composite source this is a lie unless your card supports native deinterlacing (and since most video capture cards do this incorrectly it's best to not even use it) so setting the framerate to 29.97fps is better.

Once you have the device setup for proper interlaced recording, the preview window can be left alone, however you will need to turn on Amarec's deinterlacer if you want to do proper streaming (the Live function won't deinterlace without the preview window setup for deinterlacing).

On the recording tab, the only problem I see is that you have MP3 setup for the audio. If you wish to submit a run to SDA then it has to be set to Uncompressed.

For the Live tab, keep the Mixer unchecked (which you have set properly at the time you took the screenshots), and make sure there's a checkbox in the lower section for Live Enable. Once enabled, you'll find an option for Amarec Video Capture in your streaming program of choice. Basically Amarec Live creates a fake video capture device in your system that your streaming program uses to get the footage from your capture card. This gets around the problem of your capture card only being accessible from 1 program at a time. It also uses up less system resources than doing a window capture of the Amarec preview window (and generally looks a lot better too).

Since you're only capturing from your composite source, the preset can be disabled. You only need to use that if you have multiple capture setups for different consoles and/or different capture cards. Once you setup the device properly (from the graph 1 (device) tab) the preset can be ignored/disabled.

Can you post another video sample just so I can see if everything is good? Make it a 10 second clip, and don't run it through yua/anri, I need to see the raw footage.

for some reason, turning on interlacing makes my computer heat up rediculously fast, until it bluescreens >_> even though my GPU usage is only at like 0-5%...
luckly, even with interlacing the stream looks pretty good.

i'm not using the live function from amarec, because capturing it with OBS makes it look pretty much the same and i cannot see any performance problems with my computer (im using a amd phenom t1100 which has 6 cores at 3.9 Ghz, so thats not a problem)

setting the MP3 to uncompressed is a good idea, i was about to start doing attempts and recording the run, so thanks a lot for telling me that i have to do that lol.

the problem i had, was that i had the framerate set to 60, i think, now that i have set it to 30 everything works perfectly fine, figured that out myself yesterday Smiley
also i had set preset on, so nothing changed when i tried to change stuff, that really confused and annoyed me ugh.
but finally now everything works just fine.

here is a video of a already encoded recording, it looks pretty awesome:

yeah, looks like you got everything set up right.
